I'm from philly and this place sucks. Cheesesteaks have no taste. Eat the fries and pass on the subs. I will never return

Service and food was great. Most impressive is the young lady at the register, Ashley. Every free second she is cleaning. Thank you!

I was really looking forward to eating at Magnolia's Cafe after getting some recommendations from…read morefriends. Came here with my wife and my parents to celebrate my mother's birthday. Unfortunately, Magnolia's fell short of my expectations. The brunch at Magnolia's has potential, but the service really let it down. Our server was inattentive to our needs and did not know the menu well. To make matters worse, my wife's order came out completely wrong even though she was very clear about what she wanted. I had the chilaquiles verdes, which were okay but not anything special. Based on the items in the menu, the restaurant seems to not know its identity. is this a Mexican restaurant or American brunch? The overall experience was underwhelming.

I was in town for business and on the recommendation of a co-worker came for a late supper. The…read morerestaurant wasn't busy at the hour I visited but I am told that it is crowded for breakfast and lunch. The waitress was quick to bring the menus which included an all day brunch menu or a dinner menu. I opted for the dinner menu though there were a lot of tasty looking brunch options. Drinks were quick to follow and calamari was ordered as an appetizer and the chicken piccata was calling my name. We didn't wait long for the calamari which were huge rings fried well with a fantastic marinara dip accompanying. My work partner ordered tortilla soup which looked and smelled wonderful and which he enjoyed. I have had my share of chicken piccata. It's one of my favorite dishes. I have eaten it around the country and across several European countries in well established restaurants. The chicken piccata created here is the absolute best I have ever eaten. The sauce was perfectly thickened with just the right acid levels. Not too many capers. The chicken was moist on the inside and crisp on the outside. Served over house mashed potatoes with grilled asparagus. The serving size was perfect and I was perfectly satisfied with the amount. Let me reiterate. The chicken piccata here is better than I have ever had anywhere. The chef, who we met, is humble and talented. We presented us a tasting of a smoked brisket that he will be serving at another of his restaurants in town. The smoke ring was visible in the slice, the meat was absolutely tender and moist and the flavor explodes. I hope he also decides to offer it at this location too. $35 plus tax and tip for a deliciously cooked meal that I will remember. I will make the drive when I am close to Laredo to eat here again. Everything from service, food, ambiance - Magnolia Cafe & Grill has it. Try it. You'll be pleasantly surprised. I was.

I made a trip up to Laredo on business so decided to give my brother a call while I was in town…read more When I got to the house he said let's go to Cheddars so here we go about 1:00pm. This was my first time in a Cheddars so when we checked in I remember saying to my brother "this place is nice!" The hostess sat us down, waiter came along and got our drink order so I went with raspberry tea. When the tea got there it was warm with very little ice. Ok no big deal, I was thirsty. I ordered the sirloin steak with rib rack, same as my brother. Spinach dip for the appetizer. Got the house salad, tasted great, plated nice. Appetizer got there with chips and I tore into it, good flavor but wait .. is that hair? Expand on the photos! I've seen hair before.. just 1 strand. But 2? One on the chip side and another on the other side of the plate. What ruined it for me was the type of hair.. manager was notified by the waiter and he came over to apologize and let us know he will remove it from the bill. The sirloin was small and well done, I ordered medium. Ribs were ok, I took them to go after I ate the sirloin. I think the hair incident ruined it for me, my brother likes Cheddars so I can't say it's a one star, it was my first time. This may be an isolated incident, but how? Shouldn't cooks wear a hair net? Or do the cooks there wear muscle shirts? Where did these hairs come from?

While delivering our drinks, our waitress (Annai) had an accident; she dropped the glasses onto the…read moretable, and since they were made of glass, they shattered, sending shards flying across the entire surface. She offered to replace only 3 of the 8 dishes we had ordered, without considering whether any glass fragments might have landed on the others. Furthermore, she told us that one of the two managers would come over to our table, but no one ever approached us. Her excuse was that they were busy, yet there were only three other occupied tables in the entire restaurant. We waited for over half an hour for someone to come by, but in the end, only the waitress returned--this time to tell us that they would give us a "discount" for what had happened, even though, honestly, I don't think we should have had to pay anything at all. My family felt that we were being discriminated against from the moment we arrived; for instance, they seated us at a small table despite there being 8 of us (and larger, unoccupied tables available), and because we were speaking Spanish, they did not treat the incident with the seriousness it deserved. We will never return, and I hope no other family ever receives the kind of treatment we did.
