We ended up eating lunch here because the place we were planning to go to was closed and there weren't too many other options on Easter Monday. I normally steer clear of places that have photos of food on their menu, so wasn't too sure after I sat down and got a menu with pictures. But it's nice to be surprised once in a while and this place had (to my immense astonishment) pretty decent Tapas!! It also seemed like a local joint as we were the only English speakers.
Our service was lovely and quick, despite the waitress speaking very limited English. Lots of people seemed to be getting the baby octopus tapas plate but we skipped this. I really liked the cod croquettes and the chicken wings were an unexpected delight. The calamari was decent. The chicken shish kabob stick could have used a longer marination. The ham plate I would skip. The tomato bread was good but I did ask for additional olive oil. Coffee was also good, but remember to get with milk otherwise you end up getting a small cup of strong black coffee!! Luckily one of my dining companions took this off my hands and I ordered a coffee with leche, which was delicious!
And a word about the decor- it's like a gin joint / diner from the 50s but with modernistic Barcelona flair. We sat outside so didn't have Marilyn Moroe or James Dean staring at us, but the interior did make me smile (in an affectionate aunts house way).
Overall much better than was expecting and definitely better than some of the other places have eaten at in Barcelona. read more
