please do not buy from this store, they was recently shut down by the health department for having mold on the food surfaces and in the food showcasEd, they also have roaches and rats that crawl all over the food ingredients that is used to make your pastries and donut. The baked goods are great. The reason for the low rating is because they still have that antiquated rule requiring a minimum $10 purchase to use a credit card. The young employee even went as far as to say it's illegal to use a credit card for purchases below $10. I've never understood people's love affair with Terrigno's. There are those who think that Terrigno's is the best thing since sliced bread, and there are others who are indifferent. I fall into the second category. Maybe I spent too much time in Europe eating fine pastries, but I have NEVER had anything from Terrigno's that made my mouth water. Everything is just.... ok. Not bad, not good. Some people think their icing is the best thing ever... I think it's gross. Their cake decorating is pretty lackluster... not much better than I could do myself. Their pies are always good, but again, not much better or worse than I can do myself. Their selection is extremely run-of-the mill... your usual apple, lemon meringue, pumpkin, italian bread, pastries, etc. I'd be impressed if they had fancy multi-grained bread, strawberry rhubarb pie and fresh fruit tartlets, but they just don't make that kind of stuff. Last time I went there, which was about 5 years ago (2009), I got an eclair. Half way thru eating it, I noticed something solid in my mouth in the midst of the vanilla pudding. I was hoping it was a clump of some kind of batter or an overcooked hard piece of dough. I pulled it out of my mouth, rinsed it off and I don't know what it was. It was either some type of wax that was hardening or some type of plastic that was softening. I showed it to the other 2 people in the room, whom also both thought it was plastic, judging it by sight and feel. So the consensus was "some type of plastic." Now I can't say exactly what it was, but how many microscopic fragments of this had I already ingested in the 1st half of the eclair? Maybe it was some kind of plastic stripping that u peel off to open the bucket of pudding? Maybe some kind of wax seal ring inside the bucket? Needless to say, I haven't been back. Not worth going there if eating an eclair is like playing russian roulette. If I had any sense, I should've sent those fragments away to a lab for composition analysis. I may have eaten something highly toxic. Seemed like the selection wasn't too great anyway. Oh, we make that, but don't have that right now. Yes, we make that, but it's a special order. It's hard to pick out a dozen doughnuts there, cuz you're forced to get doubles. I think it was a much better place 20+ years ago. read more

Terrigno's is a great Italian bakery. Some bakeries do bread well. Some do pastry well. Often bakeries that specialize in one fail at the other. It's a disappointment when a pasty is leaden and breadlike because it was prepared by a bread baker. Terrigno's is that rare bakery that does everything well. Their bread is legendary. The Italian round loaves are perfect, crusty perfection. Great accompaniment for a soup, stew or pasta dish or perfect alone. Their pies, cakes and pastries are delicious as well. The donuts will make you wonder why anyone would "do Dunkin". We like the banana cream pie, with slices of real bananas in a custardy filling topped a mile high with whipped cream. The cocoanut custard pie is also a standout. I live across the county from the place and it's worth the drive to get stuff this good. They're open 7-days. read more

