My beloved husband's birthday trip to Tagaytay was a bit disappointing due to the fact that it was storming, and we couldn't see the volcano from our seat at the restaurant. So, we decided to have another try at a birthday dinner a few weeks later and came to this amazing restaurant.
The first thing we always look at when we come to a teppan place is how they care for their grill, and Teppan Okochi keeps their grills spotless. We knew we were in for some well-prepared food.
As an American, I am used to the circus atmosphere at teppan restaurants - you know, the onion volcanos, spatula flipping, etc.
This is not that sort of teppan place. This is elegance and grace.
The food here will typically set you back a few hundred bills, depending on your particular culinary selection. The particular spread in our pictures amounted to considerably more than that. But it was most definitely worth it!
The service is on point, and the food is beautifully prepared and absolutely heavenly to the taste.
My favorite items we chose were the wagyu beef, the garlic fried rice, and the strawberries. We ordered a tray of the strawberries to take home, in fact. My husband adored the sashimi, the crab, and the wagyu.
What was quite charming was that the waitstaff presented us with some complimentary gifts of sweets before we left.
My husband was quite happy with this birthday dinner experience. read more
