Dr. Witt and his staff have provided exceptional service and treatment with every visit I've made. He was knowledgable beyond general dentistry. His treatment plan and analyses were as detailed if not more than other highly specialized orthodontists and periodontists I had visited. He treated my periodontitis with laser gum surgery (LANAP) - I had two laser appointments and follow-up cleanings: I felt little to no pain post-op. I feel immensely happy with the improved health of my gums. Dr. Witt and his dental assistant, Christian, were highly attentive to my needs during the procedure. If you have a history with bleeding, swollen, or receding gum-line, I highly recommend Dr. Witt's consultation. I drove over an hour away specifically for Dr. Witt's talent. Shirley, the office manager, is passionate about her job. She takes care of business! She will help you find every possible way to get the best quality treatment as quickly as you can. After all, the best day to start being heathy was yesterday! She is the best at what she does. I feel that she provides many options and a positive sense of urgency to take better care of your oral health. I compared multiple dentists and costs - Shirley was honest, looked out for me, and worked with my needs! At no point did I feel price-gouged or uncomfortable with the finances. If you haven't received dental care in years, or have a unique condition, expect a bigger bill obviously! it's no fault of the dentist or office manager, be proactive and inform yourself too. Kirstin (sorry if I misspelled this!) was my hygienist and provided the most comfortable cleaning ever in my life. She was well-spoken, educated me about the science, and had the calmest bedside manner in the professional field. She has 17 years of experience. She matches Dr. Witt's professionalism, friendliness, and kindness just like the rest of Terrace Smiles' Staff! I've personally seen around five dentists, three hygienists, and shadowed over three times that amount. Terrace Smiles is a great choice. They keep up with the times (e.g., clean/tranquil bathroom, text/phone reminders, advanced tech). I'd go here every chance if I lived closer! Unfortunately, I can't recommend this dental office based on my experience. I visited Temple Terrace Smiles once, in July 2025, for a simple cleaning. In September 2026, after receiving repeated scheduling texts, I called to book another cleaning and specifically asked about my new Humana insurance. I was told they accepted Humana, so I believed I could continue going there. Later, only after I specifically asked about coverage, I was told they were actually out of network and that I could potentially be responsible for up to 80% of the cost. I know my plan covers significantly more when using an in-network provider. There is a huge difference between "accepting" an insurance company and actually being in network, and that should have been clearly explained before scheduling. It was not. Because of that, I canceled the appointment by text. Only after I canceled was I suddenly told that I had an unpaid balance from my July 2025 visit. This was the first time I had ever heard about it. I had active dental insurance through my previous employer at the time and provided the office with my insurance information. For more than a year, I received no bill, email, phone call, or notice that there was an insurance problem or outstanding balance. The office had no problem repeatedly contacting me to schedule another appointment, yet somehow never mentioned this balance until I canceled. They then asked whether they should try billing my old insurance. That makes no sense to me because I had already provided that insurance information when the policy was active. If there was a problem submitting the claim or processing my insurance, I should have been notified months ago. This was an office billing issue, not something I caused. The office manager later told me she was not the manager at the time and did not know what happened. I understand she may not have personally been responsible, but that does not shift the responsibility onto the patient. The office is still responsible for properly handling its billing and notifying patients when there is an issue. My concern now is that more than a year has passed and my previous insurance may not even accept the claim because of how long the office waited. I should not suddenly become responsible for a balance I was never told existed because of a billing issue on their end. It also makes me wonder what would have happened if I had simply shown up for this new cleaning without asking questions. Would I have been surprised at the front desk with a year-old balance? And what if this involved expensive dental work instead of a cleaning? That would be a nightmare. I rarely leave one-star reviews and will gladly update this review if they resolve the issue, successfully bill the insurance that was active at the time, or remove the balance from my account. The dentist himself was nice, but unfortunately the communication and billing practices from the office felt misleading and unprofessional. If this much confusion can happen over a simple cleaning, I would be very hesitant to trust them with expensive dental work. Unless this is resolved, I cannot recommend this office. read more

Not over exaggerating when I say this is a goofball of a place. The doctor is very impersonal and short, almost creepy. The conversations barely revolve around your health, just the money you need to spend that he uncomfortably pushes. Very sales-like type of conversations. The doctor is over dramatic to scare you into spending $. Get another opinion elsewhere first before spending the money to get done whatever he suggests. Trust me. I wish I would've done my research and looked at reviews like I regularly do when I find doctors but I just moved and was in a rush to knock some things off my to do list and coming here made what's normally a very simple experience, such a condescending one. The dentistry was fine but the sales pitch was insane! I made this clear repeatedly but the dentist was rude and condescending and relentless with his financial push. I tried to shut him down but he was not having it.This man even brought up my previous cancer diagnosis to try to make him money. I was near tears and then he told me the visit was not covered by my insurance...anything to get my money!!!! I recently had the pleasure to sit in Dr. Witt's dentist chair. I must admit, I am not a fan of dentist visits but after the fine service and attention by the receptionist, Noelia