I personally like the monthly tournaments and the seasonal leagues. TennisDC does an excellent job of keeping the entry fees low and reasonably priced, while still providing great prizes from a sponsor (Tennis Warehouse gift certificates!). I like that TennisDC's website will keep track of your stats like your Win-Loss record (by year and in total), % of games won, and other fun tidbits of info. The people I've played have mostly been friendly and easy to work with on playing times/locations. Every now and then, there will a guy who throws a tantrum on the court. It's annoying, and I just try to avoid playing these people in the future. This seems to happen in every sport men play competitively, and I've seen it less in this league than other ones in DC, but such is life.

I was sorely disappointed. First, the building from the outside looks big, spacious and bright. On the plus side: The pool looks great -25yards and wasn't that busy on a Saturday morning. The locker room was ok. plenty of lockers (they give you keys to), showers were clean. On the not so plus side: the weights/cardio room is just one room, not all that big and limited in what it has. It felt like what you'd find in a big hotel versus what you'd expect a University to have. There were maybe 4 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, a few bikes, and some loose weights. The aerobics class was ok if you are 65+ (which almost everyone there was). The instructor started 10-15mins late, then ended 5mins late thereby starting the next class late as well. The instructor lead an ok class for a senior fitness group but she needed to loose at least 50lbs and therefore her form on lunges or even squats was awful. So, if you are a senior this is a 4* gym, costs only $85/quarter! If you are younger, and have to pay more, it is more like 2* and I would not recommend.

I started hiking with Goombay in 2023 and years later I feel like I've found my tribe. I scrolled through pictures to share and in just 1 year I have participated in hiking, camping, skying, kickball, dodgeball, adult field day and game nights. We're off to Jamaica soon as well. The adventures go on! Out of these activities I have met life long friends. I look forward to each camping trip like a kid going off to camp.

When we were shopping around, one pool was so crowded there were no chairs to sit on and another pool wouldn't even let us in to look around until we joined. My kids love the high dive (the only pool with one), they have fun socials, the other members are very laid back (no drama from my perspective) and the swim team is AWESOME!
