Their candles are soy based and have a wooden wick so it's not toxic for you compared to other candle brands. There is a smell for everyone; they have floral smells, sweet smells, fresh scents, and they even had Halloween scents. We've been loyal customers for over 12 years and have always appreciated the charm and warmth your store offers. Unfortunately, this visit was quite the opposite. My husband--just a week out from emergency surgery--was on his first short outing. We were both wearing masks for medical reasons. While that shouldn't matter, the staff member behind the register treated us with clear hostility from the moment we walked in. I greeted her politely, but she responded with an eye roll and a visibly unwelcoming attitude after looking at my mask first. That is ableism. Before my husband even entered the store, she abruptly and rudely asked, "Um, is that a service dog?" I answered honestly that our dog was not. Rather than calmly explaining store policy, she became increasingly short and vague. When I asked for clarification--since we've previously visited with our dog after receiving permission--she abruptly mentioned the health department had "just been in," and seemed flustered when it became clear we were unaware of any new policy. The tone throughout was dismissive, confrontational, and deeply unprofessional. Others in the store appeared just as surprised. It wasn't just about the dog; it felt discriminatory and ableist. We were simply trying to enjoy a brief outing and pick up a gift, but left feeling disrespected and unwelcome. This experience does not reflect the Shepherdstown community or the reputation your store has built over the years. Thank you for taking the time to read this. The whole thing honestly could take you 15 mins. You can either wait 2 hours to pick it up or pick it up on another day. It's a cute candle with a lovely scent but unsure if it's worth the $40 overall. Of note, when I picked up my candle it looked cracked and the wax was all over the wick. Unsure if it got jostled when it was being set out to dry.

In addition, we have a selection of over 100 tumbled stones, incense, oils, herbs, sterling silver jewelry, books, journals, faeries, figurines, wall hangings, tapestries, wind chimes, hoodoo kits, holy water, note cards, art prints, artist embellished prints, stickers, swords, athames, tarot cards, angel cards, bags & more!" and "We offer tarot readings, angel card readings, astrology charts, and animal communication readings. These are available by walk-in or appointments." It's a cozy shop with ALL THE THINGS! I was browsing all the different items, there are really so many... and so much that I've never seen elsewhere! Very unique and niche. There are different 'walking altars' around the shop for different things. I asked a worker about this, and she explained to me the different purposes for them. I thought that was pretty cool. I decided to ask the staff for recommendations for a gift to a coworker. They expertly suggested to me different things that had different purposes and explained them to me. They were so knowledgeable! I decided on a door hanger made of selenite and black tourmaline crystals. This offered protection, grounding, and balance. They also explained that selenite is a softer stone and to avoid getting it wet as water could break it down. Something I would've never known! I included that information with my gift. Thanks to the awesome staff for helping me with my purchase! They also had a spinning display with different cards. The one that said "Kind People Are The Best Kind Of People" really spoke to me, so I got that to include with my gift. I like that it's a one stop shop for all your needs :) Will definitely return here when I'm in the area!
