He was the perfect tour guide for 6 friends on an adventure who were impressed with his historical knowledge, quick wit, and love for his island. We got to experience an once in a lifetime bull "chase" from a locals home, enjoyed fantastic food (ask about the local beef dish) and got a full tour of what the island had to offer.  His company may be called Taxi Amigo, but he was definitely more of an amigo than simply a taxi. And the noise factor is something to be considered as well. 4 stars for location on the square, 2 stars for the room, 3 stars for the service. All in all? Gui handled our transfer to and from the airport and served as our tour guide while we were on the island. We took both the city tour, a walking tour of Angra de Heroísmo and on the next day took the full day tour of the island. Gui was extremely knowledgeable about both the islands rich traditions and history. Hands down an absolutely amazing experience. We hope to be back soon.

The best first day of the rest of our lives together! My new…read morebride and I traveled to Terceira with our family to get married. After searching Instagram for pictures of the island, we had stumbled across Juca's photographs. We immediately contacted him and begged him to be our photographer. He kindly agreed, although he had never done this before. He specializes in guided tours of archeological sites, photography tours, hiking, and food & wine. Juca was a true professional that has an unmatched passion for fine photography. Juca was incredible--his knowledge of the island was something you don't get with the other guides in Terceira. We have been there three times before and done multiple tours, but we will never book anyone but Juca again. He was funny, spoke perfect English and has a wealth of knowledge. By the end of the trip, he felt like family. He knows just the right places to eat and will take you to locations that are on no map. Believe me, I thought I knew every inch of the island, but every place he brought us to left us speechless. Trekking in our wedding attire is one of our favorite moments. Of course our ceremony is a day we never want to forget, and because of Juca, we won't. His pictures are such high quality I will probably look at them daily for the rest of my life in disbelief. While on the island, we also had the chance to meet his beautiful family and felt so at home with them, we invited them to our wedding reception as well. Marisa helped book meals and even sent us recipes for our favorite dishes. To say that they are the epitome of hospitality would be an understatement. I can not possibly recommend them enough. All I can say is book early and often. We will be heading back to the island as soon as we can and I can honestly say, Juca and Marisa will be the first people we reach out to.

But everything was pretty great for the price. + Free breakfast included with my hotel stay. There was a breakfast buffet of the same things everyday: scrambled eggs, assortment of breads, breakfast juices and other drinks, stewed mushrooms, beans, yogurt, breakfast meats, and cheese. My go-to everyday was the Yogurt with honey, azorean bread, meat and cheese to make a sandwich, scrambled eggs, pineapple juice, and a piece (or two) of their breakfast cake. Quite yummy for free breakfast with the hotel! + Bar & Restaurant upstairs - I never ate a full meal here or took advantage of the buffet they offered but the bar was a place where my group hung out a lot. We had a group of 14 people so the bar was a great place for us to gather and relax in the evenings. Angela, the bartender in the evenings, was definitely the best! As you've probably seen from other reviews, Angela was the best and she made the best mojitos. She was meticulous in all the things she did and it showed in all the drinks she made. She made sure we always had everything we needed...her service was really great. She also gave really good recommendations so ask her about a local drink or wine! The cakes were the best part too - I loved their Donna Amelia cakes! So cheap too. The other meals were just OK. It made due when we didn't feel like venturing outside. I would suggest going out to eat to a local restaurant if you can though. + Free Wifi - reliable and worked well. + Indoor and outdoor pool. The indoor pool was heated so that was convenient since when we went, it was chilly. + Right next to the beach so plenty of people came by to go swimming in the ocean. Cons: - The location was just OK. I noticed it was further out from the town than the other hotels that were offered with the package for a higher price. That would have been more convenient if it was closer to town since that's where we'd go walk and get foods. - Breakfast could've been changed up a bit. It was the exact same thing daily so I got tired of it after a full week. If you stay for longer, you probably rather go out to eat. - The rooms were clean and comfortable but the beds were separate but I think that's very typical for European hotels, esp. in the islands. I really recommend this place, esp. for the price! If you are traveling by car, the location really isn't a huge deal. I'm also sure it's even better in the summer since you can go into the ocean and enjoy the outdoor pool. Right now, they are doing lots of renovations so I'm sure the hotel will be even prettier and better in a few months!

The hotel offered a free daily breakfast with TONS of options. The hotel has a bar/ restaurant, free wifi, a heated indoor pool as well as an outdoor pool. The rooms were clean and the views were spectacular. The hotel is not located in the center of town but is only a 3 minute drive away. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
