As a repeat customer, I feel comfortable giving a fair review for this plant shop. Avoid it! I HATE saying that since it is a local/black owned business but I have several plants from them and only one is not a disappointment. My Regale had a bacterial fungus and the shop owner literally said that it must be from my environment. After I showed him pictures that he took of the plant showing the spots, he offered a replacement. The replacement has mealy bugs..... My Waroc also has mealy bugs. He did offer to come pick up the plant but how does that help me any? I have no plant at that point. My monstera cutting rotted even though everyone swears that as long at you have an aerial root, it should be fine. I messaged him for some help only to realize they don't help you when you have plant questions. Their prices may be good but don't bother. read more

I strive to support black owned business, but this experience has been ridiculous. I ordered from them on 12/17. Their page states orders will be shipped in 1-2 weeks, mine was shipped to my friend on 1/13. I had to ask for an update on the delay as none was given. They informed me they like to give USPS a break around Christmas (again there was no mention of this week I ordered). When it arrived, my friend sent me the pic below and I was so disappointed. Sent an email to Calvin, who made no attempt to rectify this situation in the least. I'm not even asking for a refund, but do something! I bought a plant from another black owned company (Crazy Plant Bae) who I would highly highly recommend. Their customer service and packaging of the plant was excellent. I purchased two plants from here - a large Philodendron Gloriosum and a large Philodendron Pastazanum, two of my long-time wishlist plants as a gift to myself for my birthday. The plants arrived potted, packaged really well, and the shipping time was quick. Having not been exposed to many pests in my time as a plant owner, I was unsure why these little dark spots kept popping up on the backs of the leaves and stems before the leaf would die. After some research, I figured out that these spots were in fact scale. Unfortunately, not before the scale had made it to several of my other plants at home. I bought 3 plants, all of which arrived damaged. One with scale. I contacted the company immediately they apologized for the few scales "that didn't look alive" and said to rub them down with alcohol. I've stayed in contact with the seller and let him know how upset I was. Less than 2 weeks later the plants look even worse, he offered a 75 dollar refund. I spent 450+ on these plants....... They do NOT specialize in shipping plants. The packaging had no distinguishing marks and no shipping receipt. No "This side up!"- it landed on my porch upside down. No "Fragile". No handling instructions. It was packed loosely with packing peanuts and the base was held together with shipping tape and a paper towel. The larger, more developed leaves were all broken. I addressed this on IG with NO RESPONSE. This had to be the saddest and most damaging unboxing I've done since the pandemic started. Upon opening my package I found mealybugs all over the plant and pot. As per their return policy, I contacted Tennessee Tropicals within 24 hours of receiving my order, explained the situation and sent photos as proof. They said I had a few options, return the plant for a replacement or refund, or keep and treat the plant and take a 50% refund. I chose to return for a full refund and they said to expect an email from stamps.com with a return label. A few weeks went by and I still hadn't received the label. I messaged again letting them know and was ignored. It's been over a month now and still nothing. I understand accidents happen and bugs can be missed but I'm so disappointed with how this has been handled [or not handled in this case] and will never order from them again. read more

In terms of quality, the plant I received was very well cared for, healthy and strong. I say this because I have ordered plants from many companies across the US and it is rare to find high quality plants that are carefully packaged and wrapped. However, it took months for this company to ship my plant due to the cold weather in my region. This is understandable. When the weather finally warmed, my plant was shipped via USPS. I was surprised that given the company'all concerns about shipping that USPS (and USPS overnight) were the only two options as USPS tends to be the least reliable shipping service available. My package should have been delivered in 3 days but, thanks to USPS took a week to arrive After it was shipped. I would order from them again but only if they offer a more reliable shipping option from FedEx or UPS. read more

I pre-ordered a plant back in December and received it in March. Plant was looking healthy however was damaged badly from shipping. The stems and leaves were snapped and turned yellow the next day. I reached out to them immediately and they responded very quickly. They offered 30% refund if I were to keep it. They can do better with shipping and packing, but I'm overall happy with their customer service. :) read more

I am absolutely thrilled with Tennessee Tropicals! I downloaded the app just to review them. I saw that there were true monstera deliciosa cuttings for sale. Not the kind you see everywhere, the albos that everyone has are 9 times out of 10 a borsigiana which is still awesome but a TRUE deliciosa is rare! I was even able to snag an aurea borsiginia cutting which is the "it" plant right now! Customer service was topnotch received the plant sooner than I expected. Said 1-2 weeks to process for shipping but I got my two VERY rare cuttings in a week. I am beyond words so happy to have come across this nursery and I look forward to purchasing some more rare aroids and plants from them. Thank you so much! read more

Really upset with their business responsibility. This is written during the time of the pandemic and USPS is not delivering packages ontime. This is known by the guys at TT. It is their responsibility to make sure their product can survive in transit, otherwise don't ship. They knowingly shipped me my package with no expedited services and then blamed me I didn't upgrade shipping. I didn't know about the delayed times before hand, but they did yet sent it anyway and claimed no responsibility. I was super hopeful about this company when I ordered from them Because they're in Tennessee where I live and they have a great aesthetic! They also have an excellent selection. However, after I bought the plant I received an email which said to allow 1-2 weeks for the shipment to process. After two weeks of waiting I still had not heard anything from the company. I sent them an email and heard no response. So a few days later I sent an instagram message (since that's where I discovered them). No response. I sent them a Facebook message a few days after that and didn't hear anything. Finally 3 weeks after the order was placed I heard back. They were very friendly and apologized for the late response (which is why I am giving 2 stars instead of 1). They told me my order had been shipped. However, today when I received my anthurium pendulifolium the largest leaf on the plant was broken in the middle vein near the petiole so essentially the entire leaf is lost. The other leaves are smaller with lots of brown spots and dying edges. Overall pretty poor experience even though they are friendly! read more

I ordered a Cebu Blue Pothos from Tennessee Tropicals on October 16th. They took the money out of my bank account on October 19th but never shipped the order. I called them three weeks later and asked what might be happening, they told me that the tray of plants was dropped and damaged and that a new one should be on its way to me within one to two weeks. Fast forward to mid-November. I gave them three additional weeks with absolutely no communication and no emails, so I decided to call again. This time, I was told that the plant would be shipped out the following week with the restock and that I would receive an email updating me. I hung up hoping that it would be the case. Fast forward another two weeks. I call them again, and they tell me that they will look in to my order and call me back with an update. I never received a call so I called them back the following day and was told that my plant was pulled for shipment and that I would receive a tracking number the next day. It has now been two weeks since then, I haven't received a tracking number, or confirmation email, and, had I not called myself all this time, I would've received absolutely no updates of any kind. The communication with costumers is extremely poor not to mention the fact that they took the money out of my account three months ago without sending me the plant. If they didn't have it in stock they should've told me and immediately processed a refund, instead of leaving me on edge for three months while I waited to see if the plant would ever be sent to me. I have now called them once again and requested a full refund, and I can only hope that they will actually process it. I will be calling them until I get my money back. I am extremely disappointed in their customer service, especially because I was able to buy a good, healthy plant from them not a few weeks before my current fiasco began.
