As I progress, so does she; her bag of tools appears to be bottomless. I have been seeking psychiatric care since I was a young teen and have seen both psychiatrists and psychologists, and I can say with confidence that Barbara, as a Clinical Social Worker is superior by all measures in actually helping to provide the tools to navigate through daily life and relationships, and not just provide some framing diagnosis that ultimately becomes the enabling factor that allows for continued unwanted thought processes and behaviors. She has never failed to deliver! I'm not sure how she has the strength to work from the wee hours of the morning until late at night. She must have some type of super-human emotional/physical power, as I feel like she too, feels the pain of her patients. I have referred her to several friends in need of help, and all of them feel the same way about her work. It's like some secret sisterhood when one of us references 'Barbara'. In fact, I came to Barbara, because of a recommendation from my now husband's referral. Barbara is extremely professional, punctual, on task and result oriented. I began seeing her for treatment of depression. She immediately took me off of two drugs that I had been on, while I was unsure that it was wise to withdraw these medications, I trusted her medical opinion. She indicated that she hoped to soon have me off all meds but I refused to let her remove my base anti depressant. The withdrawal of medication by Dr. Amalathas sent me into a major depressive episode. It was the worst I had ever experienced before. When I went to see her during this crisis she indicated that she learned from my therapist that I occasionally smoked marijuana and that she refused to treat me any further as a result. Being bailed on my her during a time of complete crisis made me angry and left me feeling incredibly abandoned and without hope. I do not believe any doctor, such as a psychiatrist, who has such direct control over those at risk of taking their own life should completely abandon their patient at such a time of crisis. She is of course entitled to her own policies however, if you do decide to treat with her, I would recommend keeping your mouth shut about anything that she may find personally offensive. Specifically if you smoke marijuana, as many of us do - medicinally or otherwise- absolutely keep that to yourself. I am now struggling to find a new doctor after learning that Dr. Amalathas is not one that can be counted on. Your life is too valuable to be trusted to the hands of Dr. Amalathas. I am both lucky and blessed to have had a solid support system around me after being abandoned by her. I truly believe that she put my life at direct risk.

She showed me how I was self medicating through extreme exercise and obscene amounts of caffeine. She prescribed one drug, very low dosage and non-addictive and it cured those dark winter thoughts. It also gave me some respite from my ADD though I rely more on the exercise and caffeine. Went off SAD drug for summer with no problems except increased ADD symptoms (not finishing tasks before jumping into others).

He also has a great eye for kids who are younger and seem difficult but are displaying some type of learning disorder which doesn't manifest itself as such but more of a social behavior issue. I've known now 3 different kids who have seen him and each one is diagnosed differently and treated very differently, but all are helped. Unlike other doctor's, he knows his psychology and doesn't use the same labels everyone else does or isn't a serial ADD or BPD diagnosis doctor who sees all the same. He is really amazing in those skills. His office is a kid's dream come true with a variety of toys for all ages, including a sandbox, and he engages however the child needs. He is so personable and supportive. I don't think I've ever felt judgement in anything I've said, and I am sure I do a lot wrong as a mother, but he just coaches in a very positive way. He's is soft and sensitive with women, and first and not intimidating to guys but helps them deal with agression or suppression of such. The school counselors are very happy to have him our area, they say he is one of the best.

After two almost three years in there addiction program i disappeared for a month and Lucinda went above and beyond to track me down check inn and invite me back into the program. They both care very much about me my well being and my family. I've never had to feel ashamed and she had always worked with my dentist and other drs and explained to them about the program especially when other drs treated me less than respectful for my past. When i wanted to know about breastfeeding my son she was knowledgeable looked into study's and then spoke with the lactation specialists at the hospital. I'm very grateful for the hard work and years of service they've put into or community and most of all for treating me like a person with respect that i deserve.

Was doing great in my program the whole time and she seemed like a decent, helpful doctor but she would only see me for Suboxone so I used a primary doctor for other issues.. The last few months in her program I started developing severe anxiety which caused me to have to go to the ER about 10 times in the middle of the night, I saw my primary doc for it eventually and was diagnosed with severe panic disorder. Being on Suboxone the pharmacy had to check with her for every script I was written, well needless to say she would not allow the pharmacy to fill anything stating to me that she did not like my primary doc and didn't even know how he got a med license yet she refused to treat me for it.. About a month ago she gave me something for anxiety finally, actually 2 things, vistoril and Paxil and she said if that didn't work she would try something different at my next appointment, well they didn't work. I had blackout episodes on them where I would be awake at night doing things that I had no memory of the next day, also within the last few months she took me from the dose of Suboxone I was on for a long time and comfortable on and began dropping it for no reason so when I went to my last appointment she out of nowhere just dropped me as a patient. She gave me 1 last script of Suboxone.. 30 8mg's when I was on 45 8mg's and anyone who knows this med knows that's a HUGE drop so now I have basically 2 weeks of meds and no doc and Sub docs are VERY hard to find because they need special seperate training to prescribe it. The other thing I found out while searching for a new doc was that she did take my insurance when she told me she didn't and made me pay cash the entire 2 1/2 years I saw her which is illegal. If I withdrawal from this med it can last a month or more so just stopping isn't an option. She left me in a very bad spot plus took a lot of my money illegally.. I'm thinking of reporting her for the money thing so no one else has to go through that.. I thought doctors were supposed to help and treat with care and compassion.. Guess this doctor missed that part of training. I would NOT recommend this doctor to my worst enemy and she definitely should be stopped from the illegal stuff she does. Definitely taught me a lesson about trusting doctors, she forever changed my views on the medical field.. I feel all it's about is money and how much they can get. Her husband shares her practice with her, I don't know him but know he runs his Suboxone program the same. Don't walk, RUN from this office.. Located in Kerhonkson NY.

She has belittled us on more than one occasion. It takes multiple reminders to get prescriptions refilled. Sometimes the wrong doses are refilled. On both occasions of blood work, she made errors and forgot to add the most important blood test. She will not share information like requests for bloodwork without asking for an appointment to be booked. Why do I need to book an appointment to get a copy of bloodwork from months ago? We have been pressured into booking excessive unnecessary appoints. She also said she is no longer allowed to write scripts for bloodwork and to ask the primary doctor for it. Primary doctor says this makes no sense.
