If you're looking for a typical mall experience on steroids, the Florida Mall is the way to go…read more I've never disliked this mall, but it definitely has a different feel than other local shopping centers. It is filled with tourists due to the connected hotel and proximity to the airport, so even on a Tuesday it felt packed in here. The layout feels almost like a labyrinth but there is a lot of signage on where to go. Most of the stores are ones you can find at most malls, but there are quite a bit of 'unique' stores as well. You've also got the Crayola experience, which is pretty large. While this mall wouldn't be my first choice to go to, it does do the trick if you're needing your fix of big name stores.

Visited The Florida Mall again for Xmas in July. Really love this event…read more They had some free samples like chocolates and churros and soap making and face painting and free Santa pics and some other pic OPPs. Last year we went and they had Christmas flamingos. They had more this year. They also passed out Christmas bags with Simon mall logo on them. I would be back for this event. My issue with The Florida Mall is that the A/C doesn't work well. It's a huge mall with tons of shops and tons of people walking around. They are so busy. We were looking for stores with the best A/C bc we couldn't really beat the heat here. Primark has the best A/C. Along with Armani Exchange, Ghirardelli bc of their chocolates, and The TNS Store. I wish I could have stayed longer but the lack of A/C made me want to leave. I very much loved the Xmas in July Event and Santa, Mrs. Claus, the elves, the photographer, and the other people working were so nice. The AC is sure lacking and this was the issue last year. Perhaps the big space, older mall and open ceiling exposing the sunshine sure doesn't help. This is a very popular mall. It could def be better here.

Overall, it was fun, we and our son had a great time. This hotel is a budget hotel. Check-in to the hotel was easy and the desk person was kind and helpful. Getting our park passes and information from the park pass desk, was almost the opposite. She got us our passes and vouchers, yes, but did not provide details we didn't know existed, like where to go for our early entry breakfast at Three Cauldrons as the park is not open for early entry... Honestly, with the level of service from the pass desk, we would have been better off if the passes were mailed or emailed to us instead, with detailed instructions. The hotel isn't bad, but every night was noisy after 11pm. It seems like the hotel just is not insulated well. The worst part, I don't think they clean the floors in the rooms. Ours was incredibly dirty, making the bottom of our socks black'ish. Also, poorly maintained as some of our lights did not work, making the room fairly dark when trying to get ready in the mornings. Lastly, they say the Universal shuttle bus arrives about every 10 minutes, but this is also not true. Multiple occasions it was closer to 30 minutes with a couple times being over 45 minutes. I will say that Surfside has the way shorter line. However, there were times where the bus wouldn't go to Surfside unless there were passengers still on it after dropping off at Dockside. Overall, Universal has created this preferred hotel, shuttle bus situation and IMO, they do not do it well. All they need to do is provide clean rooms and timely transportation. -Maybe toss in an informative pass desk representative. We'll skip Universal Orlando from here on out. It's A LOT of money and the hotel and concierge experience just falls flat.

I was a regular at Brio Italian Grille, they are no longer there. After 20+ years they closed their flagship location at Millenia. I was bummed because I wanted to have dinner there. The food court has lots of options for good food, fast and not so fast too. Plenty of parking even though it can get crowded. I usually go there when I need to get a specific item. The place itself is clean, I liked that they're not the usually kiosks or sales people trying to sell you things, that's a plus for me when it comes to choosing a mall. I have some places that I like to go there for food, like the Cheesecake Factory and PF Changs. My daughter likes that there's a Claire's, and all the other Claire's around that we know are now closed. They have unique places when it comes to luxury brands, plenty of parking, but in peak season time can get difficult to find a parking close to the entrance. I go sometimes, and meet friends since it's near the touristic/universal studios area. They also have a big Apple store, that occasionally visit.

The staff are always knowledgeable and offer to ask if you need any information on your parks or other travel. We've stayed here with children at ages 1-4 and it's very family friendly. The restaurants have great food if you decide to eat on site. This time we realized we left our pack n play at home, which was supposed to be the bed for our youngest. The check in staff were very accommodating and had one added to our room, and there is no charge for this. To our surprise it was an Uppababy, extremely comfortable and easy to maneuver/move around. The rooms are always very clean and spacious, the beds, pillows, and sheets are comfortable. There is a decent size mini refrigerator, keurig machine, and large tv. For convenience you can ride your stroller onto a ferry boat to travel to City Walk with no hassle or walk to Volcano Bay. Definitely a great convenient stay.

Staff were super friendly. Only issue? My room was literally the second to last room on the opposite end of the water taxis. I would probably ask to avoid that in the future. Sometimes I didn't go and get something I wanted from the lobby purely because of the travel time. The pool is very lively. Honestly, a solo adult, a bit too lively for me. But if you are traveling with kids, they will have a great ol' time and probably even make friends! I really liked the water taxi set up. There were adirondack chairs in the shade before the loading pier with a nice view of the bay and mini man-made Sapphire falls. At a great price, I would definitely do the lagoon view again!
