For my love of sports, I dedicate my 2,200th Yelp review to all the tennis and pickleball enthusiasts in the world. This one is for you! On the weekend of March 7 & 8, 2026, I had the fun opportunity to attend the PPA Tour - SXY Newport Beach Open Semi-Finals Saturday and Championship Sunday. This wonderful venue was held at The Tennis & Pickleball Club in Newport Beach. It was walking distance from Fashion Island, but I ended up parking nearby and got shuttled to the event. Check-in was easy. Line went really fast. Staff was friendly and helpful. Tennis and pickleball courts were really nice and well maintained. Both Semi-Finals and Championship matches were held at the Humana Championship Court. Seating was not pre-assigned... first come first served. I was lucky to get pretty good seats on both days. Thank you! Bleachers seating was not the most comfortable. I forgot to bring my cushion. Oh well. There were a lot of participants and spectators. Various merch and service vendors plus Pickleball Central were present. Bought myself a custom sweater with cute quote "Great minds dink a like". Food and beverage options were limited. Luxury restroom trailers were located in the parking lot outside of the club. All singles and doubles matches were amazing. All pro pickleball players were spectacular in their game. It made for a really good venue although the PPA attracts so many players and fans that for this particular tournament, they probably need to add some additional food and beverage options! Courts are great although pending which court you play on, there may not be great options for spectators. All being upgraded: resurfaced, new fencing, nets and lighting. This is heaven to a club tennis player who has been paying member fees for decades and seeing all these improvements is so exciting. With Har-try clay courts and 8 pickleball courts they have the paddle sports covered. Juniors Academy is legit as many of their juniors dominate the USTA circuit. It keeps getting better and better so if you have a choice to join a club in the area, RCI is the best choice.

If you go before 9 a.m., some of the courts are slightly wet from the morning sprinklers. Sometimes you get older, more serious tennis players who get upset when the students' balls bounce into their courts. That can be annoying, because you shouldn't have to feel bad about your beginner tennis skills during classes. And, if they're really that serious, they should join a tennis club. Easy to get to from MacArthur, hidden from street view, and easy parking.

Liveball is played like doubles with a champion's side and a challenger's side. Both teams play out points and once one team gets to a number of points they win and another team rotates in! Also she does classes for groups, individuals or even hitting sessions if you want to have a partner to play with. Normally it is in Irvine or Newport area for Orange county but of course it can be customized if needed. I booked theses classes (lessons) through Classpass and it was great having the confirmation. She brings about 100 tennis balls along with rackets if you need but of course you can bring your own racket as well. Highly recommend this relaxed totally tailored approach to Tennis lessons!
