We love Territorial but had never been in person so decided to make a trip to Cottage Grove. First off, their products are great, though they're on the pricier side and shipping costs are high. The physical store is relatively small, but I found the selection quite extensive - tons of seeds, and lots of varieties of all plants (for instance, they had 10+ varieties of blueberry bushes and lots of varieties of peppers, to name a couple). Staff were friendly. I wouldn't come back just to go to the store, but it was nice to see it and I appreciate that they develop a lot of their plants for the Pacific Northwest. read more

I ordered a 2 oz package of bean seeds on May 2. seed cost was $6.45, shipping was $8.95. their website claims to ship most orders in 48 hours. I received an order confirmation on May 4. By May 9 (7 days) I had received no shipping confirmation. I emailed them that day asking for an update. no response. Today, May 14 I called customer service. she said this was their busy season. She promised it would be "shipped" today but they could not promise that USPS would actually pick it up today. This was at 9:05 am pacific time. I shop their store very time I go by on I-5 and they have the greatest selection of tomato and pepper starts I have ever seen at one location. Oh yes, and I order lots on-line and I find their shipping charges to be very inexpensive as compared to those companies who charge based on order amount. I wrote this because I had put an order in based on what they confirmed that they will be able to reduce the shipping cost on a seed only order. I used their website on chat support and ask them about the excessive shipping cost and Sandy was able to offer a $4.00 off a $8.95 shipping on a seed only order. She told me that if I called in using their 1800 customer service number and tell them Sandy said to offer a $4.00 off shipping they will honor that. However, I called in and they refused to honor what they offered because I have a coupon code applied for the order. They say that the discount I got off the product from a coupon code online is equivalent to the offer I received from Sandy. It seems like they gaslighted me and what a great dishonor. If you don't want to honor the offer simply say it. To the owner, if you are unable to honor what you offer to the customer please do not do that. This end up wasting everybody's time. Your order support staff can also use a more friendly attitude as well. read more

The had a very descriptive advertisement for poppy seed rattlepods. I needed the pod so I could get them to grow in my location. The plain seeds never grow, probably because they get them from a baker's supply. Anyway, they sent my food grade seeds. No pods. They said they'd take a return, but I have to pay shipping. late 2022 I placed over a $100 order for seeds, hopefull expectations. got seeds just fine and planted as recommended. germination was horrible or totally nonexistent. Corn, beets, some lettuce, carrots (2 actually grew), and more. same results from neighbors as we had ordered together. once I realized the non-germination I replanted with older seeds from other vendors I still had, but I lost weeks off of my Pac NW growing season. This is the first year we planted Territorial seeds. What a disaster. Out of two packets of carrot seeds we had a total of five carrots sprout. The beet seeds gave us similar results. The bean and the peas dwarfed and ended up being approximately 8" tall. The only seeds that produced like one would expect were the summer squash. Both my wife and myself are in our late sixties and have been gardening all of our lives. We have separate gardens and every year we have good crops. Thanks to Territorial seed this year will be a bust. Forget about these high priced seeds and stick with seeds sold at Lowes and Home Depot. read more

When we came down here, we were really expecting a much bigger place then it is lol, the catalog they produce is awesome and has a very good variety of stuff! So, since we were in Oregon, we went to Cottage Grove and visited this Nursery, like i said I was expecting a really huge place but this is actually just you're normal size nursery! The staff here is very helpful, and they do have a good selection of stuff to grow that you dont see at the major chain stores. We ended up getting some Strawberry plants and tomato plants, and some lettuce. Was tempted to get a Apple tree there that had 4 different varieties! Overall, might be better to order from their catalog, but it is worth visiting the store if you're in the area! read more

Inconsistent results with these seeds. One packet of lemon cucumber seeds they sent me was completely empty. They replaced the pack right away but that should just not happen. The other pack - Armenian cucumber seeds - I got two cucumber plants from the entire packet - no germination with most of the seeds under the most ideal conditions (indoor sowing). Seeds that did well: broccoli, carrots, radishes, basil, dill, and tomatoes. Lettuce seeds have been a bust. Meanwhile, lettuce seeds from another company have resulted in great lettuce. Lettuce is one of the easiest crops to grow; I've grown lettuce for years in the worst of conditions and have had no issues. At first I thought it was me but after trying seeds from other companies and finding success, I realized their lettuce seeds are not great. They germinate but the lettuce has not been tender and tasty like it should be. Overall, not impressed. After spending over $200 in the past two years, I'm trying Johnny's Selected Seeds next year. read more

They were having a Black Friday sale on top of wholesale in shop pricing. I purchased 4 large bags of organic potting soil and 2 draping plants and a 6-pak of trailing herbs. We order Sungold tomato plants every season from Territorial Seed. We are located in Missouri. Each year, the plants arrive via FedEx, in excellent condition. There were a couple of years where one of the plants had been broken off in shipping. When I contacted Customer Service about the damage, a replacement plant was immediately shipped to us. We have also purchased seeds from the company. The seeds are pesticide free. Sometimes, when we didn't plant all of the seeds, we have put them out for the local birds to eat. read more

After getting their catalog in the mail I decided to order some seeds. I usually order from a different supplier, but from now on I will order by seeds from Territorial. I live in Southern CA so I start my tomatoes early because by mid summer it's too hot for young tomato plants. The heirloom tomato seeds I got fromTerritorial sprouted after 3 days (soaked in water for 6hrs before putting in peat pellets in tray with heating mat underneath with T5 grow lights). 100% of the seeds sprouted and created very strong plants. With my prior supplier maybe 75% would sprout and only a few would be healthy. I also got a number of hot peppers from them and those too are doing well and were all routing within a week of planting in the peat pellets. My only predicament now is I don't have room for all the healthy plants I got because usually most of the seedlings don't make it. I'll be buying more seed from them in the future. read more

I just got my fig tree from this firm for 19.95. It was approximately 3" tall. It was sad as I was waiting for this I had bypassed a 3' tree in a nursery for the same price. I have spent years dealing with this firm. I have gotten good service and plants in the past although they are pricey. While I haven't even received my plant that I had ordered yet, I have had a great experience so far. I ordered a green tree plant back in january which I had thought said would arrive in march-April. Being that it is nearly mid April and I have not yet received the plant, I called customer service to find out status of the plant. When I called I spoke to customer service representative Ruth and she was so fabulous. It's so rare these days to have good customer service and Ruth was awesome. She was so sweet and helpful!!! She let me know the plant I ordered actually gets delivered in late April to may (I remembered the dates incorrectly). I actually enjoyed calling customer service and having them assist me.
