Super quick service and a great choice for lunch or dinner! The tenkomori ramen comes with your choice or broth, noodles, pork slices, bamboo shoots, and seaweed. They give you a tray to add extra ingredients a la carte including chicken karrage corn and soft boiled eggs. We arrived at Tenkomori George Street/Regent Place after a movie at Events Cinemas, and my friend and I ordered and paid for the food at 8:54pm last night, 27 August 2024. (I checked my debit card payment time). If they were closing at 9pm, the cashier and the other lady should have told us that they close at 9pm or they only do take-aways. I would have totally understood. There were still about 5 other people eating in their dining area besides my friend and I. Then the guy whom I believe work in the kitchen suddenly started closing and putting chair on top of the tables. He was trying to hurriedly close the restaurant transparent enclosure/cover but it got stuck and he could not close it. After struggling for a few minutes, he called his guy workmate to help him. Then, without even looking sincerely eye to eye with us he just told us to move to the next table with a tiny seating and with chairs already placed on top, so they could use our table to stand on it and fix the enclosure from the top. He took my finished bowl of ramen and brought it to the kitchen without saying anything. His OTHER workmate apologised that we had to move. And it was around 9:15 and my friend is still halfway done with his large bowl of chicken karaage, and this same RUDE guy came out and again, without looking sincerely eye to eye he just told my friend to take away his unfinished food! Then he brought a container (without a takeaway spoon), and I was already trying to calm myself down. So I apologised to him and told him that I wish the cashier had informed us they were closing even the dining area very soon. WITHOUT LOOKING AT ME HE JUST RUDELY SAID "They should have told you but I don't know why they didn't." I just calmly observed him, because I am a chef for over a decade and I did not want him to ruin my night. And I am very understanding of hospitality workers. But I won't let his rudeness slide. If he talked to us sincerely first and had to apologise that they were already closing the entire dining area, and if it was okay for my friend to take away his unfinished food instead, then I would have responded in kindness. But that guy was downright rude and I just had to let it known to put a stop to this rudeness directed at the customers. If you want to close at exactly 9pm, DO NOT ACCEPT ORDERS FROM 8:30PM ONWARDS CONSIDERING THE CLEANING PROCESS. We did not even stay there for 30 minutes and we were treated like that! I will not blame all of them, but that ONE particular guy should not be working for customer service. read more

This is a review of two bites of "ramen". The "tonkotsu" is really just milk that tastes vaguely of pork, with garbage-smelling pickles thrown in, a very lean pork slice that I didn't care to eat, and an egg. With a broth sickly white and unappetizing, I didn't feel this bowl of noodles were worth my calories. Save your money and go elsewhere. Would I come back? No. I think I'd have to be paid to eat this, and that's in the realm of 3 digits at least. Not nice at all. read more

From one good ramen review to a bad ramen review. It was a sad day when I encountered this place. I was definitely tricked by this place. My inner (well and outer) asian came out and was attracted to the sub $10 price for a large bowl of ramen. Like no way!!! Yeah no way indeed. My bowl was just soup, noodles and a few veges here and there. Not even an egg in it let alone meat. It was a very very very sad meal. The area around town hall should be called Japantown and its a good thing because I heart Japanese food because its good on the calories/figure (there's a reason why you don't see too many fat Japanese people!). This place is highly recommended if you love ramen and the cheapness of Hana Hana. Perfect for students who can't afford to go to the upmarket ippudo in Westfields or those living in the city, it's another reason/excuse not to cook. read more

I love everyone slurping around me!! That's a first. I'm a little jealous that I decided to go with the miso base. My "healthier" side wanted a lighter broth and this bowl is quite light. I've added corn for some colour and it had a good portion of green. Noodles were so so. First time I haven't ordered the preferred density but they were nice to the bite. At $4.80 for a regular plain miso ramen you can't go wrong. Many other options including garlic, breaded chicken, of course pork and more. Spring rolls were crunch and delicious $1 each. Gyoza were $3 for 3. The ambiance is fun, like an indoor courtyard. But Next time I'll try my fav silky tonkutsu!! read more

