I am so relieved to read some of reviews here, knowing that i was not the only person who had to deal with this extremely ridiculous billing process. Dr. Lynch is very sweet and friendly but something is really wrong about how she deals with her billing. She sent me bills a year or two years after this dental work she did for me and my husband. Since we had an insurance, i sent her whatever checks i got from the insurance company so i thought everything was taken care of. Then one or two years later, she sent me a bill. When i got that email, i thought it was a scam. I got furious that she didn't charge me right away and also said something like i didn't have to worry about the cost much. What the hell does that mean? Then she sent me all the bills i wasn't aware of much much later.. I ended up paying most of it (maybe $4-500?) and felt so horrible. I also had appointment issues and all kinds of strange issue with her staff but because I liked Dr. Lynch, i put up with them..Then this billing issue was so unethical and shocking. read more

Please avoid her. She committed insurance fraud with me too. Total crook! All of the other reviews are true. I recently became out of network after going to Dr. Lynch for many years. She never told me. I didn't find out until I had called my insurance company. Had I had a crown or other serious dental problem, I would have been paying her out of pocket at incredibly high rates. Her excuse for not telling me she was out of network? "You've never had a root canal, so I didn't need to tell you." When was she going to tell me, when I was dying of pain in her office with a serious problem. Also, when I received my check from the insurance company, she would not send me the right bill. She said, "whatever the check amount is from Delta Dental, that's how much you owe." The last bill I received from her was for half the amount of the check! Luckily, I called my insurance company, and it was ok. Don't trust her! She's nice to your face, but will stab you right in the back. read more

I have used Dr. Lynch for over a decade and only have positive experiences to report. She helped me with dental issues during the height of Covid, I never feel pain when I needed a tooth removed or had a filling and she is always very nice whenever I go see her. I can't speak to billing issues as I've never had any. Is some of the dental work a little pricey sure but compared to my childhood dentist Dr Lynch is 1000 times better. read more

I went to this dentist in 2011. I stopped going to her after she surprised me with a bill that looked nothing like what was discussed before the procedures. Looking at ALL the reviews it's like reading about the weinstein allegations. Everyone is taken in by her pleasant manners and not pleasantly surprised by the wacky bill she sends out. I am revisiting this issue now because my current dentist pointed out that the "dental guards" I got through Dr.Lynch are in fact retainers. My current doctor is aghast .. like who does this?!? I don't know!! I'm just a patient. what do I know?!?! I did not have a dentist in the area and had a severe tooth ache and swollen gum Friday night. Saturday morning I looked up dentists in Hoboken open Saturdays on Yelp. I found Brian Warner (same address and phone number) open on Saturdays. I called around 9am and got Dr. Lynch's office. They were able to see me at 10am. Dr. Lynch was super friendly and hospitable. She performed a periodontal treatment on the gum and then recommended I come in for a cleaning this upcoming week. When I went to pay, the receptionist did not seem to know what she was doing, took my insurance and credit card and billed me 20% of the bill and said they would call me if that was the incorrect amount. Although my mouth was numb the rest of the day, by Sunday I was feeling 100 times better. I came on Yelp today to read Dr. Lynch's reviews (since I only read Dr. Brian Warner's prior to my first appointment with Dr. Lynch) and now I am concerned and considering canceling my upcoming appointment. I can definitely believe that the office has billing issues based on my experience Saturday, but these reviews reiterate that thought. It's a shame because Dr. Lynch seemed to be a really nice and knowledgeable dentist but I am not sure it's worth the risk of possible billing headaches and extra out of pocket fees. read more

I'm surprised by these negative reviews. I've been a patient of Dr. Lynch's for 8 years -- Invisalign, cleaning, a root canal and veneers repaired. I've rarely, if ever, had to wait more than 5 minutes to see a doctor or get a cleaning, my paperwork has always been handled properly and in a timely manner....I recently moved out of town and still come back to Hoboken for Dr. Lynch as a dentist because a new dentist in South Orange was awful. There must be other circumstances that people have left such bad reviews. My brother went here, my wife went here -- we all loved everyone in the office! read more

