Alicia was really patient, even enthusiastic, about helping me find exactly the blinds I wanted. The color selection wasn't fabulous enough for my taste, but it's the manufacturers who decide that, not The Blind Store. My previous experience with McCrorie's blinds, back when blinds were out of the flooring store, wasn't great. It clearly wasn't where their focus was, and the installers were condescending to me. Alicia has focus on and passion for blinds, and Gary was a great installer. He had to finagle a bit to make the corner work, but he kept at it until he got it perfect. He was friendly and didn't treat me like I must be ignorant. Full disclosure, the blinds cost an arm and a leg, but custom light-blocking blinds that cover that much space and are top-down bottom-up, are going to cost an arm and a leg no matter where you get them.

Everyone at The Blind Store was both professional and easy to work with. One of the shutters was over our kitchen sink and was a difficult fit. Farah did a great job of coordinating everything and keeping us informed on where we were in the process. The items are high quality, and I feel were a good value for the money. Highly recommended.

Since then, Linda & Ed Bauer have given special attention to every room in our house, one way or another, bar none. This includes beautiful draperies in the dining room and very special draperies in one of the bedrooms. The latter are "re-purposed" purple velour which was removed from the Port Angeles Elks Ballroom when it was remodeled (Bauer Interiors did their new draperies). Everyone that sees them is totally impressed. Bauer's are responsible for Venetian blinds throughout the house. When one of them malfunctions, which is not often, Ed is always there to adjust it. I can't imagine anyone ever being disappointed with the treatment they get at Bauer Interiors...neither Linda nor Ed would allow it! Highly recommended!

Why were they in the book? While we did get a quote on a less preferred brand that at least had a few fabrics we liked reasonably well, being the picky type, we finally decided to go elsewhere. I have no problem recommending Budget Blinds. My spouse and I just didn't feel like continuing on to ordering after the disappointing issues with an out of date sample catalogue. I think they need to do a better job with their communications and customer service. Their estimator really tried though to make us happy.

Unfortunately, the roof began to leak, and I contacted this business because they were #1 for the local area on Yelp and had good reviews. I called on Sunday and they returned my call on Tuesday. I understand that they were delayed in calling me back because they were busy. The woman on the phone was friendly and verified that they can do repairs on mobile home roofs, so we set up an appointment to meet sometime that Thursday. I advised them that I did not live over there currently, and would have to come from Seattle to meet him that day. I had to plan to work virtually from the mobile home Thursday and therefore, go over Wednesday night on the ferry, because I start work early in the morning. He contacted me and told me that he was on his way from Port Angeles late Thursday morning. Unfortunately, he would arrive right before I had to host a virtual meeting, but I thought we had enough time. He arrived and he looked at the leaking area inside and went up to look on the roof. He came back down a few minutes later and we tried to talk about what the plan was, but I had to start hosting my meeting immediately and we could not finish. He said he'd call me so we could finish the conversation to talk about options. That was Thursday at lunch time. Two voicemails from me and 3 days later, still nothing from him to "follow up" on our conversation about potential options. Yeah, I understand busy, but come on- blowing me off like that? You've had enough time to give a quick phone call. That's just unprofessional. But what really ticks me off is that he also knew that I had to make a special trip to come over and meet him there (including the expense of the ferry back and forth) just to meet him for this appointment! I do NOT recommend this business. It seems like he is potentially *only* interested in big ticket/contract business. He does not charge an hourly rate and will only bill by project. He told me that he was one of the only contractors approved to apply a certain type of roof membrane for a complete roof replacement, etc. , etc. Yeah, whatever. * * * Summary on this guy: * * * NOPE * * *- you might want to read up on simple business etiquette if you want to keep your business, young sir. Even if you don' t want to do the job, at least say that it doesn't fit out of respect for people's time. We went into Smoke 'Em Out Window Tinting to see about getting those two windows tinted in the same shade as the back ones so that all the side windows would look the same. It was really important to us that the front windows and the rear windows matched perfectly. We talked to John Phegley, Smoke 'Em Out's owner, and discussed our options. He was upfront and honest about the fact that he could get things pretty close, but because of the particular shading that Toyota uses on it's 4Runners, he'd be unable to get things to match perfectly. He could have easily just done what so many other places would have done and installed the tint he had and hope for the best, that we'd be satisfied with it, but he didn't. He turned us away. He wanted us to be happy and he knew, that given our needs, that he couldn't do what we wanted him to do. My wife and I came away deeply impressed by Mr. Phegley's honesty and integrity. He's an old school perfectionist who will not settle for a substandard job. He'll either do it perfectly, or he won't do it at all. This is a refreshing attitude in this day and age. Smoke "Em Out Window Tinting is a small local business run by an honest, ethical, hardworking guy. We recommend him for all your auto tinting needs. UPDATE: 04/10/17 We're starting to see some blemishes/flaws in a couple of different places on the side windows. We also discovered some scratches on the plastic trim by the rear window. This company removes the windows to tint them so that you don't see the line where the tint stops and this area was apparently damaged during the installation process.
