The Institute of Reading Development Summer Program was great!  My 3rd grade son is behind in…read morereading and has Dyslexia.  While this program is not Dyslexic specific, it is a well-balanced reading program.  The price of the program was $391 for 5 weeks of online and in person instruction and the books.  That comes out to about $65 an hour for the in person class time.  But you also get 3 online lessons a week to do at home.  We pay more than that for dyslexia tutoring.   There is an in person class once a week for an hour and 15 minutes.  Ours was at SDSU.  They allow parents to stay and sit in the back if they'd like.  There are 5 books (one book a week).  The books are very fun and entertaining.  There are 3 online lessons (about 20 minutes each)  to complete in addition to the at home reading.  The lessons are: Phonics, Comprehension, and Fluency.   Overall, I would recommend this program to anyone who has a struggling reader.  My son is going into 3rd grade, but did the incoming 2nd grade program because he is a year behind in reading.  It helped him read better and not regress over the summer.

Until last October 2025, I would have given them 5 stars all day long. But they changed how they…read morerun their program and I can no longer recommend IRD... and I used to tell everyone I knew about how great IRD is. My biggest complaint is that they stopped sending physical books for proper children's literature for the kids to read. Now want them to read ONLINE ONLY their proprietary stories, which thinking more about it now was likely generated with the help of AI - so basically AI slop. Get back to how you did things before, IRD. You were actually helping kids to become fluent readers before!!

This place is fantastic! We've used OnTrack for both of our daughters, even though they attended…read moredifferent high schools, and each of them came away more confident than before. Most recently, our younger daughter was initially reluctant to try tutoring. However, after receiving a disappointing grade on an Algebra II test, she decided it was time to get some extra help. She worked incredibly hard and earned a hard-fought C in the first semester. By the end of the second semester, she had achieved an A on her final exam and finished the class with an A overall! The experience has been excellent beyond the academics as well. Scheduling appointments and making changes is simple and hassle-free. Their communication is outstanding--professional, responsive, and easy to work with. Most importantly, the results speak for themselves. Highly recommend!

Tutor/student desks are very crowded, requiring tutor and student to sit side by side with…read moreshoulders practically touching. I had explicitly asked that the tutor help my high schooler with study skills that would help her with all classes, biology in particular. During the first session the tutor just asked my daughter what she wanted to work on. Not having worked with a tutor, she wasn't sure what to ask for, especially as it was the beginning of the semester so she had no homework for biology. They chatted for about 20 minutes, but not about study skills. Then the session was ended early since my daughter didn't have anything else to ask for, even though I had been required to pay for a full session beforehand. Study skills were never discussed. Also the tutor told my daughter that she (the tutor) didn't have much background in biology and was more of a physics tutor. All around disappointing. The owner did follow up with me directly after I complained and asked for a refund. He listened patiently, acknowledged that the requested focus on study skills had been a miss and apologized for the poor experience. His handling of the situation is why I gave a 2 star instead of 1 star.

My son started here as a Bubble. He doesn't have any developmental needs. My husband and I enrolled…read morehim because I used to work for PMP back in 2009 (covered Lafayette and Danville locations) and I passed their certification. I'm familiar with their curriculum and teaching style so I became a proponent of their establishment and mission statement. You'll find other places trying to emulate their curriculum but because their curriculum is trademarked, nothing compares. Also, Ross and Brian are both OTs, so they're very knowledgeable in anatomy and physiology -- meaning, they understand the human body and its mechanisms. My son is now a Sponge and I see significant improvements with his fine and gross motor skills including but not limited to handwriting and cutting. He is ergonomically holding pens/pencils and scissors properly. Also he's got excellent trunk control --way better than mine! I highly recommend PMP. So worth every penny. Jordan loves attending his class and he said he looks forward to being promoted to a Builder and then a Heavylifter one day!!

After just one class, I can see a significant change in his confidence. He writes his name and other letters on his own with no tears, and enjoys showing us how creative he is with his drawings. The staff really works with my rotating work schedule, and also work specially with my child's needs. The ticket system is gold!
