I stayed here as part of a 7-night package through Azores Getaways in January 2020, and the hotel met and exceeded all expectations. Of course you can find issues with any hotel - there isn't a hotel on Earth that I couldn't nitpick something about, but there's nothing about Terceira Mar Hotel that has tarnished my overall very happy impression. As other reviews observe, the highlight of this facility is the view of Monte Brasil against the ocean. Apparently all rooms face the same direction and all of them have this view. It's stunning! On top of that, the pool & rear grounds are well kept & add nicely to the presentation. Even in January it was a delight to sit on my balcony and behold this sight. Beyond that, there is professionalism behind everything here. The reception staff and the cleaning crew were, in particular, very much on top of everything. I had breakfast every morning in the restaurant, and while it was a very satisfying buffet, which is included in the stay, it was pretty normal for them to get a bit behind on stocking up on everything (especially the juices). That restaurant also has brunch and dinner hours, and while I did get dinner there a couple times, it was a little pricey for me. Quality was good, though. In addition to the restaurant, there are several lounges which were often the scenes of lively activity. But no area on these premises was more high-energy than the huge third-floor fitness center. I'm pretty sure it's also open to locals, because there was always a lot going on in there, including spin classes. There's also a modest pool & jacuzzi. But if an on-site fitness center is important to you, you will certainly be very, very satisfied. My room was large and comfortable. I was by myself, and my bed was two twins pushed together. Fine. Nice shower, sink, bidet, etc. And again, I just loved sitting out on that balcony and enjoying where I was. If you're staying here through Azores Getaways, you'll be glad to see they have a desk in the lobby manned every day to answer questions or help with anything involving your package. Distance from town might be a problem if you want to be in the city center a lot but don't like a lot of walking. It was great for me, but I like a lot of walking. If you have a car, you can park it in their outdoor lot, their indoor lot, or if those are full there's plenty of street parking. (There is a lot of activity in the parking lot, but I don't think it was ever totally full.) You might feel like you're missing out on some of the charming modesty of an independent hotel if you stay here; this is part of a Portuguese chain called Bensaude Hotels. If you're more into cute-bed-and-breakfast type of travel, you might try someplace else. I like that too, but I was very grateful to have such a well-operated place to stay in Terceira. At no time was I glancing jealously at other hotels when I was touring this island.

We loved our stay at the Terceira Mar Hotel! Centrally located, Terceira Mar Hotel is a five minute walk from Angra, there's also some interesting restaurants five minutes west of the hotel. Our room had a beautiful view of the Atlantic, the old whale watching station, and the cliffs. The staff lets you stick around an hour or so after breakfast has concluded which is good because they have a couple of those one-touch coffee machines that will make you anything you want. Wi-Fi connected great and worked without issue, there's a large fitness center, and a nice common room where we got to see a Portuguese league game featuring Porto which was a lot of fun.

Incredible hotel with unbeatable views. Everything here has gone above and beyond expectations. The view from the hotel (rooms and dining room) overlooks the ocean. There is a pool literally 30 feet from the water overlooking the ocean as well. The front desk staff were extremely helpful and were happy to offer detailed advice about where we should visit during our one day here. The price was unbeatable and more than worth it. Breakfast is great and WiFi is fast. It was really nice to be able to rent a car right from the hotel as well (they have a car rental office on one of the floors!). I can't recommend this place enough and hope to return in the future.

In all honesty the best part of this hotel is the view. We stayed in a third floor room with a balcony that overlooked the pool and ocean and the view was breathtaking. Aside from that however the hotel leaves much to be desired. The rugs both in the rooms and hallways are stained and even torn in some places, the furniture looks old and pretty beat up and the place can use a fresh coat of paint. The bathrooms can also use some upgrading. The hotel is located outside the town on Angra and is about a 15 minute walk from the city center. A cab will run you about 5 euros and the hotel staff will call one for you if you need one. There is a bar that serves light meals and a restaurant on site also. Breakfast was included in our rate and consisted of a buffet with a good selection. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. If you prefer to stay somewhere outside of town with a great view this is a good option. However if you're looking for something with more modern accommodations closing to the center of town this may not be the place.

