Loved my first-time experience here. We did tour 8A and had a fabulous guide, Kojo, who was a friendly and compelling storyteller. We walked up and down three flights of stairs, but there was minimal walking Other than that. Appreciated the stories of two families in the mid-1900s who lived in the unit, with recorded clips from family members. A couple young kids on our tour (ages 5-7?) seemed bored, but for adults, I highly recommend checking out this unique museum. I plan to return and want to try one of the food tours next.

I loved this tour! Very interesting to learn about the residents in New York in the late 1800's. You get to learn about daily life and daily struggles. The tour guide definitely makes the tour and Natalia was excellent

I don't know where to start. This was the highlight of my trip to NYC. New Yorkers- get a membership.. you won't regret it. Disclaimer - it is walking tour. The tenement museum was such an enriching experience for me. I truly enjoyed learning about the immigrants/ immigration story of so many Americans. Our tour guide was absolutely fabulous. He took us through a journey that was both exciting yet sad at times. I don't want to spoil it too much because I think that it is important that people experience this journey themselves. I don't live in NYC but I will make it a point to do the different tours whenever I visit NY.

Really unique museum experience. I chose the Moore tour, which tells the story of an Irish immigrant family. The tour guide Maiea was knowledgeable and engaging. I loved learning about the history of immigrants who lived in the building, and the interactive experience of walking through the apartments. I would've liked to hear a bit more about the other stories that were available, because you have to just pick one and hear that story.

Tenement Museum - 100 Years Apart Tour Did the 100 Years Apart tour today and honestly, I did not expect to like it this much The tour is short, but very immersive. It is not flashy or like an attraction, but once you are inside the space, you get pulled in. If you are curious about things that have been around for a long time and the stories behind them, this place really works What I liked most was how quiet it felt. NYC can be overwhelming, but here felt calm. No rushing, no noise, just walking through and sitting with the stories. That part was really nice I am not a history nerd. I am just someone who is curious about people and the time they lived in. Seeing how immigrants, especially Asians, came to New York and tried to survive felt very familiar to me. I am not Chinese, but it reminded me a lot of what it feels like to come to the US and figure things out on your own. That connection stayed with me I would definitely come back next time to try another tour

Highly recommended! After taking our first tour, "After the Famine: 1869," at the museum, everyone in our group is eager to return for another tour on our next visit to NYC. Shout-out to our guide, Isaac--he was both incredibly knowledgeable and a captivating storyteller. Through the story of Joseph and Bridget Moore, an Irish family in a predominantly German neighborhood, he offered thoughtful insights into how Irish immigrants were viewed at the time. His narrative made it easy to draw powerful parallels between past and present societal attitudes. Tours are small (about 12 people), cost around $30, and are totally worth it. If there's one you really want, book early!

They have a lot of different tours, so you could go back again and see totally different sections. The horror was interesting and I never even realized the museum was there. So glad my friend's cousin suggested it. It was particularly timely, since we saw the Ragtime revival later that day.

Absolutely beautiful experience on the LES. The preservation is amazing as was the tour. Highly recommend.

Finally crossing off from my nyc historic landmark bucket list. It was such an interesting hour tour, glad that we finally made it. Seeing and listening the history behind the building made us contemplate how lucky we are being on the present time. It seems immigrant life during that time is difficult as starting from the ground was full of challenges. Each generation is improving on this aspect. If you are into history, this is well recommended museum.

    What's the most interesting tour?

It's too subjective to say, imo. My husband and I have been on 4 tours and loved each one. We actually took the same tour years apart and didn't even realize it until I found the old tickets. They had completely changed it.

We chose the private family tour and booking was quick and easy and the customer service as great as I remembered. On to the tour itself: Luke met us at the Museum of Natural History on time and we got reacquainted. My son is autistic and can have some trouble warming to new people but absolutely no the case with Luke, he immediately put my son at ease and they were chatting like old friends as we made our way into Central Park. The tour covered loads of Central Park, including an exciting off track visit to a secret cave, the plaza hotel, grand central station, some fun subway rides, and concluded at the Brooklyn Bridge. But more than just seeing so many iconic sites, Luke had hundreds of facts and stories (which my son loved) about what we were seeing. It was truly like spending a wonderful day with an old friend. I cannot recommend highly enough Luke and Real New York Tours. Until next time!

When I found out this place is only catacombs in NYC, I decided to book a tour. I learn so much of history of St. Patrick church that this church is the original before they built St. Patrick 's Cathedral on 5th Ave. I was amazing knowing the history of catholic in New York and mystery behind. The underground was great, some people might say it was short time but maybe because I took a tour at the last round so I feel I spend amount of time down there with no rush. Even it only one level underground but the tomb is deeper than that but with the security and lots of reason they completely seal the tomb so no air in and out of the tomb and no one tough inside for centuries.

