There is no shade. But we were able to utilize the service plaza while waiting, which included a Panera, Dunkin, convenience store, McDonald's and some very busy restrooms. This pretty much means that it anytime you can shop here and there could be a Ford 150 parked and the electric vehicle charging lot because there's no green marking or anything on the ground indicating that it's an electric vehicle charger and of course that would need to be obvious for the residence of Darien! There's food shopping and other things available within walking distance so in that regard it's actually a really good charging station especially since it's a DC fast charger. Oh did I mention you could easily be in the parking lot and watch wild turkeys go by two so there's some nice wildlife as well.