This hotel really deserves his 4 stars! All of the rooms are on the lower floors looking out over the big outside pool and the Reserva Florestal de Recreio do Monte do Brasil. We also enjoyed the room. We had a huge bed which slept really good, a balcony to sit and enjoy the view and free access to the pool (you can get towels at the hotel reception which a voucher). You also have free wifi and your suitcases get carried to your room for you. The hotel also has a really good gym with several trainers. It was equipped with a lot of professional gym equipment and heavy barbells. We also tried the a la carte food in the restaurant. The veal steaks are a real recommendation and they also have a big menu of desserts. I would recommend the chocolate cake with lemon mousse and caramelized nuts. The breakfast was also very nice and comprehensive, although I missed soy milk and pancakes. You can try typical Azorean things here like the salted butter, bolo levedo, queijada and d'amelia. It also offers fresh fruit, all sorts of bread and typical English breakfast like sausages, beans and eggs. Some minus points for the gluestrips on the balcony where several salamanders got stuck on and died in a horrible way :(

Great hotel! Beautiful view from our private balcony on the third floor! If you would like complementary coffee in the morning make sure to purchase a room on the third floor.

This place photographs like a 4 star but sleeps like a 3 star. The bathroom also felt 2 star. Amenities and grounds were great but the rooms themselves felt a little lived in and the bathroom needs a revamp. Breakfast was meh although the bar food was quite good including the pork bife plate. Room service took over and hour and arrived cold so better to eat in person. read more
I enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Beautiful view from the balcony in our room. The room was spacious and clean. We learned to keep the drains closed to avoid the sewer smell. Would have given 5 stars except for the very uncomfortable bed. Breakfast buffet each morning was very good, with all the usuals. Eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, yogurt, cereal, large bread selection, meat and cheese and pastries. We also had a couple meals in the lounge she we didn't feel like waking to the town center during the rain. They were pretty average for hotel fare. The staff was friendly and professional. The grounds were beautiful. Would definitely stay again if I knew the bed situation was improved. read more

We had our wedding ceremony in the garden of the hotel outside by the ocean and the reception inside and it was absolutely magical. Living in the United States can make planning a wedding in the Azores quite challenging. However, it was made very easy for us by the hotel. I worked closely with Dário Toste from Terceira Mar and he made the planning for the wedding easy for us. The hotel staff were all very kind and courteous. Terceira Mar absolutely exceeded my expectations. The table arrangements and decor they included was perfect for our wedding. Also, their custom buffet menu options were a hit with all the guests. A special thanks again to Dário Toste for answering all our questions in a timely manner and making sure our special day ran smoothly. Everything was perfect. read more

Fantastic hotel! Great views from all the rooms and great staff to help with all your needs. We had 1 of the receptionist going around the hotel to chase down a beeping noice that was bothering my wife's ears. And then they even sent a bottle of champagne to our room for the inconvenience. Now that's service even if it was my wife's own beeping. Although it is considered the off season and we were unable to take advantage of the pool area to its full potential it was a very pleasant stay. They have full amenities and free parking inside and out. Tennis courts, indoor pool, outdoor pool, gym, Restaurant, free buffet breakfast! read more

What I liked: 1) Location: walkable to the town center, where many stores and nice restaurants locate, MIH museum, the garden, Monte Brasil and fishing village San Mateus.... Our room on the ground level had the view of the hotel garden, outdoor pool and some rock and ocean view. Sitting at the patio was very re We did not take the bus but have seen them stop near the hotel many times. 2) The daily breakfast buffet included in our travel package offered sufficient choices even it never changed during our visit. And the service was good. What I wished to improve: 1) Every time we stepped in our room after being out we smelled something musty or moldy that we couldn't wait to open the patio door to air it out! 2) Couple times we found the patio door was unlocked when we got back later in the day even though we were sure that we locked the door before we left. Maybe the housekeeping forgot to lock it? Luckily this area is pretty safe that we did not feel any threat. Still... 3) every time when I was in the bathroom, I noticed there were one or two tiny bugs running in and out between the edge of the carpet in the guest room and the tile in the bathroom. They looked harmless. Still..... Overall, we were happy with our experience here and would recommend it even to our own family! read more
We paid a little more in our package to upgrade to this hotel, and I am glad we did. The staff was pretty nice, and helpful. They are on a schedule though with booking groups so it might be tough to do stay here without a flight deal. Our room was pretty comfortable as we were on the ground floor, accessible to the gym and the outdoor pool - even though it was still too cool to swim. The gym is one of the biggest I have seen attached to a hotel, but I think it's because it is like a true fitness gym that happens to be inside the hotel. They offer classes and there was a ton of equipment and machines. The breakfasts that came with our meal was great. I loved waking up and seeing the view of the ocean from the restaurant dining area. We were able to walk around town to get to restaurants and places to see. We were afraid that we would be stuck in town because of bad weather in the US, and if that was the case we would have tried staying here. read more