This dentist doesn't deserve one star. Sadly I worked at the office and got out when I realized what she was doing. She commits insurance fraud. She has no conscience and then she pays for a service to clean up Yelp. This message too will be deleted soon by her. Dr Lynch does her own billing. If you check her with the Board of Dentistry she has multiple complaints and investigations of her claims. She has charged patients for crowns when she only did a filling. She always bills for a curettage (deep cleaning) without notifying the patient. The list goes on. Don't go to this dentist! She blames her staff when the patient questions their insurance billing. I can tell you , Dr Lynch does her own billing or dictates to a staff member what they must charge for. While her staff may be incompetent, Dr Lynch is solely responsible for all billing fraud. If you have been to her and were billed incorrectly or paid her money you didn't feel you should have, contact the Board of Dentistry to file a claim. read more

I last went to this practice a few years ago. Point 1, as many say, the practice engages in insurance fraud. I found out that the office billed my insurance for a root canal, and I never had one!! I went to this office and firmly said to straighten it out. Two weeks later, I called my insurance, and not only had it not been straightened out but the office tried to re-bill for the fraudulent claim several times. So I went back and said I had tried to allow them to straighten it out, but they would now be investigated by the insurance company. Recently, I had to have one of the caps done by her re-done, as there was some space between the cap and the gums under the cap, a place that could surely get infected. Lots of associates come and go here, that is part of it. But the insurance issue is clearly a problem, given the number of statements by many. I wish I had checked yelp before going to this dentist yesterday. If it were possible, I would leave a 0-star review. The first thing that caught my attention was the busted upholstery on the dental chair, then the dental tray with instruments that kept on falling from its suspended position, then the chipped and rusted small sink beside the chair where I rinsed out my mouth, not to mention the dirty water filled with black specks the dental hygienist gave me to rinse with. After those few things I knew I would not be back. I went in for a regular cleaning and I've had a tooth with a root canal that has been bothering me. Dr. Lynch looked at my tooth and said the gum around my tooth was inflamed and they would do a periodontal treatment to help ease the irritation. But before she even began she asked me what I wanted to do...I have no idea, you're the dentist not me! She decided I would have the periodontal treatment and a routine cleaning. The dental hygienist numbed my gums with numbing gel and told me to stop her at any point if I needed more numbing. This was the most painful thing I have ever been through. She was digging into my gums with her instrument and it produced quite a bit of blood. When I tried to stop her because of the pain she just said "ok" and kept on going. When she finally stopped she sighed and said "I guess that's all for today" what do you mean you "guess"? These people should not be in business. When it came time for the cleaning the hygienist flossed between my teeth and made sure to spend extra excruciating time shoving the floss down into the gum she has just finishing digging into. She then got out the instrument to clean my teeth with. From past experience I knew this would be less painful and that at least I would leave the office with clean teeth...WRONG. Instead of cleaning each tooth individually, the hygienist just swept the instrument over my top and bottom teeth. She was honestly finished with my "cleaning" in less than 5 minutes. Before I left I expected to see the dentist again since she said I had cavities...wrong again. I saw her as I was walking out the door and she said "next time we'll do another treatment for your gums and get your cavities filled, in about 2 weeks or so." She never told me how many cavities I had or even where they were located in my mouth. The entire experience was a nightmare and really shady. I definitely will not be going back and I am looking into filing a complaint with the American Dental Association. read more

went to this dentist after seeing positive reviews in 2009. i did not have dental insurance. she told me i needed to have all my metal fillings replaced with composite ones (8 of them) and would give me a discount because i didn't have insurance. i trusted her and let her do it. she also gave me a root canal for a painful tooth and the pain and swelling in my cheek didn't go away for another 2 weeks. went to a new dentist in the city a few years later and he looked at the first xray he took and told me there was a nerve in my cheek from the same tooth dr lynch did the root canal that he suspected would give me trouble at some point (obviously she did not successfully remove the nerve). went to a new dentist recently in florida who had to replace one of her fillings. he asked me if i wanted metal or composite. i told him composite as dr lynch had told me this is what i need. he said ok but casually mentioned that they fall apart easier and is likely why this one needed replacing. i told him a previous dentist had me replace all my metal fillings. he told me it's a common way to rack up business by dentists. so now i'm annoyed at this past work. find another dentist. read more

