First, all the staff and tour guides were really cool and very informative. They were even nice enough to hold some stuff for us when we wanted to purchase some souvenirs, and no one was around. There were a lot of places you can explore and enjoy a national historical park. This was stated from back in the civil war, and you can go into many of the buildings that had information on what occurred along with machinery from that time. There were many information signs around you can read while walking around. Along with this, there were really nice views and trails that you can take, including the Appalachian Trail, which I really loved. They also have nice restaurants and snack areas you can sit and enjoy. It can be pricy but worth it as the places I tried were good. I didn't get a chance to explore everything here, but I absolutely plan to come back to finish the trails and explore more. It's definitely a must do if you come to West Virginia!

Many of the original buildings were turned into exhibition halls. Some were turned into commercial businesses such as restaurants and gift shops. One important building still standing was the one John Brown and his men took their last stand against the US army. The family and I enjoyed exploring this town under perfect weather. Parking inside the town was limited and not free. Offsite parking with shuttle service was available for a low cost.

Awesome hand lotions, hair perfumes, Turkish towels (I got a great grape [okay, just plain purple] and pink one that's got teal on the other side -- just beautiful and so soft, ooh, what luxury! Turkish towels are awesome because they take up less space and dry far more quickly than other, thicker towels, so of course they end up both smelling much better and being a lot more hygienic. The orange-scented hand lotion is super-luxe, too, with a rich creamy feel and excellent scent. I got the amber hair perfume. The rugs are really nice, with just enough texture balanced together with softness and sturdiness all together in one piece -- and there is an amazing selection of different colours of these area rugs available, all rolled up nicely in a cool basket. Speaking of baskets, they've got them! The baskets have a real beachy vibe and would be perfect for a day (or a week, or more!) at the beach. They're real sturdy and stand up well on their own, unlike some other floppier baskets or of course beach bags out there .... The baskets are also really good for shopping, too. There are cookbooks, fun cooking and cleaning supplies such as the never-before-seen-by-me ravioli-shaped sponges and oh-so-many things to explore, I wouldn't want to ruin it for you by telling you more! The person I encountered was super-helpful, friendly, nice, accommodating, etc. The parking is plentiful (At least it was when I was there.), and if you like pretty, flowery things, there is also a lovely gardening center just steps away ... plus lots of other stuff nearby to explore in Kensington! Very glad I stopped by! Only thing is: it's closed on Mondays. Oh, and I love the name, too! Olive & Loom -- even the name has texture and beauty in it .... A very 'Yay' type of find, indeed! Just lovely. :-)

It's full of curated artsy and rustic decor and household goods, jams, teas, clothing, and a very imaginative selection of toys and trinkets. The building is divided into multiple rooms, one of which includes a fireplace with books and rocking chairs. Another resembles a second-hand clothing store, and the last is a mini-hardware shop. The store boasts a delightful collection of old-fashioned trinkets. Along the shelves are everything from old-fashioned toys, to glass cookware and vinyl records. The location is also home to a working blacksmith shop in case your horse needs a new pair of shoes. I loved the display of Raggedy Anns and Raggedy Andy. I still have my Raggedy Ann from many, many years ago. She's in a cedar box now to keep her safe with my other memories from growing up. I'd be worried about one of the doggies getting her now. I would be surprised if you did not find something here to purchase. [Review 15608 overall - 60 in West Virginia - 1112 of 2021.]
