The wines & food were delicious and reasonably priced. They have a cozy indoor area and an outdoor area that overlooks the vineyard & is Just beautiful! A long time patron to Rockside and a wine club member, NO MORE. This is a great place for the singles to mingle but if you want any family atmosphere STAY AWAY!!! They DO NOT want children or families to visit. They have posted NO KIDS on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays. So if you have any family stay away. This is the new singles hot spot in Lancaster. They have lost a lot of long standing business from my wife and I plus our 3 kids and grandchildren. Cancelling wine club membership, and will not return. read more

We decided to try Rockside tonight for a date night. I didn't check out the times they were open beforehand so that is on me. But we are arrived about 10 till 8 and they close at 9. We were served quickly within the hour we were there though so it wasn't bad. Tonight they had a food truck and it was delicious. I understand that they normally have pizzas here though so I can't really comment on food. Check their Facebook for current information before coming out! What I can comment on is the drinks! And they were DELICIOUS!! We got all 3 of the current specials. It's a Taylor swift menu and while I'm not a swiftie these are soooo good. One is a pomegranate/blackberry wine slush, a lavender lemonade wine slush, and a strawberry cream cotton candy cocktail. The service, location, and drinks were amazing. We also caught the tail end of a live music show. I'd definitely want to come back and check them out and have more time to just chill. read more

They also had a caramel apple slushy that also looked good which I'll try next time. We also ordered soft pretzels to munch on and they were only so-so. I suspect they were frozen. Just saw that a 21 and over rule was implemented. This is a total game changer!! We are so tired of going to breweries, wineries, distilleries and so many are bringing their children now. Rarely do you find a well behaved child, seated at table not making a scene...but they're kids, they need to run. This was our first visit. We were on our way to Hocking Hills for the weekend. We needed some time away from our busy schedules and to relax and enjoy the area. Our first stop was Rockside Winery and Vineyards. I read about how the owner did a business trip to Napa area, fell in love with the wine. Next thing you know he and his wife purchase a winer in 2006 Wyandotte Winery which we haven't been to yet. I loved the story because I've been in IT for 20 years, now a college professor and started to dabble in wine making 4 years ago. Maybe one day. We arrived and it was just us. We like peaceful. The gentleman at the front was amazing. He said about the flights and in which they only had 5 wines available for a flight. I learned that winter supply of dry red wine was evaporated. They only had a single red wine available. I liked what they had to offer. I liked the Steuben and Niagara. They were both decent wines. The guy at the front brought our wines out to us. He was so nice. They do have small plates that they offer as well. This is a place I want to stop back when it's warm outside. We live 3 hours away but always worth a day drive. read more

First time here. Met some friends who lived in the area for afternoon delight! The winery has indoor seating and plenty of covered seating outside. We sat outside and even though the temperature was over 90, the breeze made it nice! We each ordered the $5 flight which included 5 samples of wine. The presentation was awesome! It was a nice day outside (yay spring!)- so we decided to sample wines from this vineyard on a Sunday. Group of 4. This place not only sells wine bottles and $1 wine samples, they also sale food (appetizers and yummy pizza)! They're open for various hours Tuesday-Sunday. I can't wait to go back soon! Parking: small to medium sized parking lot. Probably ~ 20 spaces. Ambience: RELAXING! There's indoor, patio, and covered patio seating. We soaked up some vitamin D and sat outside in the uncovered patio section. Seating is appropriately socially distanced. The view from outdoor seating is beautiful! You can see the vineyard and beautiful land. Very relaxing setting outside of the city. Service: Fantastic! We received an overview of their sampling process, menus, and a greeting upon entry. After we placed our order, samples and food were delivered to the table by their team (along with an explanation of the sample order). We ended up ordering 6 samples (each), 4 bottles of wine (to go), and several glasses of wine. Quality: - wine: yummy! I love sweet wines but they also had dry, more bitter options available. I highly liked the sweet options! I recommend the RockSide Red if you like wines on the sweeter side. A close second is Blueberry. The Larboard was my least favorite sweet wine. It's about $8 (per glass)- $16 (per bottle) for wine. -food: Pizza and wine was a good pair. I highly recommend their four cheese pizza! It's about $11 for a 10 inch pizza. Price: $$ fair and worth it for wine. A bit pricey for pizza. read more

