While attempting to arrange transportation via Uber, I was verbally confronted by a staff member identified as Shu Hopkins. Mr. Hopkins exhibited aggressive and vulgar behavior, which culminated in him violently snatching my phone out of my hand mid-call while I was speaking with a witness via FaceTime. I was in a vulnerable state, recovering from anesthesia and disoriented, which made his conduct even more distressing and unacceptable. The incident was witnessed in real time via FaceTime, and the individual on the call is prepared to submit a supporting statement attesting to the aggression and physical nature of the act. At the time of the incident, Emily Herbst, whom I understand is the daughter of the practice owner and was serving as manager on duty, was present. I am requesting a full internal investigation into the behavior of Mr. Hopkins and a formal response from your office outlining what steps will be taken to address this matter and prevent similar occurrences in the future. Your practice, registered under New Jersey Dental License Number DI01888113 and NPI 1356626139, has an obligation to provide a safe and respectful environment for all patients. I intend to escalate this matter to the appropriate regulatory and legal authorities should there be no satisfactory response.     Unethical billing practices!…read more I received treatment in February and insurance coverage was all satisfied and my out of pocket was paid and good to go. They called 6 months later stating there was an issue with the coverage and now I owe an additional 500$ out of pocket and it will shortly go to collections due to the timeframe. Save the trouble and don't go here. I should've paid more attention to similar reviews stating the same tactics. Please avoid this place if you can.

    $2,000 Unexpected Bills and Lack of Transparency…read more Avoid this clinic. There are numerous reports of patients facing unexpected bills, even after the office made it seem that everything was resolved with insurance and payment. In April, I had my teeth extracted by Dr. Isabelle DeMatteis. This clinic was everything I did not expect as a patient. As a patient, you trust that the office will care for you, and this includes making sure you can afford the treatment. I read the reviews and felt hesitant, but I decided to trust the clinic because many times I asked about my treatment, and they made me believe it could not cost more than the amount indicated, as they were handling the insurance. Now, I completely regret not listening to other patients. From what I see in reviews, the clinic has a pattern of sending unexpected bills after treatment has already been completed, which leads me to believe that the office has little interest in giving patients information on how to get an accurate quote from insurance regarding the cost of treatment. I only confirmed my appointment after receiving the treatment plan, trusting that the office had checked with my insurance as I was told. At no point--neither in person nor via message--was I informed that the final cost could be so drastically different, or that I might need another prior authorization. At no time was I advised to check with my insurance or request a prior authorization myself. I ended up being charged over $2,000 for two wisdom tooth extractions. I had this treatment because of pain, and I feel shocked and misled--I believed I was being properly cared for, and now I feel deceived. Where are Dr. Paul Calat and Dr. Michele? It seems that the dentists at this clinic are not at all concerned with the many negative reviews from patients who felt misled by the office. Clear communication and guidance regarding insurance and costs would go a long way toward preventing unnecessary stress. I am taking steps to understand my rights as a patient. If you feel the same way, I encourage you to do the same. And if you haven't become a patient yet, find another office--protect your health and avoid unnecessary stress.

He was very…read morethorough with the surgery, answered all my questions, and asked me to come back for my autopsy results in a few days after. I had a difficult time booking a follow-up appointment with the receptionists because Dr. Quiñones is rarely in the Hoboken office so I decided to follow-up with Dr. Scalia instead (a week after my surgery). During my follow-up visit, my results were not out at the time, so the doctor assured me that the office will reach out to me via phone to tell me the results. Months past and I've followed-up with the office multiple times on the phone. Each time I called, I received the same "we are not in THAT office today, I will have someone get back you, tomorrow". The receptionist and I must have very different perceptions of "tomorrow" is because I have never heard back from the office. In addition, the office insisted that I pay during the day of my surgery for my co-pay and surgery fees because they've reached out to my insurance company and know "about-how-much-I-was-supposed to pay." I received a break down from my insurance company a week after my surgery and it turns out, the receptionist charged me 50% more than what my bill was supposed to be. I called the office again and they assured me that I would receive a check from the office in 4-5 weeks after my surgery. It's been more than 2.5 months. Where is that check? Where is my autopsy? Ridiculous. Not to mention. Rude. I regret ever contacting this place.

    Due to COVID, I've been extra careful and selective about all medical visits and I must say that…read morethis office is exceptionally careful. My previous dentist was also in Hoboken (will not name) and when I went for my cleaning and to address an issue I was having with a crown, they put patients in the stalls next to me and didn't social distance us which was odd. When leaving, I noticed multiple members of staff intermittently wearing masks (ie pulling them down to speak to each other). This left me extremely uncomfortable and in search of a new dental office I went. First, the staff here is wonderful - courteous, friendly and wonderful customer service. Dr. Moawad diagnosed my crown issue, explained my options and great bed side manner. Second - I wish I knew her name, but the receptionist was great. When I called to asked about their Covid protocol, she explained in detail that they have air purifiers in every room, mandate masks all time, and send all paperwork in advance to be completed digitally to limit any in-person exchange, I can't recommend this place enough.

I did not feel kind, courteous, or like they were at all welcome to accept new patients.
