The staff greeted me warmly, and Megan took great care of me both at the start and after my visit. The X-rays were quick and painless. Aspen Dental traumatized me with this. Nicole, the hygienist, was absolutely amazing. She gave my mouth a deep, thorough cleaning and really took her time to make sure everything was done right. Afterward, she spent a few minutes educating me on recommended floss, proper flossing and brushing techniques, and the impact behind tartar and plaque. My visit was truly a 10/10 experience. It is with deep regret that I write this review because Derick is an excellent dentist. However, about two years ago he constructed a beautiful building to expand his business. I was very happy for him. Then about a year later he bought the entire business of a retiring dentist which forced him to take on more associates. I cracked two teeth eating a hard fried dish. One was an implant that shattered and the other a regular tooth. I made an appointment two weeks in advance because I was on vacation. I was seen by one of his new associates who misdiagnosed the source of my pain from another cracked tooth and sent me home in pain. Derick saw me the next day after I drove an hour to his new office. After waiting an hour he saw me and asked what happened with his associate. When I told him what happened he became defensive and actually accused me of being at fault because I cracked another implant. He forgot who was paying who and I changed my dentist. Instead of simply saying, Mack please bear with us as we expand, his response was, "I'm doing the best I can" as if his desire for a larger business was my problem. I'm not saying don't use this business but I am saying you might want to give him a year or two to grow. If you choose to respond to this criticism Dr Espino, please include in your response what I said as incorrect. This is an update to the above review based on the response. It is not intended to be a tit-for-tat but i simply feel compelled to revise the review based on Espino's response. Please read his response carefully. He writes and thinks that he is doing the world a favor by assisting us! WE PAY YOU FOR YOUR SERVICES! You seem to have forgotten that very important concept. I made an appointment TWO weeks in advance for my cracked tooth and tooth pain. I told your associate twice and once to the tech that admitted me that I had pain in the gum line. She may have been focused on the cracked implant but she should have explored for the pain. You caught it within three seconds of looking at me. As for our expectations that you be at our beck and call, I think that comment speaks for itself and validates my review. You are an excellent dentist however, you are also spoiled, entitled and immature. You provide a medical service for people which you are paid to do. I highly recommend Dr. Derek Espino. The care and the quality of service me and my daughter received during a difficult time it was just amazing. For my daughter's 11th birthday she wanted to go roller skating and felt on the night of her birthday while roller skating. This was her adult tooth and it just ruined the whole birthday party. I found Riverview Dental Arts and called, they were able to see us the next day. The work that Dr. Espinosa did was just incredible, when I tell you he matched and created a perfect crown for my daughter. I am so grateful for this doctor and I truly recommend him! I went for a consultation last year to Riverview Dental Arts. I explained what I was looking for. My main concern was that I wanted my teeth longer . The Dr said he could make them longer and add variation. What took me to Riverview was that in one of the videos the Dr Espino mentioned that in one of the cases a woman took a picture of how her teeth looked before and he was able to help achieve that look again . In other words he was going to give her not based on how she had them now , but on the pictures. That's where I felt hopeful !! I went to my first consult and took pictures but the Dr payed them no mind. Then when I went again and showed pictures he still payed them no attention. In my last experience with another dentist a Dr shaved down my teeth making them almost impossible to work with . She shaved them down to the point that now my smile was lost . I had always had a very nice smile until then . Now every time I smile it looks more like I'm grinning because my teeth hardly don't show . That's the ONLY reason I want to Riverview Dental . I payed 4,000 and I believe that the Dr put two crowns and 4 veneers . My teeth look still too short and now not only do I have to get used to shorter teeth , I also have to get used to the variation which was something I never had and I hate the look . I believe the Dr payed no attention to my desire but did a good job pretending he did . If all the Dr did was put in 4 veneers and two crowns and I paid for 8 then something isn't adding up. When the Dr removed my old veneers he said as he was working on my mouth that he thought that it should all be crowns and no veneers . I simply shrugged my shoulders as if saying " I don't know " . Dr Espino is the professional and he should know what best . So right after he mentioned he believed he should do all crowns , within the same time he said he'll do 4 veneer and two crowns . Then once it's all done he tells me that he really believes he should have done all crowns because the spaces between my teeth were too big and he had to add bonding before putting the veneers . I asked the Dr if he thought thats what needed to be done why didn't he just do that . He flipped it on me and said I had