My beloved Aunt, a mega Philadelphia Eagles fan, a member of the inaugural Season Ticket Holder Fan Advisory Council and a 57 year season ticket holder passed away recently after a short illness. When I asked my father which of the flowers he thought she'd like, he said he only wanted to send Eagles Green and White. I called our local florist, who directed us to Ten Pennies as "the place to go, definitely". They were SO RIGHT. I called a few days before the funeral. The person on the phone was so helpful, advising me of which flowers would be 'green' for use, asking me what we wanted on the ribbon, and even offering to see what they could get in Eagles decorations. She knew the funeral home and promised they would definitely arrive before the first viewing. A few days later, when we walked into the Funeral Home Salon, there they were and they were truly stunning - these pictures don't do them justice. The Eagles Organization had also sent a gift and a letter to our family, and so these were displayed in that grouping and it looked amazing. We were delighted at how well designed the display was. My 85 year old father grinned from ear to ear - exactly what he wanted. It was a bright moment in a solemn time. Thank you, Ten Pennies, for doing wonderful work. I ordered my wedding centerpieces from Ten Pennies. The mock up done by Nicole was beautiful and full. The day of my wedding the centerpieces were less flowers and it was not like the mock up. The day I went to see my mock up Ann (the owner) assured me everything would be perfect and gave me this long talk about the "wedding day"...so ironic since she was the most outspoken of all of my vendors yet was the only vendor that didn't follow through with the quality work I was promised. I reached out to Nicole afterwards and she said she spoke with her manager and they are sending me a $35 gift card because you can clearly see the centerpieces are not like the mock up. Great customer service and beautiful flowers, I live in VA and got flowers for a special someone at temple university on Valentine's Day, I placed the order about two weeks in advance and called 4 separate times asking certain questions about flowers in season and what not. The lady who answered the phone was very kind and patient with my silly questions. I got the ballet slipper arrangement but paid extra for some yellow and purple to be added. In total it was about 135$. That is all in total with taxes and delivery fee and tip and what not. Is this cheap? No not at all, in fact very expensive and not budget friendly. Are the flowers beautiful? Yes they are so lovely and bring a smile to my face each time I see a pic of them. If you are wishing to bring joy to someone you love then don't let the price of these flowers discourage you. It will be pricey but worth it, and the recipient will feel valued and loved. I need a florist close to a friends home in Philadelphia , although they weren't the closest they delivered in the area. First the reception and assistance on the phone was exceptional. I've heard many times "yes we'll go that" only to be disappointed after delivery. So on to the flowers , an exceptional bouquet of spring flowers, a very appealing mix of colors ( as promised plenty of purple) in a nice vase decorated with a beautiful presented purple ribbon. I am going to stick with facts with this review: I wanted to send flowers to a friend at her work on her first day back after bereavement. It was a Monday. I stopped by the florist on Thursday afternoon thinking maybe I could pick out some flowers to be sent on Monday. It was near closing time. She told me I just have to call the day prior and let her know what I like. Wanting to make sure so I stopped by early Friday afternoon showed her the picture of the purple tulips. I asked her if $80 would get me similar effect but with a mix of yellow, purple and white tulips. She said yes, she could put in some fillers and make it look nice. But there would be a $8 delivery fee. And she couldn't guarantee morning delivery because there might be a Super Bowl parade on Monday. I agreed and paid $95.04 including tax. Fast forward to Monday morning. I got a call around 10:00 am. They wanted to know if they could deliver on Tuesday instead. She said she ordered deep purple tulips but it would not arrive till late afternoon and she thought she would miss my friend at work. She said she had some light purple, more pinkish tulips. I told her that's ok. The point was to send her the flowers on her first day back. Now you all know Eagles did win but there was no parade on Monday. They did not deliver the flower until after 4 pm and my friend already left work at 4 pm. She didn't get the flowers till she got back on Tuesday at 1:30pm. I had ten pennies make up 2 vases for my sisters memorial. I was very specific on the phone conversation purple with a lot of lavender, (her favorite). The girl I spoke with put me on hold to make sure they had the lavender and she assured me it would not be a problem. Each vase of flowers was to be $100 each, I agreed. To my surprise and my the rest of my family the flower vases were mediocre at best and not one piece of lavender. It was mostly babies breath with some purple flowers. But the lavender really ticked me off. The red ribbons annoyed the rest of my family. So don't recommend this florist. read more

