A group of us were in town working on Easter Sunday and started looking for a place open that day. We decided to drive 45 min and give this place a try. I am happy we did. Selena, her family, and her staff welcomed us in, and within a short time, we felt like we were at a friend's house. The food is worth a 45-minute drive, but getting to meet and hang out with Selena and her family is worth a flight and hotel stay!

I was driving by, famished from not having breakfast though it was nearly noon. I was tempted by the waitress, owner, manager Rosie to have the enchiladas. But then she said she had some special beef soup. I asked about caldo de pollo, but she said not that day. So the beef soup I had. Wow. A huge chunk of extremely tender brisket a baseball-size potato, two sections of fresh cabbage, diced carrots, and an extremely aromatic and tasty beef broth, served with three freshly steamed corn tortillas, and a halved tiny lemon, made this the perfect filling meal I was hoping for. It took me a good 45 minutes just to consume it -- eating extremely quickly as I did. I left not a drop. Of course, I can't comment on what I didn't eat. But the soup was perfect, the service as attentive as I'd ever want (I met the son, I got a brief history and verbal tour of the area). If I come back to Eagle Pass to play poker at the great 11-table room in the casino, I'm eating here again. And I recommend it to any poker players who happen on this review.