Cute setting with live music that was not too loud that you couldn't have a conversation. We enjoyed a bottle of Peach wine which is like biting into a fresh Georgia peach. Thought it was odd the amount of signs telling you what you can and can't do. No Cash, don't move chairs/tables, don't take games outside, no one under 21 on weekends (This one didn't seem to matter on a Saturday evening, a few kids under 10 were outside) and a few others. Overall relaxing visit and would return in the future. read more

I loved this vineyard!! I am from Virginia wine country and this is the closest I've felt to being at home while in Ohio. Beautiful patio area with amazing views and great wines. My first time here. First off, the view is absolutely gorgeous! It was a beautiful day for a vineyard and the atmosphere was wonderful, with the live music outside. We came here to get some wine slushees before the Lancaster Festival and they were delicious. This is a beautiful winery with absolutely delicious wine. I was blown away with the complexity and depth of their wines. Even their fruit wines were delicious and had great character. Ryan was very informative of the wines and a very gracious host! The tasting room is extremely comfortable. Additionally, there is a patio out back that overlooks the vineyard. We were also pleasantly surprised to learn that Rockside serves food. Ryan recommended the pizza which did not disappoint. A wood fired pizza which was amazing. The charcuterie boards also seemed very popular. We spent a few hours at Rockside enjoying the wine, conversations with other customers and of course...Ryan! Come on a nice day and enjoy the patio area. The wines are surprisingly delightful. Flights are $1 a glass - 10 glass max. A decent cheese plate and almonds are a nice addition for an extra $3. A wonderful place to spend a fall afternoon if you are in the Hocking Hills area for a hike it's a doable drive. What a wonderful experience at RockSide Winery and Vineyards! My girlfriend, another friend and I planned a little excursion here in late June, and we were really blown away by the beauty of the location and the quality of the wines. None of us are true oenophiles, but having visited a few wineries, our experience is generally that the location is a lot better than the wine. While the location is certainly gorgeous, we were all very impressed by our drinks. I was driving, so I ordered a pina colada wine slushie and planned on having that as my only drink. My girlfriend and our friend each ordered a five-glass tasting, which was priced at a shockingly low $5, given how much wine was actually poured. Elsewhere we've paid more for two-sips-worth, but here you essentially receive half a glass of each wine. I absolutely loved my pina colada slushie. Had I not been driving, it's the kind of drink that could have gotten me into trouble pretty quickly -- as soon as I finished, I wanted another. I can't speak to our friend's wine selection, but I did have a few small sips of my girlfriend's choices, and almost all of them got a thumbs-up from us. Not all of the wines are processed at this winery, but the selections are clearly well curated. Needless to say, we bought a bottle of our favorite. No review of RockSide is complete without at least a sentence or two about the location. It truly is beautiful, and I must admit that I didn't expect there to be such a nice location for a vineyard in Central Ohio. You can clearly see hills nearby, and everything is understandably lush and green. We went on a perfect day in terms of temperature -- it was probably the high 80s, but there was a strong breeze that was perfectly relaxing. The seating area is fairly large and is mostly covered, meaning we were shaded from the sun. The staff is very kind, and the owner -- who had been sitting at a table, chatting with friends -- wound up busing our table when we finished drinking. We didn't wind up eating anything, though there was a food truck that was on site shortly after we arrived. All in all, it was a great experience, and I can imagine returning in a couple of months to enjoy it all again! read more

