It goes like this...I was making breakfast on 02/24/25 about 1130 am and I was tasting my French toast . Took a slither and BAM out came my crown and I bit and chipped it ! It's crazy but I had that crown for about 12 years ! I panicked immediately thinking I chipped my natural teeth , but lo and behold it was the crown!! I was in a better state of mind at this point but I wanted to get it replaced ASAP! I was looking desperately for emergency care in the same day but I believe since it was already near noon all the other dentists were booked or closed for the day! I remembered that my lady had gotten her filling done here and she was very pleased so I called to see if they could do it. After some back and forth I They actually had an appointment for me 10am on 2/25/25!! I hadn't spoke to the doctor yet it was just the receptionist that booked my appointment! I got there at like 9:40 am and did all the paperwork and one of the doctors named John greeted me and escorted me to the operating room/ office . He was super polite and got everything set up and ready for the other doctor.. Doctor Wang! She explained that after her assessment I needed a new crown and it would be like my older porcelain ones it would be zirconia. (Zirconia crowns are a high-quality dental restoration option that offers excellent strength, durability, and aesthetic appeal. They are a metal-free choice for patients who want a long-lasting and natural-looking solution for damaged or decayed teeth. Who wants to really have a temporary cover for an unknown amount of time. Then she politely said it would be a few because we had to prepare the exposed tooth for the crown. You know the X-rays , needles grinding of the tooth, then filling . But it wasn't a bad experience at all! it was Dr. Wang and John all the way from start to finish! John & Dr. Wang The Dynamic Duo of the Dental industry!! It was like the perfect system as they did all the dental care then used their state of the art 3d printing computer/machines to scan my mouth and teeth, to construct my new crown that matches and fits perfectly! I was there for about 2.5 hours and got it all done and looks amazing ! I could not believe John and Dr. Wang got it done so easily and rapidly! Thank you guys for your accurate and speedy work! Administrative Incompetence: I booked in December for a January spot. They canceled last minute and pushed me back an entire month. Didn't offer anything sooner even though the reschedule was their fault. Then, after I picked a 9:00 AM slot provided by their own system and received multiple confirmations, a week before they called to tell me they aren't even open at that time. To make matters worse, they insinuated I picked a wrong time, rather than the fact that it was again, their scheduling error. Major Safety Violation: The scheduling is bad, but the clinical care is worse. During my last cleaning, they hadn't secured a metal component on a spray gun properly. It shot off into my mouth like a projectile. Luckily it hit hard inside my mouth. If it had gone down my throat the situation would have been life-threatening. It is clear this office has no regard for their patients' time or their physical safety. After months of being jerked around and a near-miss with a piece of metal, I'm done. Do yourself a favor and find a dentist who is actually organized and safe. read more

I have a terrible gag reflex which drive most dentists and hygienists crazy. I have been a patient for several years at Nova Dental and just had a crown put on a back tooth. The team was incredibly patient and was ultimately successful. They never lost their composure even though I was so stressed and often wanted to give up. Throughout, they offered non-stop positive and reassuring comments. I also continue to use Shannon as my hygienist as she never triggers the reflex, unlike every other hygienist I have used over the past many decades. I moved two months ago to CT but will continue to use Nova Dental as the long commute is worth it. read more

In 2022, I went to this dental practice for filling. After the treatment, I experienced discomfort, particularly with the sharp edges of the fillings. So I made another appointment to address these concerns, and during that visit, their staff assured me that there would be no charges (Of course. I went there again because the dentist didn't do it well. They need to be responsible for the flaws they made and fix it without additional charges.) However, after a year. In 2023, I was recently contacted by their office, stating that I needed to pay for the services rendered during that follow-up appointment. They charged a patient for the follow-up appointment because they didn't do the filling well for the initial procedure. It's overcharging. It's unethical. That is just one of the examples. Also, they always exaggerated the severity of your dental issues and tried to sell you unnecessary procedures/treatments. BAIT AND SWITCH! Quoted one price on the phone for a routine cleaning and then after completion charge a completely different price because "the dentist" came in for 30 seconds????? Be up front and say that on the phone to begin with. This place used to be wonderful when Lydia owned it now it is just horrible this people do not know what they are doing....several occasions they have rescheduled my appointment due to scheduling conflicts I am flexible but I have to stop my blood thinners for 3 days prior to going to the dentist which reschedule does not work to well for me considering it is not good for me to have to extend not taking blood thinners or if its weeks later not take them again. Honestly they just do not give the customer service they should and quite frankly I am surprised they are still in business. read more

