STILL THE BEST SOCIAL DECISION I MADE SINCE MOVING TO DC. Really is 50% kickball and 50% happy hour...very few people from DC, so this is an excellent way to meet some new life long friends. I love looking up at the Washington Monument on a Thursday evening as the sun is going down from first base thinking "I wonder what all my friends are doing back home right now?" Whether you already have a team of players, a group of 3-9 friends you want to play with, or just joining by yourself, their awesome staff will take care of you and get you all set up during registration. There are a couple other leagues in DC (think some of them are even more expensive), and I have more people coming from those leagues because they really werent very "fun",

I'm going to go ahead and say it, there were dudes on other teams that just made it so unpleasant to be on field. I think we get into this hoping it will not be like our kickball experiences in middle school, and usually during every game, there was a moment where I felt like "really? I thought we were adults." DC Kickball, unlike some other city teams, does not hire refs, which I think is fine. Refs are volunteers from teams that are not playing. What upset me the most was that dudes from some of the teams argued every call, not letting it go, ganging up on the volunteer refs. I certainly won't be playing next season.

First, it's an ADULT KICKBALL league that focuses more on the social aspects than the actual sport. Sure, most of the players are in their mid to late 20's but there are older players as well (like me). I am in the military as well and Dan has been nothing but wonderful when it came to dealing with military issues. Hell, he donated kickball gear that we are sending downrange for the troops to play to have a little fun. How awesome is that?!? You can't go wrong with this group. It is a ton of fun and the people are all great. The parties are a blast and it's a really fun way to meet new people in a neutral environment. I have yet to meet someone I did not like. Give it a try...after all, you're never lonely when you're NAKID! ;-)

My friends and I signed up for the Thursday night winter dodgeball league and, less than a week before the first game, we received an email notifying us that the day of games was changed to Wednesday and the location had changed as well... Well, it turns out most folks on the original team couldn't make Wednesdays (because we're adults who planned to join a Thursday league and not a Wednesday league), so we tried to get in touch with them on a multitude of platforms to request refunds. This is how that went: - 5 of us sent multiple emails to their listed email addresses (info@playnakid.com and dc@playnakid.com) requesting refunds and all of our emails have gone unanswered; - we called the number listed on their website/facebook page/yelp page (855-466-2543) but the number has been disconnected; - I have reached out via the Feedback option on their website, which has been unanswered; - I TWEETED at them...but they haven't posted a new tweet since 2015...and... -I wrote this yelp review - which I don't think will do much good, but I'm frustrated and needed a platform in which to tell the Yelp World about how unorganized, unprofessional and overall shady this organization is. My recommendation: choose another league to throw balls at people's faces!! AND NAKID - GIVE US OUR REFUNDS, DAMMIT.

When asked about a partial refund, the owner said no and shared this policy: Bradley Baseball Academia does not issue refunds on our Teams, Bus Tours, Scout Days, Lesson Packages, Camps, or Rentals. All sales are considered final once the first activity (Individual Lesson, Team Practice, etc.) has taken place. Other baseball academies around town do not operate this way; they do not even have a refund policy. That BBA even has a refund policy indicates this is a practice for this business.

Im so excited to have this ice rink back! This is my first time doing a DPR activity so I made the…read moremistake of thinking I could just walk in and buy a ticket! The ticketing system IS CONFUSING AND NOT designed well at all. There is no phone number, so hopefully you can read and use the internet. You need to register for a DPR account, and upload proof of residency if you reside in DC and want the resident pricing. The people who verify your residency are working weekdays. The site states it may take 7-10 days to be approved. Everyone who creates an account will automatically be a non-resident until they're approved. If you're planning to participate, CREATE YOUR ACCOUNT WEEKS BEFOREHAND. Other than that, it's pretty simple. The staff scans your ticket upstairs, you get your rental skates and go on the ice! I was not informed that figure skates existed. That would've been helpful since the hockey skates were a bit uncomfortable for me. I'm glad they have options though.

Fort Dupont Ice Arena is Washington's best kept secret. It's the only indoor ice skating rink in…read morethe city of Washington, D.C. It's not Metro accessible, explaining why many people don't know about it, but there is a large free parking lot next door as well as a Capital Bikeshare dock. The space itself is clearly built in a different era, but they have maintained it well for not having a lot of funding. A non-profit runs the arena and it is mainly used for non-profit programming for youth who ice skate. However, they keep the ice rink open every day from 9am-4pm and rentals are affordable ($5 for adults and $4 for seniors and youth). If you're looking for a fun, family activity in DC, check the Ice Arena out. It's such a fun thing to do!

8/12/21 After visiting the Martin Luther King Jr Memorial,…read more I started heading back to The Washington Monument on a warm Saturday morning on August 7th.  I started hearing a lot of noises and saw something going on just past the The District Of Columbia War Memorial. I checked out the The District Of Columbia War Memorial before heading to JFK Fields.  I have been to these fields before as a kid.  However, these fields were empty. I also had no knowledge of the DC streets. Nevertheless,  on this particular day,  the fields were full of life.  Girls and boys were playing American Football.  On some fields girls were practicing soccer.     I passed by a young boys football team who were wearing black and purple.   My kind of colors.  Some of them seemed to like my black and purple baseball jersey. Only time will tell if this actually happens to these kids.   There are two public bathrooms by this field, but the circular one was the busiest.  In my honest opinion the farther bathroom  had a better feel and look. It was clean without the heavy stink of...human gas.  I saw that the bathrooms are watched by staff and regularly check the facilities during the sports activities.  Nevertheless,  it started to rain, but this did not stop the kids from playing or the proud moms and dads from cheering for their kid(s) to succeed.   Finding out what all the hubbub was about was worth visiting JFK Fields.

This is the kind of spot you want to share only with your good friends. The courts have lights, tight nets, blue playing surfaces free of cracks and ragweed, and plenty of free parking.
