Food was excellent and so good. Server was kind! But I have some things to add…read more 1. I asked for a taste of a unique wine to see if I liked it. Server did not disclose that there was a charge for this, I think she should have because this is not a common thing to do at all. I'm a server and I would never charge someone for something without them knowing. I consider that stealing. 2. The appetizer came out after the food which happens and I get that mistakes happen but it just added more negativity to the experience. I think it should have been known by the server the order of the meal though. 3. Clicked the print receipt button and never got a receipt? Not a huge deal but just another negative addition. Why is the button an option if it wasn't meant to follow through with the action. 4. We asked to sit outside and there was no room which is fine. But when a deuce behind us asked to sit outside, they sat down inside and when the first table was open, they offered it to the people who were seated after us. Overall, this restaurant looks nice and the service was nice. I think this place could really improve in quality and numbers if they paid attention to the details. I would say we'd love to come back because the food was so good but the point of eating out is not just to enjoy food but have a good experience and enjoy your time and money. The negatives were unfortunately not worth it for us.

We arrived right when they opened, and the owner, Craig, gave us one of the best wine tasting experiences we've ever had. He took the time to explain wine in a way that made the whole experience so much more enjoyable and personal. I'll admit, my husband was hesitant when we first pulled up because the outside doesn't immediately scream "winery," but I told him to trust the process. I'm so glad we did because we ended up bringing home a case of wine with nine different varieties because we couldn't pick favorites. We loved them all. Craig also told us about their wine and food pairing dinners, which sound amazing, and his wife Candy does the meal pairings. We're already talking about getting a group together and making another trip back. Bonus: they also have a very sweet dog named Cooper who was the perfect winery greeter!

Our first…read moreimpression was that this place would be stereotypical WV: there was a gravel driveway, a no-frills farmhouse and pole barn with vinyl siding, and a dog barked at us from the kitchen as we pulled up. I figured at least we'd get a good story out of it. But when we got in, we were greeted by Craig and Candie who are the "mom and pop" of this mom and pop winery! Craig led us through the tasting of about 7 wines, and he shared historical information about WV wine country, grape lineage and history, the politics of wineries in WV, and most importantly what makes a "perfect wine". Suffice it to say we learned A LOT! And the wine was great too! We walked away with 6 bottles (they can't ship), and we plan to go back next time we're in town!

Coming back for a second visit over Memorial Day weekend honestly confirmed everything I thought…read morethe first time around. What started in January as a random stop traveling back from Florida has quickly turned into one of those places that feels impossible to pass up when we are anywhere nearby. This place was busy all afternoon, and honestly, I think that says everything about what Killing Tree has built out there. Great wine, great food, live music, a beautiful property, and a crowd that genuinely seemed happy to be there. It feels less like a winery and more like a community gathering spot. Shannon took care of us this visit and was fantastic from beginning to end. The fact that she remembered me from months ago completely caught me off guard and immediately made us feel welcomed back. That kind of personal touch matters and you can tell the staff truly cares about the experience people are having. The pizza was outstanding, the BLT with turkey added on was piled high, and somehow that bottle of Gosh Dang disappeared way too fast sitting out there in the sunshine. There is just something special about this place. Relaxed, welcoming, beautiful, and incredibly easy to lose track of time at. Already looking forward to trip number three.

Gotta say, the website was much more impressive than the actual place. This wasn't too far of a drive from Dresden Inn but coming back, we got turned around because of the lack of lights, signage and skinny roads. They have plenty of parking and the string of lights outside was cute. I asked the waitress TWO times whether the sweet potato fries for the sandwich entree was extra and she confirmed TWICE that it was not an extra cost. Welp, upon paying, guess what? It was $4 extra! Just look at my picture to see that like 12 skinny AF fries are NOT worth the extra charge! Their house chips were great. I ordered the brie & jam sandwich and it was filling and delicious. I also ordered a crispy chicken salad and was pretty disappointed at the quality. I abhor cheese shavings on salad (they don't belong on salads!) and there was just mounds of very processed looking cheese. There was not enough chicken pieces for the price, too many croutons, no onion or enough tomato; just cheap lettuce. They don't serve regular glasses of water here. It was all crushed ice! We suspected they were just pre-wine slushies! This was really odd. There's not real wait service but since we sat upstairs, people needed to bring stuff up so I did tip a usual amount. I wanted to experience more of a country, made from scratch type of setting so was not too happy with the very Chilis/Applebee quality and presentation of their food.