Having been a patient since the first month this office opened (10+ years), I am switching dentists. I guess the original dentist sold the practice a couple of years ago? Since then, this place has been the absolute worst. I have had four appointments over the last two years, and have been seen by a different dentist and hygienist each time. The dentists on call have spent a TOTAL of maybe 5 minutes with me (this is COMBINED TIME, not each). Literally walk in, ask me if I want to do whitening or other unnecessary cosmetic nonsense, and then walk out--didn't even look at the x-rays! The hygienists are usually very nice and do a good job with the cleaning, and the front-desk staff is always very good. but the dentists are beyond terrible. Never again. read more

HORRIBLE!!! This one star is only for the new receptionist who has been great with scheduling appointments. Nova, is only here for making money, while patient priority has taken a back seat. I went here to make partial dentures and they did such a terrible job! They told me that it would last for 6 months, but this one broke within 2 months. When I went back, they charged me around $250 again! Also, their doctors don't bother calling their patients, even though they have scheduled the call. Seems like they don't have time for new patients. Why would you take new patients when you don't have time?? I would not go to them even if there's an emergency. Prior to seemingly being sold to new mgmt a couple years ago, this place was the BEST. Ever since the practice completely degraded. You get a new dentist and hygienist every time you go. The last time I went, the dentist I saw looked at my mouth for 5 seconds and immediately asked when the last time I got a checkup was, as if to imply something was wrong. I immediately responded that my last checkup was 6 months ago right in this very chair, and so what seems to be the problem. She proceeded to tell me that I have 4-6 potential cavities (total shock me to, I've only had one cavity my whole life) and when I said I'd come back another time to address she suggested I get them filled right then and there. Shame on me for not pushing back but sure enough, I got the fillings and have had continued nerve and gum pain ever since. Going on 6 months now, I generally only chew with the left side of my mouth (the fillings were on the right side). If I were to guess, I'd say they 100% have a commission based model with these 'part-time' dentist leading them to over diagnosis and then push for resolution services ASAP so that they are the ones to take advantage of the additional compensation. Safe to say, after 8 years as a patient, I won't be back. read more

I have been a patient of Nova Dental for years, so it saddens me to see how it has gone downhill. Not sure what has changed so dramatically in this past year but patient care is no longer a priority in my experience. My last dental cleaning was painful, which was NEVER an issue before. It was horrible. I also ordered a replacement Invisalign in July 2021. Nova dental took my money, but never processed the request. I followed up with four phones calls and one visit. After six months, I finally have received it. Their explanation was that they called me "3 weeks ago" and I explained that I didn't receive a phone call or voicemail or text. I went in to pick it up and they didn't offer an apology. Patient care seems to be a low priority now. It's a shame to see such a decline and poor treatment. read more

I've been dealing with them for over a year now. I went in for an annual cleaning and they found 3 cavities - my first ones ever. They told me my insurance was accepted there (and even triple checked for me) so I went through with the process of everything. Weeks later I received a bill in the mail for over $500 because they actually didn't accept my insurance. After weeks of battling, my insurance wouldn't cover this since it was out of network and Nova refused to help in any way. Every month I have been paying $25 towards a major bill. Today I called to pay another $25 and they said I was required to pay my remainder in full and they weren't able to accept only $25. I had to push on them to let me only pay the $25 and still have a balance due to pay more next month. Clearly I am never going here again since they don't take my insurance, but their lack of attention to detail and professionalism is appalling. To try to push someone to pay in full when they don't have to and to completely drop the ball on insurance! I don't recommend at all. They're clearly just in this for the money. read more