I went to the office for a semi annual checkup. In my check up 6 months ago the dentist pointed out no problems... but surprisingly I needed lots of fillings redone 6 months later at this office. I was happy with the service.. and honestly how should I know when I'm getting unnecessary service? The real surprise came when I got a bill for my husband and me for a GRAND. I stopped coming to see this dentist last year. Her office was a nightmare to schedule appointments with or modify an existing appointment. No one would answer the phone or return emails. She replaced the majority of her staff before I left. They were far nicer but didn't seem to know what was going on. I was incredibly frustrated when I said that I wanted a retainer for my bottom teeth at three separate appointments, the doctor agreed and then never took molds. But the final straw was at my last appointment when the doctor never even came in to exam my teeth. The hygienist cleaned my teeth and then sent me on my way. read more

I went for a routine check up and cleaning to the doctor's office in December 2010. My experience in the office was generally a good one. But I learned today that they submitted a claim for a full mouth x-ray, when I only had a few bite wings done. Apparently insurance will only pay for a full mouth x-ray once every 3 years. Now that I have moved and want to go to a new dentist, I cannot get a full mouth x-ray done unless I pay out of pocket because Dr. Lynch's office submitted a false claim from 2010 (less than 3 years ago). They have admitted it was a mistake and are working on sending money back to my insurance. But I feel that I was taken advantage of and as a result, my health is what loses out. I would not recommend going here. I feel that they took advantage of me. read more

I am confused by the negative comments! I love going to this office, and have been about 5 times. Dr. Lynch is the NICEST woman and is very personable. She gave me tons of free cleaning supplies for my night guard, as well as a FREE teeth whitening! I've never had a complaint about her work on my teeth, nor have I ever had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen. I have MetLife dental and the payments are pretty average. I was diagnosed with cancer and dental hygiene is very important both before and during chemotherapy treatment. I called Dr. Lynchs office asking if I could see her, and if she had any recommendations before I started treatment. I left a message with the receptionist but never received a call back. I finally called again, stressing the limited time before treatment and that I needed a response. The secretary said she was so sorry and would make sure the doctor got back to me. Once again, never heard back. If giving a simple call back to a patient undergoing cancer treatment is that hard for this practice I want nothing to do with them. Avoid Dr. Lynch for anything but cleanings and fillings. Anything else, you will pay for it in both the short and long run. I have spent thousands on her mistakes and have decided to switch doctors. Very empathetic and shows genuine care towards her patients. Great cleaning, even used numbing cream since I told her I had sensitive teeth. Showed deep concern for my nighttime teeth grinding and had me come back the next day to show her what kind of over the counter night guard I was using. She said what I was using is great for my mouth and teeth and didn't try to sell me or get me to get one made through her. She's very sweet and caring and I highly recommend her. read more

AVOID this dentist!!!! First I went for a cleaning and I needed a little minor work, a couple of fillings. I (and my insurance) was charged for FOURTEEN (14) fillings. In reality, I needed, and received 2 or 3 small, one-surface fillings. This is obviously illegal (insurance fraud). In addition, I got a cap that fell off. I went back to get it fixed, but this time she said I didn't need a cap!!! That's because it was coming out of her pocket! Before she had told me that I needed a crown and a cap would only be a temporary fix. The cap fell off in less than six months and I had to go back for a replacement. I had told them over the phone that I was coming back for a replacement but when I got there, they hadn't ordered one. So now I have a filling and a bad one at that. I get food stuck between my teeth Every single time I eat, which almost NEVER happened before. WORST DENTIST EVER, in my opinion. read more

