I hired Gary from Terramann in June 2025 for what was supposed to be a straightforward bathroom renovation and some handyman work. Instead, this project turned into one of the most stressful and costly experiences I've ever had with a contractor.
Despite paying over $7,000, only a fraction of the work was ever completed -- and what was done was either low quality, unsafe, or outright damaging to my property. Key issues included:
* Severe workmanship failures: A professional tiler later confirmed the shower was so poorly built that it cannot be repaired and it must be torn out and redone. The drain was installed too low, tile slopes the wrong way causing water pooling, trims and niche are misaligned, and waterproofing has been compromised. They didn't use proper flexible caulking in the shower corners, leaving gaps where water can get behind the tile. The ceiling was also damaged during demo and never repaired properly.
* Property damage: Patio stones, furniture, storage boxes, carpets, soffits, and even my back door were damaged by their negligence. Paint, stain remover, and grout water were spilled or dumped on my property with no protection used.
* Unqualified workers: Unskilled labourers were left unsupervised. Basic tasks like lock installation and patching were botched. Work dragged on for weeks with little to no progress.
* Breach of trust and poor communication: Gary repeatedly failed to show up, gave vague or misleading updates, and at one point told me "you're just a job." Payments I made were not transparently allocated, and I later learned some of my money had been diverted to another project.
Finally, after weeks of delays and damages, Gary walked off the job entirely leaving me with an unfinished, unsafe bathroom, a mess of construction debris, and thousands of dollars in losses.
Bottom line: Based on my experience, I strongly caution anyone considering Terramann. Do your due diligence and avoid the nightmare I went through. read more