I feel so lucky to have access to dentists as skilled and as ethical as Dr. Lydia and her team at Nova Dental. I first discovered the practice about 6 years ago, and have always received top notch care and advice from skilled professionals. I have had Nova Dental repair or create a few crowns/onlays, and it is amazing how much more seamless the experience is when using the CEREC system that they have in place. More than once Dr. Lydia has come in on her day off to help me with emergency care and provide assistance during the emergency contact number after hours. Most recently, I had an onlay chip during the time that the practice was shut down due to COVID-19. I am staying out of state temporarily and found a provider here to help with my issue due to my location and the time sensitive nature of fixing the onlay. This other practice did not take care of me and did a terrible job prepping my tooth while proposing expensive and invasive measures. I called Dr. Lydia and she agreed to take a look and see if she could help me instead. What a relief! Dr. Lydia assessed the situation and while she was left with a poorly prepped tooth, she was able to masterfully use the CEREC technology and create a perfectly-fitting crown in one visit. I was so grateful and relieved. It is truly such a gift to have a dental provider who I can truly trust! I would recommend Nova Dental to ANYONE looking for attentive and skilled dental care. Dr. Lidia doesn't seem to be around at all anymore. Maybe she sold the practice? I have been a patient since she opened Nova in Hoboken maybe 16 + yrs ago. When I started going Dr Lidia had long hair!! . Even on the days she wasn't in the office the overall vibe was positive and professional. The dentists she hired all were great. I saw a lot of them, she asked me if I would see them and I agreed. Never once were they bad. Most were fairly young so many moved out of the area after a few years. But all were great. I used to love and recommend this practice. Not so much now. They aren't the worst but not the best either. I see a dental tech who assists who is the same as when dr Lidia was there and he is still great but that is it! Everyone else's is new (and at this point newish since it's been like this for maybe 2 years? The one other women who is a dental hygienist or tech is great with me and my daughter, so sweet but otherwise this practice just has a strange vibe and what seems to be a revolving door of dentists. At least Dr Lidia's dentists hung around for a few years, they seem to have a new set every 6 mo! The one specialty dentist who comes once a week, removed a broken tooth. He was good and the one dr who I saw initially after dr Lidia was gone, I liked but she was gone within the first year. Every time i'm there I see a new dentist and there seems to be so much activity in the place that doesn't involve patients. It's just strange. The pediatric dentist was good too. I don't know, it's just not a nice dental office anymore. I'm looking at new dentists now because I just don't like going here anymore and I don't know if I trust them since Dr Lidia does not seem to be involved anymore. This place was great with her and her staff but now it's just meh. Like I said after 16+ years I am now looking around for a new place. Go here if your desperate, you may get lucky. I came in for a routine cleaning which was with the hygienist. The dentist did not exam my teeth. In the past, when I've visited other practices, I've always seen the dentist; but in this case, the dentist didn't make an appearance which made me feel shortchanged and nervous that something had been missed. I'm annoyed because now I have to find another place where I'll actually see a dentist and have another routine check. And the photo is not helpful because I'm assuming that's of the dentist who I didn't actually see. read more

I was cheated, too (I see other reviews have had the same problem with them). After my employer switched dental insurance, I checked with Nova to see if I was still covered. They told me I was covered 100% for my appointment, only to be hit with a $170 bill for a cleaning and x-rays. That was my last time going there. Today, one of my fillings from two years ago fell out from flossing! When I called Nova for them to repair an obviously bad filling job they told me if it fell out within a year I would be covered, but I would have to pay full price now. Going to a health professional should not feel like the same experience as an auto body shop. Go somewhere else. read more

