When I arrived at the hearing, he was already attending a virtual hearing for another client, utilizing his laptop, and continued to do so through my entire hearing. I dealt briefly with his paralegal, and when I expressed my dissatisfaction with the lack of care and attention to my case, she apologized and said they had a lot of other cases to deal with and she just did not have time to assist with mine. Wow! I did not prevail in my case but he readily took my money, and he told me at the hearing that when he agreed to take my case he knew he was already committed to hearings for the same day as my hearing, as if he was insinuating he was doing me a favor. William Fuhrman has shown me once again zero faith in legal services here in San Diego. He has now cost me the safety of my child, time and money for refiling, and unfair moneys that are due because of the lack of representation in my custody hearing. He has exhibited negligence and carelessness in my case which is a little more complex. He is rude, intolerable, blatantly ignores communications that would make him work for answers, and lacks seriousness in court. Getting on to my experience, I hired William to handle my custody case and child support. Firstly, I made it clear before the contract I would only use $4000 max for services. Of course, after I fired him he decides to overcharge me. I made myself very clear that I wanted to get full physical and legal custody of my daughter. William actually told me I am not going to get that granted. I told him I want to try anyway for the safety of my daughter. I gave him the long explanation of the dangerous living environment for my daughter due to a heavy drug user at my ex's home. It was imperative I get my daughter out of there. After I had a mediation with family court services they even recommended to the judge I should have full custody of my daughter and limited visitation to my ex. I expressed my deep concern and request for full custody with family court services. With them recommending to the judge it shouldn't be that hard from this point. Well, William for some reason filed with the court a lesser time than 50% and an outrageous visitation schedule. William didn't listen nor keep up with my case with new events happening as I needed to correspond with him on such events. Even on the day of the hearing he LEFT the computer while the names were being called which in turn was not present when the judge called us into the hearing. When I called him to let him know this he told me he had to just step away for a while. I enforced my position in going with the family court services recommendation to have full custody. He then went back to the hearing wait room and didn't even bother to speak up to the judge to get our case heard. We were told we will have to come back the next day. William is now charging me for that day we missed. So, you will get charged for his mistakes. Next day, he started the hearing telling the judge the family court services recommendations were too harsh and would contest the recommendation. I had no idea what he was saying that morning with his legal terminology and considering I knew I had already told him my request for custody. I later read deeply into the subject of the hearing and my stomach dropped. The judge was giving my ex more than 50% of custody and making me do the drop off and pick ups at a Vons which was close to my ex. William neglected many of my requests to the judge that day. Returning my daughters passport, paying back all the monitor visits my ex was to pay, requesting time back with my daughter since my ex was using the court as an advantage claiming multiple TRO that were granted. All restraining attempts were denied by the judge. Requesting at least an emergency holiday vacation for my daughter to see her family for the first time over the holidays. Nope, he also made a BS schedule for holidays. All of this and he couldn't even take the time to explain to me what the orders were after the judge made them. He was too bitter because I told him that was a poor job he did, then asked him to file an appeal or somehow fix what he did. I expressed I would not be continuing with him if he didn't fix this. This ultimately ending our last conversation on the phone with William saying "go fuck yourself". Then hung up. To speak more of his unprofessionalism, William sent me emails containing another clients case information with a settlement negotiation. It makes me wonder if my case information has been shared with another party. Ask yourself if you would want your case information being shared to a random person...(maybe a hacker.) That puts us all at risk. More disregard or irresponsibility to my case he would call me to ask information that was already provided to him in previous emails. As a firm they have staff to read through emails for information.

Attorneys are expensive, and the whole situation drained all my resources. After speaking to other attorneys in my area who wanted outrageous amounts of money, Chris Ridgeway agreed to meet with me and consult my case. After explaining him the situation Chris Ridgeway decided to take my case knowing that I was broke and didn't make a lot of money. I gave Chris the last $500 I had in my pocket as a retainer and he agreed to make a monthly payment plan with me as it was all I could afford. We decided on a cap of $5000 for the case with $500 monthly payments. The case became more complicated as the tenants had counter sued me for a wrongful eviction and served me discoveries. These tenants also decided to sue my brother because he was present while I served them eviction paperwork. Chris also fought my brother's side of the case as it was ridiculous that my brother was even being sued at all. Chris Ridgeway knew it was a frivolous case the other party was counter suing me for, it could get messy, be a lot of work and the tenants already had 3 or 4 prior evictions on their public records! Fast forward almost 1 year later of Chris Ridgeway working hard on my case and the tenants countersuing me are now dropping the case as their attorneys were ditching them as they knew they couldn't win a frivolous case. I'm sure they made a grave mistake encountering my old tenants who stopped paying their rent.