And by the look of the decorations in store I believe this shop is from the same group as another two Japanese restaurants just two blocks down the road. With a menu of about 10 different Ramen meal and 3 options for the soup, the choices are pretty decent for a quick lunch/dinner in the city. The most important thing is that the food are cheap! Price ranges from 6 to 8 dollars for the Ramen, and 2-ish dollars for each side dish. The food is about average, with the Ramen's pretty fresh and the soup is good, but the Gyoza I've ordered appear over-cooked and very small in size. The side dishes tend to be a bit cold as well but it is still within acceptable range. Overall 3.5-4 stars. read more

MMMmmmm ... yeah it's not too bad. A problem about this place is seating since it's not an actual restaurant and it's first in best dressed. You line up, order what you want, choose entrees DIY style, move around the corner, get your ramen, pay and then find a seat while performing a balancing act with your tray of food puzzling your way through the narrow tables and avoiding stampedes of crazy divers. The soup base is not thick unlike Ippudo and Ryo's and lacks a punch of flavour. Noodles are more soft and their chashu's are very lean and small. For a quick ramen fix this could be the place to go. read more

I got my hopes up way too high for this place. As a lover of Menya's other ramen joints, I though I was in for a treat. Nope. Worst ramen I've had in Sydney. The tonkotsu broth tastes like salty milk, not the delisious Menya pork broth I was expecting that gets dished out at their "propper" ramen places in the city. I can however say that you can somewhat save you bowl by you choice of toppings. The kakuni pork is GOOOOOOD (especially torn up amongst the noodles) and the eggs are yummmmm. For a quick pre-cinema feed I'll probably head to the Menya Mappen udon joint rather than wandering back to Tenkomori. read more

First place I ate at after arriving in Sydney. It was very close to the hotel. I ordered the miso broth ramen. Did not add anything extra. The broth was a little salty but not too much so that I couldn't eat it. It was quick and there were tables available to sit. I did notice that there wasn't too many meat in the bowl but for less than $10, this makes a reasonable meal. I was hungry and I could have eaten anything at this point. read more

Worst ramen I have ever had. It is relatively cheap at $7.90 for the large tonkotsu ramen with egg but I'd rather spend that money on a Subway sandwich, or on four double cheeseburgers from McDonald's, or on ten packets of mi goreng from Coles. The broth was hideously salty and had no tonkotsu flavour whatsoever. The thin, uniform consistency of the soup suggested to me that it had been reconstituted from some kind of powder. read more

Bargain. Another stop whilst eating my way through Regent Place. I was happy to learn that I can get Ramen (spicy pork, tonkatsu broth, regular size), gyoza (4 pc), and a drink for less than the cost of my ramen alone at my usual spots up in the expensive part of town. Seriously, all of that rang in at a measly $14.20. Bargain. Sure, the broth may not be as thick as the more expensive stuff, and there may not have been as many veggies in my ramen, but sometimes sacrifices must be made by the savvy bargain hunter, and overall, I was happy with my lunch. Decent spot in the Regent Place complex for a fix of ramen. It's a bit hidden, you have to walk through the arcade off George Street and it's just before the down escalators and opposite the Japanese pub place. Unsurprisingly, Japanese ramen is the specialty here, there's not much else on the menu. The ramen at Tenkomori is cheaper than most other ramen joints (about $8-$9 for a bowl), however the ramen isn't as good as at other places in Sydney, the tonkotsu broth tastes too milky and lacks that porky flavour that tonkotsu ramen is renowned for. Still, for the price you pay I suppose you can't expect the greatest ramen ever, and the ambience and decor of the place is kind of fun, it feels a bit like a cafeteria the way you push a tray along the counter selecting drinks and side dishes before getting your ramen at the end. I would still suggest paying more and going elsewhere though if you can, there's better ramen to be had at nearby places like Ramen Zundo and Ichiban Boshi. read more