Let me start by saying that I absolutely hate going to the dentist. In fact, I hadn't been to one in close to a decade, gross I know. I started experiencing tooth pain to the point where I couldn't drink ice water and knew it was time to get things checked out. Nova Dental was recommended to me by a close friend and I had my first experience there today. Dr. Bradsha is a dream. She went out of her way, along with her wonderful assistant, Lilly to make me as comfortable as possible. The bedside manner is a 10 out of 10. The facility is spotless and I had zero wait time. She cared for me through two pregnancies during which I had to have dental work done. My family and I have been going to Nova since they opened. I was getting taken for a ride by another Hoboken dentist and switched over. Lucky for me, they took my insurance, where the previous dentist dropped my insurance and raised the rates. First, I get nothing but courteous service from everyone there. They communicate clearly with me about what will be covered and what I will owe for each visit. I'm a nut about novocaine. Most of the dental work in my mouth has been done without numbing. I am not given a hard time and Dr. Lydia is very kind about it. Recently, I had a crown work done and decided I wanted to try a light numbing and we had a long dialog about it. Dr. Lydia respected my request and it was done perfectly. The recent crown was one we were watching for a couple of years. Dr. Lydia thought it would be best to wait until the crack became a real issue before doing the work. WOW, someone who wasn't trying to soak me for a non-issue. I read some of the reviews, especially the negative ones, and I just shake my head. I just can't believe that I'm getting the complete story because my experience is the polar opposite. Courteous, professional, and honest. Recommended without hesitation. read more

I have nothing but great things to say about this office. They are always very friendly, fast, and efficient. For whatever reason, I end up seeing a different dentist each cleaning, but they have all been wonderful. I recently moved from Jersey City to NYC, and still commute to this location. And this very evening I called to reschedule my appointment, and the women on the phone was so friendly and helpful. I read a review saying that they are always trying to get money from you, but I have had the opposite experience. I had inquired about a certain procedure, and both dentists I had seen told me that I could get it done, but it wasn't necessary and they saved me money. Highly recommend! read more

I know, I know - no one likes going to the dentist. Paying to be uncomfortable and in potential pain is seems nonsensicle. However, I was pleasantly surprised at this place. It had been too long since I saw a dentist and I needed a dental practice in the area that wouldn't leave me fearing another visit. I was able to get an appointment right away (very usual) and was impressed by the kind demeanour of the woman who scheduled me. The office itself is clean, super modern and has a nice decor. The cleaning went smoothly and the hygienist was gentle and friendly. The dentist came in later and was personable and calming. They discovered I needed some work and they were very detailed in walking me through the process of that as well as the cost (they even called my insurance for an exact quote). I highly recommend this place - if your going to go somewhere to have your mouth invaded, make it this place. Ha. :) read more

3 years ago I had to cancel an appointment for my child because he was sick & I called ahead to do so & naturally reschedule. Not soon after I shockingly received a $100 cancellation fee. I called the office immediately and was told that because it was my family's second time canceling an appointment I would be charged a fee. Receptionist & dentist couldn't have been ruder if they were paid to do so. A family of four, 2 being toddlers at the time, 2 working parents, what are the chances of having to reschedule appointments from time to time?? Such a shame that in today's economy with large medical groups taking over, a private practice would treat a local family that way. read more