A disastrous display of any ownership of the definition of customer service! The lady that works in the afternoon is an utter disgrace to any form of professionalism that I was to fathom this flower shop had. I ordered online 2-24-2016 an exotic display, for a friend that recently lost his grandmother. The arrangement was 104$. The next morning I called to just check on my order, and what maybe the time for delivery would be. I get greeted with a woman whom mentioned that she was "just about to give me a phone call because non of the flowers that I ordered, were even in stock" So, the delivery would have to be for Friday 2-26-2016. At first I understand that flowers run out, flowers may be out of season ext, ext, however, from a customer ordering on line should be notified before one spends over 100$ on flowers, for a delivery date of the next day, and to be told that NONE of the flowers were in??? Can I say, unacceptable! I asked to speak to the manager. HE was a very professional in regards to resolution to the order of non stocked flowers that were open for selling on the website. HE genuinely expressed his concerned for website updating, and was getting this order taken care of. Unlike the first woman that I spoke with. Apparently my friend was not home during the time of delivery, and was out with his son during the afternoon so unfortunately the driver could not make the delivery. From the conversation from earlier in the day, the information I received is that "the area is normally delivered after 12pm" I got a message on my phone from the very same gentleman I spoke with in regards to not making contact at 2:57pm. I called him straight back and we came up with a delivery time frame of tomorrow from 8-10am. I then let me friend know to please be at home around that time. I called back not to long after that conversation with the previous gentleman, just to see how flowers are kept if contact couldn't be made. I again got greeted by the same RUDE woman that I had spoke with this morning regarding the flowers not being in stock. I start the conversation out as, "hi my name is so and so, I just got off the phone with a Moe?" She rudely states I don't have anyone that works here with that name, ok, "I spoke with a gentleman in regards to a re- delivery tomorrow for an order that I had placed, my name is so and so", so are you trying to make an order? Again, I stated "that I got off the phone with a gentleman affiliated with your shop in a re-delivery for tomorrow and"- so your telling me a delivery time? I am now at this point annoyed with the lack of organization I am being presented with. "No, I am not, I have already placed an order, my name is so, and so, the address in regards to where the flowers are going to is so, and so, I am calling to see how the flowers are stored if they were unfortunately not delivered that very day? In refrigerators? What's the process?" She then lightened her tone and stated that all flowers are cooled, as well as inspected before they are to be delivered. Great! That's good news, thank you so-- "You know we went to this address twice today and no one was there, and we don't even deliver in that area, and we don't have a deliver fee so to deliver twice with no answer... " Excuse me? That's when the true unprofessional that woman was came to light. Why would you even tell a customer that information in the harsh matter of fact, high school bickering girl tone? If there was a re delivery fee of apparently $10, I don't mind paying, if you all didn't deliver in that area to begin with, please let me know before I spent 104$ on this fiasco of a establishment, don't take my money and then after the fact let me know, the flowers are not even in stock and we don't deliver to the address provided? That's when she transferred me to another phone where I was placed on speaker to where she was screaming in the phone stating that, we appreciate your business, I didn't mean to offend you, I'm so sorry, ext ext. However she already did. From an operational stand point, this particular employee, needs a lesson in the art of verbiage, its an embarrassment. You never attack your customers with any information that shouldn't be disclosed. If your not competent in what your talking about. One misinformed staff member makes the whole company look uncoordinated, and tacky. Its simple, if you don't deliver in an area, have it disclosed on your website as WE DO NOT DELIVER pop up, if a particular flower is out of stock at your store disclose OUT OF STOCK pop up, so a customer may look elsewhere or settle for something else. Also making sure every staff member is on the same accord with any company information. Horrible experience, I will NEVER order from this company again. First and LAST time. I just had my wedding this past weekend and, I will be the first to admit, the flowers and room arrangement/draping/lighting etc. were not my department. My wife planned that aspect of the event with Ann of Ten Pennies and it was UNBELIEVABLE. The flower arrangements were stunning and the lighting highlighted their splendor and perfectly accented the ballroom. I have never written a bad review....usually I just let it go. But I don't want a different Bride to have the same experience that I did. I knew every one of our wedding vendors, mainly friends of friends or family....all but the florist.....well I learned my lesson with that one....never again will I go with someone that I didn't know about before hand. Where do I start.....the worst part was working with the owner Anne......hands down the most condescending person I have ever met. I made the mistake of trusting that she knew what she was doing......mainly because every time I tried to interject on something she blew right threw me. I knew things were bad....when I got a call from our wedding coordinator at 3:00 in the afternoon the day of the wedding....to let me know that the flowers were "pretty bad"........let me preface by saying that I was married at the Arts Ballroom which is one of the most amazing places in Philadelphia.....the ballroom speaks for itself and I knew that a lot of flowers were not needed to make a huge statement....I spent about 100 on each centerpieces and about 300 on the bouquet..... Here is what I got...... A small cluster of roses maybe 7 in total in a little rinky-dink vase....the flowers were dying and a lot of the petals were falling off. The bridal