You could see how much they enjoyed what they were doing. Our guide shared lots of fascinating stories about St. Patrick's Old Cathedral Basilica, the history of Catholicism in New York City, and the NOLITA neighborhood. I can't say enough good things about this entire experience. The tour we wanted was sold out,…read morebummer. Sent a message to see what was recommended as far as the availability of a wait list or moving tickets from walking to bus tour would be easy. Scott himself responded, almost immediately with his recommendations. Purchased the walking tour tickets, put ourselves on the wait list for the bus tour and watched emails like a hawk for the few days before our scheduled date. The pizza tour Gods smiled on us and the wait list opened up. I called to get our tickets moved and talked to Scott who handled the whole transfer quickly for me because once the wait list opens up it opens up for everyone on it. He was very helpful in scoring those seats for us and understood the urgency. LOL. That's ALL before we even got to our first meeting place. We met the tour and Scott at Keste in the Financial District. I had read in my research that the tour stops aren't planned ahead and I was skeptical, but you could see him figuring it out as he figured out his group for the day. One of the attendees had taken the tour a year prior, they played a game of guess the spot so he didn't repeat stops for her and the very large group of family that she brought with her on this tour. There was one request for a spot in Brooklyn but he couldn't make it happen due to their hours, not that he wouldn't have moved heaven and earth if he could have. We had a smaller than usual tour group because of timing and a LI RR strike and you could just see that this opened up other options for places to go. After Keste we were able to do two stops in the Bronx, one in East Harlem. There was even an ice cream, water ice store next door to the last pizzeria. So much thought went into this route. Scott was able to take this group to places he hadn't been to in quite some time due to the distance and size of the group. Back to Keste-- what tour guide takes his entire group and takes over the kitchen, helping himself to dough balls and creating pies as he discussed pizza history?? We saw the kitchen and oven in each establishment and each shop was welcoming and friendly. Scott is a wealth of knowledge and enjoyed sharing his story and the story of all of the stops we visited. Pizza is an absolute passion project for him. Highly recommend!

Five stars for Scott's Pizza Tours, and that's only because six is not an option Yelp provides…read more Imagine a man who has taken the idea of pizza, which most people treat as a thing you fold in half on a street corner, and decided it deserves a Rosetta Stone. That man is Scott. We met him at Keste in the Financial District, and before he said much of anything, I noticed something unusual. Several of the people on our tour had done it before. They were back for more. That seemed as telling as anything else. People do not go on vacation and repeat the same bus ride unless something extraordinary is waiting for them on the other end. Scott does not work from a script. He looks at the group, he looks at the day, and then he consults the secret weather system in his head. Out came our route. Four stops, starting at our meeting point in Manhattan's Financial District and three more scattered like wayward toppings on the city map. Queens. The Bronx. Harlem. Lucky us. Scott told us that combination hardly ever happens. To him it was chance. To the rest of us it was magic. The stops themselves were like chapters in a book. At Keste we learned about the precision of Neapolitan tradition. At Patsy's in Harlem we felt the weight of history, coal ovens burning with the same stubbornness they have for generations. At Mario's on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx, an owner with stories longer than the line outside the door talked to us like we were old friends. At Philomena's in Queens, Scott was so at home that he even took a customer's order when the restaurant was swamped by our presence. Every stop had its secrets revealed. Oven temperatures. Dough hydration percentages. Family feuds. Bake times. Flour suppliers. How long a pizza can sit before the soul leaks out of it. Scott called over owners, opened kitchen doors, and invited us to peer inside the fiery mouths of the ovens like pilgrims gazing at sacred relics. Scott himself is difficult to explain without sounding untrustworthy. He is a human encyclopedia with a perfectly tuned sense of joy. He has a Rolodex in his brain that seems to contain the phone number of every pizza maker on earth. I mentioned Hamilton and he talks about Papa's and DeLorenzo's as if we were neighbors. Others mentioned Seattle and Las Vegas, and he told them where to eat, who to meet, and when to go. He casually suggested lowering the water percentage from 66 to 63 for another guest's home pizza dough, as if adjusting the tides. Then he mentioned that after our tour he would be home making 16 doughs for his guides, who were planning to test a new oven. I believed him. He also radiates decency. He runs Slice Out Hunger, a nonprofit that takes the love of pizza and turns it into meals for people who need them most. It is good to know a person can devote their life to melted cheese and still be entirely serious about kindness. This tour filled us with more than pizza. It gave us a sense of belonging. Everyone, from my ten year old to a pizza shop owner who happened to be along for the ride, was entertained and educated and full. Scott's Pizza Tours is not just about pizza, although the pizza is wonderful. It is about a man who has built a community, and who invites strangers to step inside it for a few hours. If you are a casual eater, a home chef, or someone who has already built your own pizzeria, this is for you. Five stars. The highest recommendation.

From the time we signed up, to the time we boarded the plane to return home, TEP took care of every detail. We commented amongst ourselves that we felt like kids on vacation with our parents, as we didn't have to worry about any of the details - just show up and follow Neptali (our guide). From airport pickup in Cusco in luxury Mercedes vans where we were promptly served Coca tea to help with the altitude acclimation, to group dinners at amazing Peruvian restaurants, to historical tours and education on the history of the Inca - everything was covered and taken care of for us. And that was all before the amazing trek along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu! Of course the trek itself was the highlight of the trip, and although it was extremely challenging for us, TEP's unbelievable attention to detail did not fail us on the trail. With nearly a 2:1 porter to trekker ration, our every need was met on the trail. We dined like kings every meal, and were consistently amazed with the quality (and nutritional appropriateness) of the food our chef and sous chef were able to put out with minimal kitchen conveniences. The thing I felt was most special about TEP's approach to this trip was the focus on gaining a cultural and historical appreciation for what we were experiencing. Every step along the way, we learned about the native people of Peru, the Inca civilization, the many ruins we came across, the vegetation we saw and how it was and is used, and the history of modern Peru. It was the trip of a lifetime, and have the help of The Explorer's Passage made it so much more enjoyable, and so much more memorable.
