Bigby Coffee is not our favorite but it is certainly convenient. Plenty of parking, great amenities - we didn't have time to take advantage of the free bikes and kayaks but what a great option to have! The pool/hot tub/sauna are dated but it was clean and nice to have available. We would stay again if we come back this way.

It was just what the doctor ordered and aleviated my pain. I visited with my service dog and had no issues so long as he was wearing his vest. The staff was helpful and courteous. They even followed up with a text message to make sure we were enjoying our stay. The restaurant on site was quite pricy. I did not try the coffee shop that brewed their own local coffee. Our room was recently renovated. It was perfect for us since we parked right outside the door. It was tastefully decorated with scenes of Michigan's natural beauty. Outside, there was also a pathway along the lake to go for a stroll and enjoy the outdoors. I would definitely return to this hotel on my next visit to Escanaba!

I was in plays here and I went to plays as well as exhibits. Every time I am in town I like to see the current exhibit as well. I stopped by this time to hang with my mom as she took an art class in the back. They told me the current exhibit was open so I could go check that out as well. It was an exhibit of art professors from NMU. I really loved the video piece (no picture of it) as well as the ceramic plates. There are many talented people in the yoop and for a rural area, it is rich in culture. Support the arts!

My husband asked her to repeat herself because he didn't hear her and she said, just try to keep it down on the toys, we have people trying to read. We were surprised that a wine bar warranted that kind of comment. If it's a coffee shop, library, book store, then OK. But a wine bar? We left and went next door to Thyme. That's the only semi-negative thing I will say about this place, The hotel is nice, the workers were nicer, the rooms were clean and the halls were quiet. The continental breakfast was pretty solid too. Bananas (finally! after 9 days in Michigan hotels, I was beginning to think there was a law against them) mini omelets, bagels, muffins, cinnamon rolls, turkey sausage and a pancake machine. The real star of this hotel is the back patio view. Sitting on their deck enjoying the views of Lake Superior while having a cold beverage is pretty amazing. The rooms with lake views have their own balconies or you can be a cheap ass like me and share the patio with the others.

This woman, Amanda Guenette, has no social skills and we met with her (my mother, MOH and I) one time 8 months before my wedding, to see about decorations we could rent and linens. Her base price was $1,000. Somewhere between there and our meeting I ended up with a $2,200 invoice balance. As soon as I found another company I called her and left her a voicemail message that stated we would no longer need her services (or her outdated decorations)... Well, 8 months later (3 wks before my wedding) she calls and says "I would like to go over everything for your wedding". I told her how I had left her a voicemail and assumed since I speak to a number of vendors, she just got the message and moved on. That was my mistake. Her voice went instantly flat on the line and she said "You're $200 deposit will not be returned to you and I will contact you with what I would like to do about your special ordered decorations that I already ordered" ALREADY ORDERED? We spoke once in 8 months. Anybody who has ever been a bride knows how many times minds get changed. So we soon received not 1 but 2 nasty letters about how she was thinking of taking us to court and all that business. Needless to say we just gave her the $280 she wanted because in my life, that drama isn't worth it. I would NEVER EVER suggest ANYONE hire Ms. Guenette as a "decorator" or whatever she parades herself to be. That is my experience and I'm so glad I could get it out and make my day much better with the help of FINAL TOUCHES DESIGNS (they're awesome.)