We got there a little after 1:00 pm and they were super busy. The inside was small but there were plenty of seating outside. We didn't mind going out there despite the 30 degree weather. The view of the farm and vineyard was gorgeous to look at even with the snow. Before we went in, we greeted the sheep's in the front entrance. You can't miss the small barn. We stood in line and while we were waiting, we filled out the sheets and picked our 4 tastings. They range from dry, semi sweet and sweet. They also serve slushies and mulled wine. We ordered: Flight of 4 $10.00: -Dry Red- 2022 Free Run Norton -Dry Red- 2023 Marquette -2 Dry White-2023 Seyval Blanc -Dry Red-2022 Norton -Dry Red-Oaked Norton -Dry Red-2023 Alexander -Semi Dry Rose- 2023 Grower's Blush Appetizer: -Classic Charcuterie for two For food, they do have paninis and charcuterie trays. If you order, they give you a buzzer. When it goes off, you pick up your meal outside/food truck. Our favorites were the Alexander red and Seyval Blanc. So good that were purchased bottles to take home and had two glasses of Alexander after we finished our flight. I talked to the owners and they are very friendly and take pride in their wines & their farm. I highly recommend you pay them a visit. We had such a great experience and will definitely come back when in the hocking hills area. Make sure to check their hours because they are only open certain times and days of the week.

It looked very scenic and laid back too so we had to check it out. Glad we did because we really enjoyed it. Excellent wine, very relaxed atmosphere, and tremendous service. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon after some hiking. We just wanted a couple wine flights and maybe a charcuterie board since we saw they offer those. It was pretty busy already and we got there right after they opened for the day. Still, it wasn't super cold out, and we found comfortable seating on a porch outside. We started with two flights and a classic charcuterie board. Here are the wines we tried: -Dry Red- 2022 Free Run Norton -Dry Red- 2023 Marquette -Dry White-2023 Seyval Blanc -Dry Red-2022 Norton -Dry Red-Oaked Norton -Dry Red-2023 Alexander -Semi Dry Rose- 2023 Grower's Blush We enjoyed pretty much all the wines, especially the Alexander and the Seyval Blanc. Note that when ordering food, you order at the bar, then they hand you a pager, and you get your food at a food truck nearby when your pager goes off. Our charcuterie board was done pretty quickly and everything was tasty. So much so that we took our time to savor it along with a couple more glasses of wine. They do offer s nice range of wines too, from dry to sweet to all points in between. They also do seasonal wines like mulled wines in winter and wine slushies. Like a certain wine? You can buy a bottle and they offer 10% off if you buy six or more bottles. This is a great little winery and lots to offer. I can tell they're a big hit with locals and travelers alike with how busy they got quickly after opening up. Say hi to the sheep when you get there too!

I have brought several of my grape wine loving friends to Dutch Creek and they all leave pleasantly surprised with purchased bottles in hand. Love this winery's location too. Enough away from the hustling college town to provide a calm and pleasant experience, yet very convenient to the local restaurants to make for a lovely first course to your evening's meal. I can't say enough good things about this unique winery. Their bee to bottle process rivals any other wineries I've visited, which includes those of Germany and Italy that we have enjoyed. Yelp needs to create a special category just for Dutch Creek Winery.

My son graduated from Ohio University and we made a reservation for a party of 12. Despite that reservation, there was a considerable wait (about an hour) but that's not why I'm writing this review. We traveled from Pittsburgh to celebrate my son, so I brought a specially made cake from a local bakery that he loves. I asked the manager if we could serve that cake after the meal and not only did he decline, he was very rude. Even after I reminded him that we were on the verge of spending close to $1000 in his restaurant he would make no exception. I didn't make a fuss but after our meal when the waitress asked if we wanted dessert, we had a good laugh and said uhhhh no thank you. I hope the potential handful of desserts you thought we might be forced to buy was worth this one star review.

We were advised that they do take online reservations, so I'd most recommend that before making the drive out. We got seated on their patio and the views were absolutely gorgeous. I know the weather has nothing to do with the restaurant but if you get a chance to come here on a beautiful day and sit outside, it's truly an amazing experience. The service was nice, the man who was serving wine walked us through their offerings and helped up pick bottles we'd like. Our food server was also friendly and on top of making sure everything was going well. I do always appreciate when places leave me a pitcher or carafe of iced tea, because I really do go through my drinks like I was just lost in a desert for a week. The menu does change, when we were there the duck entree did look very tempting but ultimately I went with a chicken Caesar salad and French onion soup. Both were delicious and paired nicely with the complementary bread and garlic oil. I was very satisfied after my meal and I actually quite enjoyed my glass of wine. I'm not crazy about wine but the bobcat blush was sweet and delicious. I really hope I get to visit here again!
