Although we didn't find any diamonds, we were still very hungry and thirsty. We walked in and were greeted and quickly brought to a table. We were also handed menus which showed simple American type food. They had soda, tea, coffee, sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, etc. the sides were potato salad, macaroni, tater tots, fries, slaw, etc. Everything was fairly cheap and sounded appetizing. We both got ice waters, and the 1/4 lb burgers with cheese and everything on them. We also ordered the sweet potato tater tots. Yes, you heard that right! We were curious because we had never heard of them. After about 8-10 minutes we got our food. The burger was great. Everything was juicy and fresh. Not a life changing burger but I had reasonable expectations for flavors. The sweet potato tater tots were different but quite good! They weren't crunchy like regular tots. They had a great sweet potato flavor and almost like a corn flake mixture. I wish they were crunchier but I'd still order the same thing again. I highly recommend it! Not amazing or spectacular food but great service and very cozy place to relax and rehydrate after mining. It's also very affordable. Hope you had better luck mining than we did!

And our waitress was prompt very friendly and very helpful.

While visiting family in Arkansas from Florida, our group of ladies stopped in looking for a cozy…read moreplace to sit, sip coffee, and catch up for a bit. This definitely checked the box for atmosphere. The space is cute and welcoming with a mix of tables for working, couches for relaxing, and little boutique-style shopping areas along the walls with clothing, gifts, jewelry, books, and more. It was quiet during our visit aside from one family with small children, which made it a nice spot to sit and chat. I ordered an iced caramel latte, my daughter got a soda (served in the can with a cup of ice), and pricing felt comparable to Starbucks or Dunkin -- which I don't mind at all when supporting a local business. Unfortunately, the biggest downside was noticing flies inside the covered container with the beignets/donut holes. I understand bugs happen, especially in smaller towns and warmer weather, but it immediately turned us off from ordering any snacks or food items. The latte itself was just OK, nothing especially memorable. That said, I would still come back if I needed a comfortable place to sit and work, read, or visit with friends. The atmosphere was honestly the highlight for me.

Cafe 1217 - A Fresh Break from the Road Trip Diet…read more What a relief to stumble into Cafe 1217 after days of heading southwest on a steady rotation of BBQ, grits, and beans. Delicious, yes... but the body eventually starts asking for a vegetable and a reset. The space itself matches that feeling. Simply decorated, with bright murals, clean lines, and a cheerful, easygoing vibe that feels light the moment you walk in. My husband gave me full ordering authority, which is always a bold move. I went straight into tapas mode because everything on the menu looked too good to choose just one. We ended up with a spread: chicken pot pie (which quickly abandoned any "small plate" intentions), field greens and baby spinach, a shrimp and crawfish cake, and one of each of Rosy's authentic hand-rolled tamales. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying without that heavy, road-trip food fatigue. The mint lemonade was refreshing and delicious, a little on the sweet side, but it worked. Service, while perfectly fine, could benefit from a warmer welcome and a bit more guidance, especially for first-timers trying to navigate such an inviting menu. A little extra friendliness up front would go a long way here. Our only real regret? Not saving room for dessert. They looked very tempting, and we'll be thinking about that missed opportunity. If you're on the road and craving something lighter without sacrificing flavor, this spot is a welcome pause.