I've been a patient of this practice for more than 6 years now. I've always had a lovely experience with very sweet dental hygienists and easy doctor visits. This evening is nothing short of POOR business sense, appalling customer service, and total disregard for the patient/client. I have a very hectic work schedule and commute in and out of the city every day. Taking the latest appointment for a routine cleaning they can offer (6:15pm) is the best option, but still has me leaving 45 minutes early from work. What's more, getting that kind of late appointment means it's booked 6 months in advance, and this time, strategically so, as I'm getting married on May 20. Needless to say, with last-minute wedding planning coupled with a stressful job and commute, I don't have much spare time. I left my office in ample time to make my 6:15 appointment, but as Mondays will be, there was a long line at Port Authority for a bus. I called to tell them I'd be roughly 10-15 mins late, apologizing for the bus situation, which is out of my hands. Instead of saying, sure, thanks for calling, the receptionist replies that their policy is that I can't be any more than 10 minutes late. I said that I understand policy, but that I'm the last patient of the day, it's a routine cleaning, and I absolutely cannot reschedule. Her response is essentially that I need to be there by 6:25. At 6:25 I call them to say I'm two blocks away---the receptionist hangs up on me. At 6:27 I'm off the bus and physically RUNNING two blocks. ). I arrive and tell them my name. A few minutes later the dental hygienist calls my name only to tell me that she cannot do a full cleaning, all rooms are taken (which is impossible if they planned for me to be there 4 minutes earlier), and "everything is shut down." She offers me x-rays and an exam, as if that is sufficient in some way, and wouldn't require me to come back again. I asked her, "really?" because frankly, I could not believe what I was hearing. There was a patient in front of me, I could hear other employees and patients in the back. The door was open; the lights were on; I could hear the machines....yet, she tells me everything is "shut down". What's more, is that it was clear to me, to the hygienist, the to receptionists, and truthfully the the other patient checking out, what was really happening here. As the last appointment, everyone wanted to go home and couldn't be bothered to have their workday extended by 4 (FOUR) minutes. Instead of inconveniencing themselves for a mere 4 minutes, they would rather inconvenience a patient--someone who RAN to get there, will now have to use MORE PTO to get her teeth cleaned, three weeks before her wedding. And of course, there are NO late appointments (if you can even call 6:15 late) nor early appointments before my wedding. I very bluntly told them that I would expect some sense of customer/patient courtesy to be shown, but Nova Dental Center has made it very clear that they are not at their patients' service, but instead we are at their mercy. Whether a doctor was involved in this decision is unknown, but if this practice wants to last, they need to show a little more respect for their patients. This is such a disgusting and blatant power play. Could they have taken me? Yes. But they didn't because they could. Yes, I am aware I was late. Yes I'm aware that everyone working there has lives and responsibilities and obligations just like I do. But this very fact is exactly why I would expect something more. Some sort of logic. Some understanding that this isn't someone purposefully disregarding their time, but someone who is asking them to respect hers. What could have been solved in a matter of minutes is now 10x more inconvenient. Time to start looking for a new dentist. read more

So I called for a quote since this place got 5 stars. They said they cannot give me any information since they don't have me in the system. And they don't know how much the insurance covers etc. When I told them 80% of the cost is the bite guard she said ok so 80% is covered. When I asked what the cost was, she said she needed my info she wasn't sure. I said ok let me give you my information so I can get an idea of how much it will cost me. She said sorry you need to make an appointment for me to give you that information. And that was that. In this day and age if you cannot help someone over the phone then why should I bother to use your services when I don't know what my costs are. My daughter has been going to Nova for the past two years. I love the hygenist that takes care of her. My daughter has been examined by three different dentists during this time, all of whom are personable and really take the time to explain things. Although we moved out of the area, I still take her to see these wonderful people. I scheduled today's appointment with the receptionist two months ago. We had a conversation at that time and I informed her that my daughter and I are unable to schedule an appointment before 1:45 pm. She said okay, just get here as soon as you can. She did not call the day before to confirm the appointment. Well, today we were ten minutes late due to transportation problems. We have never been late before. When we got to the office, the receptionist said that my daughter cannot be seen. She further went on to say that her appointment was at 1:30 pm and said that a pediatric cleaning takes 1/2 hour. I find her to be incredibly unprofessional by blaming me for her scheduling error. If what she is said is true, then even if I did show up with my daughter at 1:45 pm, she would have been turned away anyway. So, yes, I find the receptionist extremely unprofessional for blaming me for her scheduling mistake. She has ruined our experience. We've moved on.... read more

Will not recommend them at all. They cheated me ! They put on a porcelain crown saying they have done the needed checks and that my insurance covers it but in reality the truth is that they do not do metallic crowns which is why they influenced me into a porcelain crown by hiding the facts. Bottomline : The manager gave me a written estimate of what I will have to pay after the treatment after checking with my insurance but in the end they made me pay much more than the estimate I was given because they did certain exams without my knwoledge. I love going to Nova dental, they really make it a point to get to know their patients and make you feel right at home. They are friendly, honest, and never try to sell you on unnessesary procedures as some places do. Last year when the big snow storm came they stayed open several hours later than normal for several days to make up for all the appointments that they had to cancel. Not many places would do that. I've been coming here for a year and a half now and even if I move to Brooklyn this summer, I will trek it over to Hoboken to come here. read more

Had a great experience here (as far as dentist visits go.) Booking an appointment was very easy. The place is super clean with modern equipment. My dentist was very nice and definitely did his best to make sure I was as comfortable and pain-free as possible.