AVOID THIS DENTIST. You will pay for her poor work down the road. I liked her at first, until I found she does shoddy work and then denies anything is wrong. Went I went to her a few years ago, she said I needed to replace all my old silver fillings, and I agreed. My original fillings were at least 25 years old and I had never had a problem with a single one. ALL the fillings she replaced only two years ago now have to be redone because she did things like drill a channel in the back of the tooth and only partially filled it. At the time, I asked about the groove I could feel, and she said it was fine. it wasn't. A partial crown she put in was such a poor fit, another dentist found the area under the crown was in terrible shape and I had to get a full crown. He was able to show me the gap she had left. I had gone back to Dr Lynch three times asking about the uneven surface, and she waved off all my concerns . Once even saying "you aren't here about that same tooth again are you?" I had to pay $1,400 out of pocket to correct her botched job. When I went to her, I had not had a cavity in 25 years, and no jagged edges on my teeth. I am an oral hygiene fanatic; I brush at least three times a day and floss every day. Because of her poor work, I've had decay around the edges of multiple, shoddily done fillings and one by one each "new" filling is being replaced, and the jagged edges smoothed. Do yourself a big favor and find another dentist. Too bad I cannot enter negative stars. read more

Since I moved, I was looking for a new dentist. I actually went to Dr. Lynch based on a recommendation from someone else who liked her. They did a great job cleaning my teeth, but she advised me that I needed a couple thousand dollars worth of work done. I go to the dentist regulary, have never had a major issue, and my last dentist 6 months prior did not identify anything wrong with my teeth. I declined to get the work done. I went to another dentist in Hoboken 6 months later and she advised I didn't need anything done besides a general cleaning. However, I opted to get the sealants done anyways for a very small fee ($100 worth of work as opposed to $2000). In summary, I don't trust Dr. Lynch. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! I went here twice in a year for regular cleanings when I lived in Hoboken because they took my dental insurance. I had braces as a teen and have a permanent retainer on my bottom teeth, which got a little loose in one spot. I went here so they could put more cement on it and they apparently used too much cement and antiquated wire (learned this from my new dentist). I moved 9 months ago out of Hoboken but they had me down for a cleaning a couple of months ago and when I didn't show up they sent a bill for full xrays, cleaning and exam to my dental insurance company instead of canceling my appointment. Now I can't get another cleaning for another 6 months (dental plan allows a cleaning per every 6 months) which means I am going a year without a cleaning! When I learned what they did (from new dentist who luckily called my insurance co. to make sure I was covered before my cleaning appointment), I called this dentist and it is now 2 weeks later and they still have not sent the corrected documentation to my insurance plan. So, overall, they commit insurance fraud AND they don't do quality dental work! Stay away from this dentist!!! read more

Don't go there!!! I had 4 crowns made by Dr. Lynch, two of which broke several times. The only reason I went back was because she did not agree to give me my money back, so I needed to have it fixed over and over again. She had to re-do this one particular crown 5 times. In the end she lowered the tooth on the opposite jaw just to make it work. The gums under these crowns never healed, I am still in pain 2 years later. Meanwhile I moved to California and the crown broke again just 1 year after it was made. Hence on top of all the hassle I also lost 2,400 USD. Horrible experience for both me and my wife. I had the same experience as the other folks that posted. I went in for a check-up and all of a sudden I see a bill for a bunch of things I did not need. This was not as bad as the fact that they also did a really lousy job with my wife's filling which ended up in an emergency root canal. AWFUL! My husband and I went to see this dentist and we both had terrible experiences. I went in for a checkup, and since I had not been to the dentist for a while, I expected to have a few small cavities. The doctor and the hygienists referred to me in the third person while I was in the chair. I then asked the doctor how many cavities I had or what work I needed done. The doctor said that she could not say and said that she would come up with a treatment plan. Imagine my surprise when I got an estimate for 14 fillings! I think she was just trying to see where my insurance maxed out. Needless to say, I did not go back. My husband had a similar bad experience. Dr. Lynch decided that he needed a crown and decided to do that work without even asking him. Of course, no one checked with his insurance to see if it was covered (it wasn't), so we had to pay $800 out of pocket. The insult to injury is that my husband's new dentist didn't think a crown was even necessary (and now has to be redone because the work was so poor). They also have poor follow-through. We have both asked for our dental records from their office a number of times and neither of us have yet to receive anything. Avoid this dentist if you value your teeth! read more