My husband and I stopped in for a date night last Friday and had the most amazing time! After placing our order for a meat and cheese tray and margarita wine slushies (with a shot of tequila), we managed to snag the last table outside by the vineyard. It was a little chilly out, but we enjoyed our meat and cheese tray and slushies while out there. We also took a picture at the photo op spot. The picture turned out great! You can see the vineyard in the background and everything looked absolutely beautiful as the sun was setting. Great idea! We then ventured back inside to warm up. Once inside, we ordered two pizzas (pepperoni and roasted shroom, onion, and Gorgonzola). I also ordered a sample of every wine they had available (7). They were only $1 each. The Old Grandstand - Estate and The Rockside Red were my favorites. I ended up buying a bottle of The Old Grandstand - Estate. It tastes like white grape juice. The Rockside Red tasted like "communion wine"...as my husband put it. Now, onto the pizzas. Holy moly! Although they took a while to cook, they were absolutely delicious! I want to say that they are cooked in a brick oven? I should have asked. My pizza was the shroom, onion, and Gorgonzola one and I kid you not - I felt like I was eating French onion soup! My husband likes French onion soup and he agrees that it tasted exactly like that, but said that one piece of it was enough. I absolutely loved it and ate the whole thing by the end of the evening. Mmm! So good! The service here was extremely nice too! We will definitely be back again soon! Maybe a little more bundled up next time so we can continue to enjoy the beautiful outside view! read more

We were in the area for a wedding so we tried the wineries in the area. Stopped in here and thought it was brand new. We were surprised to learn it's 9 years old because it's very sparse and lacks in ambiance. It was basically self serve. You sat at a table and had to go get you own tastings. Everything was delivered in a monologue. When we tried to interject once, it was clear conversation was not really what they were interested in. There was only one interesting piece in the place, a King's throne chair, but a big sign said no sitting. We tried to talk about that, but again were met with a monologue about it and told covid prevented people from sitting in it. The wines were okay but the highlight was the white pizza!!! Next time, we'd get it to go and head to Hocking Hills Winery where the atmosphere awesome is and people are welcoming!! I'm editing this to respond to the owner's answer. Perhaps my wording "sparse" wasn't the best word. Perhaps, uninspired is better. From the bland appearance when you arrive to the lack of decor inside, it just looks like nobody put thought into welcoming guests. The tables and chairs were uncomfortable, more like cafeteria style than a winery, certainly no place you'd want to hang out for any period of time and the decorations on the wall were very limited. None of which have anything to do with covid. Again, it looks like no thought was put into making this winery into a welcoming atmosphere, either visually or seating wise. read more

This is an update to a review I wrote a while ago. I know they are dealing with new restrictions due to the pandemic, but there is room for improvement. They need to expand their floor area to accommodate more people. They have a fairly large patio with only 3 tables. It looks like they could add a couple more and still maintain social distancing. They need to mow the grass where they placed tables off the patio. We probably won't be back until they make some changes. Hocking Hills Winery has more seating inside and outside. Plus, their wine slushees are cheaper and bigger. read more

This was our second visit to this particular winery and it was as good as the first time! This time around we ordered food along with our wine and it was excellent. It's nice to find a local winery that has dry reds - seems a tough ask locally since most of the wineries have a ton of sweet reds. Their dry reds are spectacular and really hit the mark of some of our favorite brands. The colors are deep red and the flavor profiles are excellent. I would suggest their petite or state house for your first try! We ordered the pesto pizza and cheese tray and for the price, you get a ton of food! The employees are all very nice and they answered my ton of questions about the winery. They walked through how each of their wines are made and they really make you feel at home. They have a winery doc named Riesling and they are super friendly as well. Over all the winery is setup nicely for COVID response too - outside tables are all spaced out and there is plenty of seating. We will definitely be back! read more

I'm so excited to see a winery in Lancaster! I've heard about it, and finally stopped in. I understand it's under new owners also. It's more of a gathering place that has wine though. I stopped in with family on a trip home at Christmas. More lights are needed on the outside, as the parking lot is pretty dark, as is the drive in from the road. It was a rainy night, but it was warm and inviting inside. There was live entertainment and a nice living room area with comfy chairs. Other locals seem to like to bring in card games and make a night of it at the few tables. There is a positive vibe here that you only get in small towns. The guys behind the counter and friendly and helpful. There was a group of us, so we ordered a bottle on a recommendation from my sister who had been here before. We should have tasted it first, because once it was opened, we didn't like it. There was something off. We mentioned it, and the guy gave us a different wine. We tasted it first this time. We felt bad for sending back a bottle we opened, but they didn't mind at all - just wanted us to be happy. Way to go! I also have to say, that I loved the oyster crackers here! LOL It would be nice to see more of a wine tasting environment to enhance the experience. It seems to just have a locals sit-around vibe. Keep up the great work, guys.