I have been going here since I was a child. I remember driving in the back seat in the summertime as the sun was going down to get some sweets. All I remembered as a child was the 25 minute drive just to get my marbled cookie and brownie. When I started driving I immediately tried to remember in my head where that little bakery was that we would drive to every so often, and found it! I began taking my friends and they were hooked. Terrigno's is a typical bakery with typical treats and sweets. It isn't anything stellar, but it is also not the worst of the worst. I have never had a bad dessert from here, nothing stale, or lacking flavor. Everything is consistent and delicious! I am very picky about my desserts and cake and was really impressed by the cake we just had at a birthday party for 2 little ones. I was really happy about how great it looked and even happier at how delicious it was. Everyone commented on both how great it looked and tasted. For me, it tasted fresh and hit the spot! Ordered an Italian rum cake from here for a coworkers birthday. We were here on business, API just picked this bakery at random. They decorated it simply, but beautifully. The cake was a well orchestrated symphony in my mouth. No, seriously, I think I heard a hallelujah chorus somewhere in the background while eating it. The cake had the perfect balance of pudding, cherry pie filling and rum. The whipped frosting was light and not cloyingly sweet. I remember when this place used to be 24 hours and going all hours of the day with my grandparents to get their 6 inch cookies and strawberry shortcake. All of their pastries are great, but the only thing I've not liked was their croissants, very dry and not much flavor. I recently moved and every time I fly back home I bring one of their Isabella cheesecakes with me on the plane! The prices are average and you can order ahead of time, which is necessary during the holiday season. For the most part the counter girls are nice, one time I had a problem with an older woman because I ordered a cheesecake before my flight and it wasn't there and instead of just grabbing me another one that didn't have my name on it, she decided talking down to me was the best solution. Also, my sister and I went around 8pm a couple weeks ago to get some pastries and the case was filled with sour flies so we passed on those. Even after moving out of Bridgeton area in 1983, one of my "visits" when I am in the area is Terrigno's Bakery. Been around forever, its one of the last remaining Bridgeton institutions. Their donuts are #1 - they are tasty (don't all taste the same like other bakeries), sweet, and fresh. My husband works all the way in Philly and everyone takes turns bringing snacks in. He took in Terrigno's Doughnuts and everyone raved over them. One co-worker joked he won the doughnut war. I grew up having Terrigno's so of course other Doughnut chains don't stand a chance when it comes to them. I prefer the mom and pop bakeries over chain stores and apparently my husbands co-workers do too. The bakery employees are polite and their goodies are really tasty. TERRIBLE SERVICE AND ATTITUDE FOR A HORRIBLY INCORRECT WEDDING CAKE ORDER!!!! When I first contacted the bakery I told them I was calling around looking for a bakery that could make an almond flavored wedding cake. The manager Jeannie told me that she would check with the owner and called back to confirm that they could make an almond pound cake but that it would cost more. I told them no problem with the extra cost because that is what we wanted. From the minute I called Jeannie was giving me a hard time about the order timing (I called around 5/18 for a 6/4 wedding) and about coming into the bakery in person. I explained multiple times that I live an hour away and would not be able to meet in person but that my mother loves their bakery and patrons it often and I was trying to support local businesses as much as possible for the wedding. I probably should have just moved on after the first call or two with Jeannie but I continued the order. It turned out to be a HUGE mistake. I placed the order for an almond cake with almond cream cheese icing by email and paid over the phone by credit card in full. We ordered a small 2 tiered cutting cake with a 6 inch and 8 inch round and an additional full sheet for the caterer to slice. They told me they didn't have the staff to deliver so I would need to send someone to pick up the cake at noon the day of the wedding. I said no problem and I sent someone to pick up the order. Turns out they never gave us the sheet cake AT ALL and the small tiered cake was vanilla cake with vanilla butter cream icing!!! NO PART OF THE ORDER WAS CORRECT!!!! We ended up having to cut the cake cutting portion of the wedding completely because there wasn't enough cake to feed our 170 guests without the sheet cake. When I called the bakery they basically blamed it all on me saying I should have told the person picking up exactly what they should have gotten. I told them it was their job to give her the WHOLE order since it was PAID for!! Then they made up this bullshit story about how almond cakes can only be ordered in person so I couldn't have purchased an almond cake. I told them that makes absolutely NO SENSE and that I have the email that contains the cake order, so it's all in writing. Then they blamed Jeannie's attitude on her divorce. Not to be mean but that's not my problem and her personal life should not be transferred to the bakery customers. Long story short they were not willing to credit me back the money for the whole order and they were not sorry for ruining that portion of my wedding day. "Great School Bakery" Not the place to go for cake design's. I thought my request was pretty simple my 9 year old daughter wanted a Minecraft cake for her birthday. I knew going in to Terrigno's that might be beyond there cake decorating skills. They did offer a Minecraft decal for the cake which was almost $25. I thought it was high so requested a half sheet cake with green icing on top with green piping made to look like grass and chocolate icing on the sides. The idea was it would look like a block from the game. I picked it up today.The top was spray-painted with some kind of ferocious green food coloring and look blotchy and cheap. The sides were pipe Dookie Brown.There were brown balloons with green ribbons. Worst of all some kind of piping on actual cake. A few brown blocks that were pipe d stacked on top of each other it literally looks like somebody took a dump on the cake. I asked for it to be fixed. Though the manager gave me a hard time upon my request stating that" they were not cake boss" ! They are old school! Yeah it's okay to be old school but an ugly cake is still an ugly cake. Luckily one of the older Bakers and decorators felt bad for my daughter and took a look at the cake. He literally laughed because it was so bad. He stripped it and fixed it the best he could I must say it didn't come out the way she wanted but it looks way better than it did and she's a lot happier with it so thanks Chuck for being a decent human being. read more

I normally don't write bad reviews but I must say that the mistakes done on my brothers 50th birthday cake was just terrible. I ordered my bothers 50th birthday cake approximately 1 week prior to the event. The young lady in the store was helpful but very pre-occupied. It started with getting my name wrong. writing the wrong decorating request. We corrected everything and she seemed as though every thing with the order would be fine. I paid for it and the day I was to pick up the cake, I received a phone call just before the party informing me that the cake that I ordered couldn't be done as requested. They then told me that my order should have never been taken. I was told that the size and details aren't able to be done but they could make a smaller cake and to do the decorating as requested. Well we went to pick up the cake, the carrot cake was so small, the colors and decorating were horrible, not what we asked for but I was responsible for this very special birthday cake. And at that point was out of options. I will say they offered me back 1/2 my money. We went to the party on Christmas cut into the cake well it must have been at least a week old it was dried out had no favor and the stress they added to this once in a life event was horrible. Normally the items I buy at Terrigno's are out of this world but you should know how disappointing this was for my brother's big day. Turns out that cake was taken from the count and wasn't a fresh cake. I can't bring back that day for my brother and I want them to know that you really embarrassed me but instead of my family and friends remembering my brothers big day as great , they talk about how bad that cake was. read more
