The front office handles scheduling, billing, medical insurance, all you have to do is relax and let the therapists do their jobs; which they do quite well. The therapists call you in at your appointed time and immediately you're doing something or receiving some sort of treatment, constantly. They don't waste your time. I've been at other Physical Therapy businesses and there were times when i was sitting around for long periods before the next modality. Watching the clock as they wasted my time and money. When I had a follow up with the prescribing physician I'd let them know my time is valuable and I would not be going back to that place. If they couldn't suggest another therapist I'd find another doctor. I don't entertain fools. This place does well because of these factors: efficient operations, competent therapists, and feed back to the prescribing physicians. I have been seeking psychiatric care since I was a young teen and have seen both psychiatrists and psychologists, and I can say with confidence that Barbara, as a Clinical Social Worker is superior by all measures in actually helping to provide the tools to navigate through daily life and relationships, and not just provide some framing diagnosis that ultimately becomes the enabling factor that allows for continued unwanted thought processes and behaviors. She has never failed to deliver! I'm not sure how she has the strength to work from the wee hours of the morning until late at night. She must have some type of super-human emotional/physical power, as I feel like she too, feels the pain of her patients. Stay away from their palliative program, after doing an intake, being a palliative program patient…read morenow for several years with a dr who is retiring, this program just ghosted me and left me hanging. They do not return calls as promised, and are not equipped to be doing palliative care outside of the hospice work they do. Their nurses know better than The Hospital For Special Surgery, neurology at Westchester Med, my present palliative/hospice Dr and my primary Dr and deemed me not a palliative patient, but...the problem was they refused to call and tell me! They just ghosted me. Very cruel and unprofessional practice. The public needs to be warned about their palliative program they started, it is cruel in the way it practices. Public, be warned.

I came to Lagrange PT for treatment for shoulder impingement syndrome. At LaGrange the whole staff works on you, but in a unified way; this means they pool their knowledge, find different ways to explain recovery plans, and consult with each other on the best exercises. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and took the time to answer my questions. The facility is modern and sunny, with private examination rooms and plenty of up to date equipment. They use a whole range of techniques on me (stim, ultrasound, bands, machines, and manual therapy) which is exactly what I wanted because it made me feel like we were trying everything to rehab my injury. After six visits (the max my insurance approves) I had made significant progress.

I began seeing her for treatment of depression. She immediately took me off of two drugs that I had been on, while I was unsure that it was wise to withdraw these medications, I trusted her medical opinion. She indicated that she hoped to soon have me off all meds but I refused to let her remove my base anti depressant. The withdrawal of medication by Dr. Amalathas sent me into a major depressive episode. It was the worst I had ever experienced before. When I went to see her during this crisis she indicated that she learned from my therapist that I occasionally smoked marijuana and that she refused to treat me any further as a result. Being bailed on my her during a time of complete crisis made me angry and left me feeling incredibly abandoned and without hope. I do not believe any doctor, such as a psychiatrist, who has such direct control over those at risk of taking their own life should completely abandon their patient at such a time of crisis. She is of course entitled to her own policies however, if you do decide to treat with her, I would recommend keeping your mouth shut about anything that she may find personally offensive. Specifically if you smoke marijuana, as many of us do - medicinally or otherwise- absolutely keep that to yourself. I am now struggling to find a new doctor after learning that Dr. Amalathas is not one that can be counted on. Your life is too valuable to be trusted to the hands of Dr. Amalathas. I am both lucky and blessed to have had a solid support system around me after being abandoned by her. I truly believe that she put my life at direct risk.

She showed me how I was self medicating through extreme exercise and obscene amounts of caffeine. She prescribed one drug, very low dosage and non-addictive and it cured those dark winter thoughts. It also gave me some respite from my ADD though I rely more on the exercise and caffeine. Went off SAD drug for summer with no problems except increased ADD symptoms (not finishing tasks before jumping into others).

I was told they accepted my insurance and that the back office would confirm my coverage. Ten days later -- after repeated follow-ups on my part -- I was finally told I'd be responsible for my co-pay plus balance. When I checked directly with my insurance carrier, I learned MOST is out of network. This should have been communicated from the very beginning. Instead, I lost 10 days waiting in pain for treatment I couldn't even receive under my plan. Patients deserve honesty and transparency about insurance coverage up front. Very disappointed.
