Stopped in Vineland on our way back from the beach. We were happy to see a homemade ice cream and custard place along our route. We got coffee and dutch chocolate ice cream. Size small was a generous two huge scoops for only $2.75! Can't beat that! Flavors were tasty. The chocolate was a deeper flavor than the coffee, but both were good. Line moved quickly, and service was fine. A nice choice for a quick stop. read more

I wax nostalgic for the days when Verona was a custard stand and a restaurant. It was one of the best family run restaurants in the area. They had nice homemade treats like apple dumplings and nummy soups. But for some reason, they closed the restaurant. Eek! Alas, the Verona leased what used to be the restaurant to a (really good) hair salon of all things... ice-cream and permanent solution just don't mix! Since Verona sits on the phenominally busy and dangerous Delsea Drive, I don't feel to keen about sitting in their unfenced seating area with the kids to enjoy frozen custard on a hot day. They've got a good selection, but I'd never be able to relax and enjoy my ice-cream because I'd be worrying whether my 3 year old was going to make a dash for the road or not. It was a good location for a restaurant, but not for a custard stand. Bad move Verona! I miss you, but I won't be back. read more

This is my favorite ice cream place in the Vineland/Millville area. The staff usually consists of students/young adults who know what they're doing. I usually get chocolate and vanilla twist custard with rainbow sprinkles [can't really mess that up unless there's none left] or a gelati with twist custard and mango water ice - the consistency of both are always perfect. Mom and pop ice cream spots are hit or miss but this one is 100% a hit. read more

Delicious, creamy, cheap. I got the strawberry shortcake ice cream. It had the cake batter ice cream with frozen strawberries in it. Tasted more like cake batter, but it was so creamy and delicious. Strawberry didn't add much to it. I wonder if their plain cake batter is the same as this without the strawberries. I'd probably fudge to this too next time! But YUM! read more

I love Verona, there's nothing like a rocky road ice cream in a waffle cone or a banana split in the oppressive, sweltering, sticky heat of a Jersey summer. My mother has gone to Verona since she was a child, and we ALWAYS visit Verona on our summer trips. The staff is always friendly, and the owner is a great person. The last time we were there, we purchased Verona shirts to take home a bit of the Custard magic back to the west coast. I hope they stay open forever, Verona's a gem! read more

Went there this weekend and ordered a peanut butter cup sunday, when I told the girl the peanut butter cups tasted old she said there was nothing she could do. The owner then came out and basically told me I was wrong. When I asked him how he felt about me being unsatisfied with my experience, he told me he has plenty of customers and wasn't concerned about my opinion. First impressions are important. Messing up a first impression AND a chance to rectify a situation is a horrible experience. I ordered chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream from this local shop and was disappointed from the outset. There were no more than three measly chunks of chocolate chips in this "chocolate chip" ice cream. Not only that, but the ice cream had a slight taste of banana. After waiting for 10 minutes to have an employee rectify this situation, the owner haughtily explained the "ineffability" if his process and impossibility of the flavor being off. I came to this shop with minimal expectations and left highly disappointed. I hate to even give 1 star. read more

My son worked all weekend in the heat and humidity at a busy local sandwich shop - he was so excited to be able to take me out for a treat. When I ordered a hot fudge sundae with chocolate ice cream and dry walnuts - the server appeared to write down what I said. When we got our orders mine was incorrect, when I went back and told the girl she got really snotty with me telling me " well I didn't write that down so I don't know what to tell you " I started to walk to my car and my son was super upset, so I went back and spoke to the owner who was equally as rude and told me that I ordered incorrectly but they would remake it I would just have to wait until the other people on the line were taken care of! Umm no! From now on I will drive the extra 10-15 minutes to Flippers Custard in Millville. read more

After asking for a traditional banana split with extra hot fudge minus the wet walnuts, I received some under trained employee's rendition of this request. This equated to a scoop of chocolate sandwiched between 2 scoops of vanilla, a smattering of pineapple and crushed maraschino cherries wedged between the banana slivers. Now I am no ice cream connoisseur but there was an overblown pictorial depiction of a standard banana split with ample toppings in plain sight. I don't know if the preparer has some aversion to anything strawberry that she projects into her consumers, or if she's been trained to conserve toppings, but it was the saddest split to behold and even moreso consume. read more

Ok, I must say that I am mixed about this one. When I was pregnant a few years back I looooved going here for ice cream. I would order my mint chocolate chip (I'm a creature of habit) but I would always dig into hubby's butter pecan or buttered almond. Well, last month we were on an ice cream kick so we were visiting all our favorite ice cream haunts, Verona's being one of them. I decided to venture off the beaten path & order myself a buttered almond. What I got was vanilla ice cream with some random nuts in them! What happened????? My son ordered a strawberry shortcake ice cream which was yellow and just tasted sweet, nothing shortcakey about it. If you name ice cream after another dessert item-please make sure it tastes like that dessert. And don't call anything buttered unless it truely has a buttery, sweet creamy flavor otherwise just call it vanilla almond. Since they offer so many other flavors & I can't say I've tried them all, I'm still going to give them a decent rating to be fair. read more

After driving from Millville for ice cream (9/24) ywe were greeted by a very rude person at the window taking our order. I understand that you will close in a week but everything we asked for we were told we don't have that anymore instead of explaining to us that you would be closing on Oct 1st and would not be making limited brands of ice cream. I do come there often for the strawberry shortcake and orange pineapple and have Never been treated the way I was treated today. read more