insisted on veneers and was adamant about it . I told the Dr that wasn't true , I had never been asked, he had never explained any of this to me before . The Dr kept on cutting me off and talking over me . I hate that there short and I wanted them longer . I hate that he did all the variation that I've not had in the past . I hate that I left feeling so unsure because the Dr himself said that he wasn't sure about doing the veneers . I hate that I paid 4,000, for four veneers and two crowns , I also hate he didn't look at my old picture and try to design something closer to what I had . I am so glad I found this firm. After a really bad experience with a potentially shady establishment earlier in the morning that sent me running for the hills, I quickly google searched for a reputable Dental practice in my area. The reviews here were pretty good and they received high ratings so I took a chance. I had a tooth that broke and needed to get it fixed ASAP. I called and got lucky they had a last minute cancellation so was squeezed in for an emergency appointment. I had the EXACT same work done that the other firm said they were going to perform and even though both practices use the same fee schedule with my insurance provider, somehow the variance in final cost was $400 in comparison to the first shady practice I visited. I immediately felt safe, respected, and peaceful walking into Riverview Dental Arts. Happy to be a new patient here and they will keep my business so as long as I live here. I can start off by saying I am so glad I went with my gut, and continued to look. Thankfully I was lead into the right arms Dr. Derek Espino , after almost choosing the wrong! I almost got porcelain veneers in Miami (10 top and 10 bottom) almost got botched ! I then started looking locally because I was out 1000 deposit I put in. This was the third consultation I had and was about to give up. Dr expressed to me that a crown lengthening would be ideal and I would see a big difference ! He saved me from putting stuff on my real teeth all by doing a crown lengthening showed me pictures of the work he did and I was all in. More than thankful to say the least !!! The whole staff was so sweet and welcoming and made you feel so comfortable. I would highly recommend!!! I have been going to Dr Espino since he took over the practice. I have to admit, I was a little hesitant at first as I really liked the previous dentist, but thankfully due to his expertise, pleasant and outgoing manner I was won over. I was familiar with his staff with whom I have a great relationship. I have ongoing dental issues that require me to be seen frequently for cleanings, so with his hygienists I don't dread my appointments. I truly love all the staff I've dealt with including the front office Mgr, Heather who always has a smile and kind words to whom all she encounters. I was referred to Dr. Espino's office by my boyfriend. We've always been spoiled with really great dentists and staff back home, but haven't been able to find an office we really loved since we moved to FL. Well, he loved Dr. Espino's office, so I tried them out for my (overdue) annual cleaning. Office was easy to find with lots of parking. Clean and orderly inside. Shawn took my x-rays and Dr. Espino checked me out. Both were friendly and Dr. Espino took the time to explain everything. He also took photos of my teeth so I could see them up close. They book the exam and cleaning separately; I guess to make sure you don't have any immediate problems. But they had a cancellation in their hygiene schedule, so they squeezed me in for my cleaning. Allison was my hygienist, and was really considerate and sweet. A bad past experience (with another office) had left me a little anxious/sensitive about pain, but I felt Zero discomfort with the x-rays and cleaning. My boyfriend said he couldn't feel any discomfort at all when Dr. Espino numbed him, so that makes me less anxious about it when I go back for fillings. It felt like they were sincerely trying to establish a relationship with us, instead of treating us like numbers and running in and out of the room. Overall, I'm really happy we finally found an office that fits us. We have been going to this office for years, long before Dr. Espino took over. We were there with Dr. Harkey, who was an amazing dentist and could handle my two children and me and my husband. My kids grew up going to him. About six months or so ago, he sold the dentist to Dr. Espino, I had my doubts but gave him a chance. Of course, my family was used to a certain level of care and today we didn't receive that care. Dental Anxiety runs in the family (mainly on my husband's side) and my daughter (13) has picked it up. We went in today for a small filling. He sat down beside her and took one look at her and said "No. I will not work on her at all, ever." I was horrified. He didn't even try to calm her down, said she needed to be heavily sedated. Last time this happened, Dr. Harkey talked to her to calm her down and let me hold her hand. All was well and the filling was done. All was happy. No heavy sedation at all! She has only seen Dr. Espino 2 other times for her annual cleanings and really doesn't know him at all. She has no trust in him and he didn't even try to build that trust. I was so upset as we have gone there for a long time, and he wouldn't even talk to me. He just walked away to his office. He was very unprofessional. I do not recommend him at all! I love his staff.....Heather, Allison and Deidra, I am be sad to say good-bye to them, but this doctor needs to work on his professionalism and bedside manners. read more