All I can say is DON'T GO TO THIS DENTIST. If I could have given her a lesser rating I would have. I developed a tooth ache and my regular dentist was out of town. A friend recommended Dr. Lynch. I thought it would be fine based on her recommendation. Shame on me for not reading the reviews on Yelp. I would have certainly made a different choice had I seen these prior to my appointment. I did not want to spend the weekend in pain so I made the appointment. When I arrived her staff was ambivalent at best. After waiting for over a 1/2 hour I was shuffled from room to room. I would assume that was due to the fact that only one room had equipment that actually worked. The other rooms were in desperate need of an overhaul. I explained why I was there and she took some x-rays and performed a gingival flap procedure. I was told I would be a bit sore and to take Advil and come back in 2 weeks. By the end of that evening I was in excruciating pain. I called her office and I got an answering machine. She did not have a service so there was no way to contact or page her as an emergency. I waited and waited. I thought for sure she has to check her machine!! Nope, I called again and still no return call. REALLY???!!! In this day and age of gadgetry you don't check to see if a patient needs assistance. GET A SERVICE!!! I finally got a call at 9:30 am Monday. I assume that is when her office opened and her staff checked messages. I was not at home to take the call. By this time I had to seek out Qualified help. I have been to very good dentists and she is NOT one of them. How my friend could have recommended her I am still not sure and I told her so. Based on the other reviews here, only 1 thinks she is worth the degree she received. Do yourself a favor and find someone other than Dr. Lynch. If this review dissuades even 1 person from going to this dentist, then the time spent writing it will be worth it. read more

Bad experience with their office. I went to Dr. Lynch for well over a year. Sometimes there was a longer than normal wait [about an hour] but I figured it is what it is. So one night Dr. Lynch was filling a cavity - she made a comment and said it was really deep and she hoped she didn't have to do a root canal. Luckily everything was fine - it was nothing more than a deep cavity - she filled it, billed me for the cavity - I paid my part and went home. Then I got a letter from them billing me for the rest of my "root canal". I called the office & Dr. Lynch told me herself they'd had a glitch with their computers and sent out the wrong letter but they 100% had NOT billed my insurance inaccurately and to disregard the bill. My insurance then sent me a letter two weeks later to let me know I'd hit my maximum due to the root canal Dr. Lynch's office had billed my insurance... The whole thing was a mess...I was completely lied to by Dr. Lynch and her office which is a real shame as the office is so close to our apartment. Beware of inaccurate billing. read more

Genuinely do yourself a favor and go to ANY other dentist. As other reviewers have mentioned, the office itself is in a general state of dishevelment and seems relatively unclean. However, Dr. Lynch herself is really an atrocious dentist. Firstly, the filling of 3 cavities necessitated 5 Novocain shots since they didn't place the shots appropriately and/or didn't give appropriate dosage. Again, this was a large number of fillings but probably the most routine type of procedure any dentist does (other than cleanings). However, Dr. Lynch stumbled through the procedure with little regard to comfort. Moreover, thereafterI realized the filling had been done such that it actually connected the back two molars rendering me unable to floss. When I called to see if the filling could be shaved down so that I was able to floss, I was told this was completely normal and over 'months or years' this would correct itself. When I persisted and said the inability to floss was disconcerting to me, I was belittled. Horrible, horrible dentist. read more