bouquet was really pretty.....and that was pretty much the only saving grace. Thank god for the coordinator.......that knew a florist that could come in and save the day buy sprucing up the arrangements and giving us better quality vases FOR A TENTH of the price. SHAME on me for not doing my research.....NEVER AGAIN...... Brides there are dozens of others florist in the city that are so much better. Please take this advise and don't make the same mistake that I did. ***I will say that I was told on 3 different occasions by Anne and people that work there.....that "They do weddings with arrangements in the 10's of thousands SO this (my wedding) was nothing for them" SO Maybe if you are spending over 1,500-2,000 for flowers you will have a different experience. I have nothing bad to say about any of the vendors that were at my wedding, except for ten pennies flowers. I must have used the word sheister about several dozen times as I reviewed our contract. The owner Ann met with my mother and fiancée months before the wedding and showed a number of photo samples. Impressed, my mom made the mistake of agreeing to sign with Ann and to give her a cash deposit that, alone, was more than the product to be delivered should have ever cost. It was certainly a lesson learned and hindsight teaches much. She arbitrarily charges very inflated prices including those for linen, centerpieces, the individual flowers, place cards, and a chuppa---all of which were rentals but would have been cheaper purchased elsewhere. While I do acknowledge that the wedding night was beautiful, with credit due to Ann but also the decorations provided by the venue, I could have and should have attained just as good from another florist for a fraction of the cost and a even smaller fraction the aggravation. The kicker is that she triple charges on the other fees (note, the contract is very vague in terms of what each of the labor services entails). She charged nearly $1500 for local delivery, set-up, breakdown, and this cockamamie changeover fee. The changeover fee, according to Ann is in case the wedding were to need to take place indoors and a room needed to be changed over...the catch, she would charge this regardless of whether the wedding would take place indoors or out. Further, paying a changeover fee did not ensure that her employees would be on site at all times. When we realized, days before the wedding, that due to weather we wanted to move the ceremony indoors, Ann tried to charge me an additional changeover fee, on top of the one she already argued for. Word of warning. At this point I spoke with Ann directly to hear why this was necessary. I understand why my mom and fiancée caved and bought from her...she has a very strong and intimidating personality that is just plain scary. Most of her sentences started by 1.) cutting me off and interrupting me, 2.) speaking in a condescending manner such as "Now I am going to explain this so you can understand." Or "What do you do for a living? When I come to you I would expect you to tell me what to do...weddings are my thing so this is how it's done." Or, simply by inquiring about the fees, she replies, "you and your family are among the most difficult people I have worked with in 30 years." This just less than a week before the wedding...nice! We are pretty easy going people, I would say. I just don't like to pay a contract without reading it. Ultimately, rather than being open to discussion or negotiation, she exploded and said, you know what, fine...you win! It wasn't about winning or losing as I saw it...just about fairness and respect, both of which seemed to be unilateral. I have no doubt she still made a nice profit so I don't know where she gets the idea that she lost. Lastly, and here is the kicker...We Have the updated contract after renegotiating our budget...note, we did not make any changes to design of the centerpieces themselves but only with Ann regarding the prices that she was charging...also note, the price per centerpiece did not change....However, and I have photographic evidence...Our original centerpieces consisted of few greens, white orchids and OPEN white roses. When I asked to see a sample in the shop, Ann said, I have a similar one if you can come in today. I said, no, I live 2 hours away and I want to see what we are buying, not a leftover of someone else. She presented us a beautiful centerpiece when we arrived a week later with the flowers we requested. ON THE WEDDING DAY, the product she delivered contained lots of fillers and greens, if there were any open roses or orchids they must have been hiding because instead I saw what looked like cheap grocery store flowers. After being a loyal customer for 10+ years, I am taking my business elsewhere. It started late last year when I ordered an $80 floral arrangement for my MIL. Fillers dominated the floral arragement...cheap flowers you can get at Shop Rite for $3.99 a bunch. I was embarrassed to say the least. I complained to the owner, who sent another arragement free of charge, but I was not impressed. The final straw was this past Valentine's Day. *All* the roses in the mixed floral arrangement that my husband bought died within 3 days. I have lived around the corner from ten pennies for 5 years. I am lucky enough to have received deliveries from them a few times every year (valentines day, anniversaries, etc.). The quality if the flowers has declined so much over the last few years that I have finally told my boyfriend to stop ordering from them. As I read the other reviews, I can understand the positive feedback for weddings and special occasions....the bouquets always are beautiful when they are delivered. However in 3 days or less, the flowers wilt and die. Now obviously I don't expect them to last forever but I have bought roses from street vendors that last longer than these - for a fraction of the price. read more