and Mama Shirley, it made my visit a lot better than expected with Dr. Witt. Thank you for making my first visit with you as peaceful and serene as possible. Update: I returned for a temporary crown and I was surprised by the fact that with little local anesthesia Dr. Witt performed with the temporary crown with little pain of a pinch. I have been going to dentist for over 50 years and I have to say that this dentist has to be the rudeness arrogant dentist that I have ever encountered! Especially when it comes to money! According to my dental insurance company no patient should ever pay upfront for any future dental work. This place wants to charge you for the entire amount of work that you need upfront! Their prices are extremely high on the scale when it comes to any treatment! I don't recommend this place to anyone who is trying to save money! Please look elsewhere if you want top notch professional service! This place was a horrible experience! I went there for a second opinion and to add insult to injury after I explained my problem to DrWitt he said "so what do you want me to do about it!" I said nothing! I got up and walked out... I paid $30 something for my visit which was for nothing! Then a month later Dr Witt billed my insurance company for $160 even though he didn't even look into my mouth! This is my second visit to this office and I don't think I'll be back. In short, things seem VERY mismanaged and COVID guidelines were not followed. I had an appointment scheduled for last week, and when I got to the office they told me there was no appointment in the system and that the dentist wasn't even in the office that day. I even confirmed the appointment over the phone with the office manager prior to the day of the appointment. I was frustrated, but the hygienist and dental assistant were both very kind and helpful so I decided to try again & scheduled for a week later (today). I went ahead and filled out the paperwork so that I wouldn't have to do it before today's appointment. So now for today's appointment! I show up and have 3 different people ask me to fill out paperwork (the paperwork I had already filled out). I don't understand why 3 different people are asking me about the same exact thing... shouldn't there be one person at the front keeping track of this? So finally the 3rd person tells me they somehow lost one of the sheets and asks me to fill it out again. Then she finds it in a stack of various papers. Everything seems very mismanaged. Finally I go back and the hygienist is great- she was thorough with my cleaning and kind. The dentist was nice, but we only spoke for a minute. At the end of the appointment I was aware I needed to have work done, but I felt like the office manager was really trying to push it on me to sign payment plans and stuff right then, which I did not appreciate. Multiple employees were not wearing masks (the hygienist had hers down at one point and was about a foot or two away from my face) and when I am unable to wear one (because I'm getting work done) they should definitely be wearing theirs. I had a total 10 veneers, 8 cavities and laser gum surgery in 1 day a couple years ago. At that time, my mouth was a disaster, my gums bled every day and I had bad breath all the time no matter how frequently I brushed. All of that is in the past. Now I am proud of my smile ("movie-star white" veneers) and my gums are healthy. Dr Witt not only fixed my issues, he also connected with me, shared stories and made subsequent office visits something to look forward to instead of dreading. NEVER GO HERE!!!! Dr. Witt only cares about making money! He is very pushy and aggressive with trying to get you to sign treatment plans and to get extensive work done that doesn't need to be done! My friend and I went in together and both received over $5,000 quotes for dental procedures and then tried to make us feel horrible for not signing immediately! I purchased a groupon to try out a new dentist. The place was clean and front desk staff was friendly. Then it all went downhill. The hygienist was thorough with my xrays and cleaning, but I was then being told how my teeth are in major trouble. I have no pain, except for hot/cold sensitivity in a tooth that needs work. I was quoted $9500 for dental work, stating my teeth were loose and on their way to falling out. The dentist actually had his hand in my mouth, attempting to wiggle my teeth and tell me in what bad shape they are. Then he stares at me and says what are you going to do about it. The office manager was just as bad, and I ended up walking out mid sentence. I have never felt so upset and alienated at a doctor's office before. I would not recommend this place at all.. The practice mailed me a coupon for a 100% free new patient appointment and cleaning, so I decided to skip my regular dentist and try Terrace Smiles for my annual cleaning. However, it was a bad experience. Firstly, when signing in, a blonde female hygienist told me that even though I was a cash-payer who does not use any sort of dental insurance, I could not be seen without a driver's license. Eventually though, the staff at the front desk said that they would see me using my USF student ID. Secondly, Terrace Smiles requires new patients to get 18 x-rays taken. I've never been asked by any other dentist to have more than 5 x-rays taken (even at a new patient appointment), and so after the 5th x-ray at Terrace Smiles I asked to please not have anymore x-rays done. However, I was told that if I didn't have more x-rays then they would not clean my teeth. It has been 5 years since they ran me off by overselling unneeded dental work and treatments. They have a high pressure sales team that attacks you before during and after with relentless calls. You get surveyed to death and they never stop with direct mail. 5 years later I still get mail requests for recommendations and they email me a review request that they want to control. I had a really scary experience at this dentist office. I was told I had thousands of dollars of cavities that needed immediate treatment. I felt really pressured to sign up for the payment plan and immediately regretted it when I did. I felt like something was wrong, my teeth didn't hurt or appear to be in serious need of the recommended procedures. I got a second opinion and glad I did. I saved myself a good 5k. The dentist himself wasn't terrible but he did evaluate me personally and was the one who evaluates my teeth and claimed I needed so much treatment. Under the impression my bill would be reasonable but it was close to $2000.00.
