I can't wait for my next trip to take another walking tour with this tour company. Onel is knowledgeable, personable, engaging, humorous, thoughtful and kept us on time! He knew exactly where to stop for photo ops and gave us plenty of time for them - I appreciated the scheduled bathroom break at clean bathrooms and the stop for drinks/snacks at the most perfect grocery store that I wish was in my neighborhood. The tour ended at lunchtime in the perfect location with several food options as well as close to both the ferry and trains for the return commute to Manhattan. We met with our tour guide last night, an older gentleman in his 70's, that I cannot even tell you his name because we could not hear a word he said. We booked this ghost tour with anticipation of having great spooky stories around East Village NY while on my sisters bachelorette trip (which I specified in the booking reason when we booked). However, immediately we were disappointed by the tour guide assigned to us. So much so, that we tipped him for his efforts and bailed on the tour within 45 minutes of the tour starting. We are VERY disappointed and likely will not recommend this tour as we spent a good deal of money for it and did not enjoy a single second of the tour. I felt it was important that we let you all know because we do not want any of your future booking to be as disappointed as we were. Now if you've read my lifestyle website, Piercing Ken dotcom (shameless plug), you know that I love exploring a wide assortment of museum exhibits and art openings along with the occasional special launches. Back in April, the Society debuted an exhibit called "Uptown Rumble", which was dedicated to the Metal, Rock, Punk and Hardcore bands that launched in the Bronx. This was a great idea when one considers how members of KISS, Twisted Sister, The Dictators and New York Dolls all called The Bronx their home. This interesting exhibit will run until 1/12/26 so if you're curious about checking it out you don't have a whole lot of time left to look into it. So the museum itself is quaint but very fascinating and is located in the Valentine-Varian House, near Montefiore Medical Center. For me it was a steady, and very long D train ride but then only a few short blocks walk up Bainbridge Avenue. I was told that they are open to the public on the weekends and since I was doing a media appointment I was able to secure some private time today without anyone else milling about. Having a limited window, I only examined the main floor rooms, two of which were for the "Uptown Rumble" presentation and the other for a small George Romero exhibit. I would discover that the rest of that one is running concurrently at the Poe House and since time was not on my side I was unable to visit that location for the rest. There is a historical piece on one of the opposing hall walls and I observed some sports figures on the other side but since I was on a clock, I had to focus on my needs before letting them get back to work. Everything here is dedicated to and focused on being from The Bronx which is nice to find existing even though I'm from faraway Brooklyn. Though I didn't detect an open Wi-Fi, there was a restroom downstairs that was able to be used by the public. As I was pressed for time I didn't get to look around any further downstairs or investigate the upstairs section. Part of me feels that upstairs would be office space for the folks that maintain the museum and curate the exhibits or for talks but this is just a guess. Though I cannot ascertain when my return will be I would like to check the place out once again provided the exhibit matches a need by one of my websites. That's all I've got on this one and as mentioned earlier, if the "Uptown Rumble" exhibit interests you, there are only a few short weeks remaining to examine it.

The 2 hour walking tour of the hells kitchen area is a must book! I booked online directly with the website and paid about $35 per person. On a friday night at 8 pm, this was a great way to kick off halloween season with my friends. I had a few questions along the way, but owner Elise always answered my emails quickly. Meghan our tour guide was incredibly informed, animated and a sweetheart to spend the night with. she was engaging and really was into the stories and facts about this area of town. My suggestion? Meghan should have a microphone or something better to project her voice. she was great, but it was hard to hear at times due to the loudness of the city and her voice being on the lower side. I also think her candle lit lantern should be brighter or bigger. we had issues finding her, but to our surprise we were within a few feet from her. my favorite part of the tour and what made this unique were the candy that Meghan gave us in the beginning, and the sheet at the end with all of the facts and story names that we heard. i have been on so many tours and always have to rush taking notes or googling things as the tour happens that i end up loosing info or missing out on hearing items, but this printed out list of facts was a HUGE help.

Actually, "tour guide" brings to mind those boring school trips we all inevitably experienced at some point during childhood. She instead gifted us with a lively, fascinating journey, which was equal parts TED Talk, one-woman-show, & incredible (as well as incredibly macabre!) NYC history lesson! The whole experience was as wildly entertaining & informative as it was inspiring, even to this jaded, native New Yorker. Highly recommended!!!

It's a great tour but I think if they revised the name to "haunted" or "spooky", it would be closer to the actual tour. Which is a history of massive deaths in the Brooklyn area. The tour goes from Williamsburg, to the Navy Yard to back up. You actually learn a lot about the Cobble Hill area. Tyler and Danny were great and so knowledgeable!! Not sure if this is a repeatable tour, but it definitely is worth it! Also come on the earlier side bc seats fill up quickly! I think I was only 1 of 3 locals. Everyone else were tourists. We did not go to any real haunted sites or cemeteries. At one point the driver simply pulled over on the side of the highway and pointed out a cemetery in the distance. I could not believe that counted as part of the experience. Overall this felt like a waste of money and time. It was crowded, disorganized, and the storytelling lacked excitement. She was not engaging, seemed tired, told us of all her physical ailments as part of the tour and paused awkwardly and often during her narration. The stories were delivered in the manner of a 7th grader giving an oral report in history class. The police even rolled up at one point as we were standing in front of someone's house and our guide just turned around and walked off in the middle of what she was saying. Ghost tours are basically just entertainment with well told stories given out in spooky locations and this was none of those.

We started off at the Washington Square Arch then ventured off the neighborhood. I saw whet Mark Twain used to live and ghost from the past always make an apparition. I never see any ghost from all the tours I've done but hearing the stories about it makes me excited. New York has a lot of history, this is just one tour and there are som much more neighborhood to visit. I'd definitely do another tour from this company for another neighborhood.
