terrible. unprofessional and unorganized. they are a small bank so their "partner branches" do nothing. do NOT bank here. their app is not modern, has glitches, is slow and they can not compete with bigger banks. they tell you about their perks or that you can deposit cash anywhere and its not true. not to mention the staff is all over the place, it takes them forever to communicate. they do not dispute fraud!!! I sent them screenshots and pdfs and they still wanted me to send more proof to get my money back. even having a loan here you have to pay a fee everytime or you have to zelle the payment which is sketchy. read more

Was a member of the credit union since 1995 I left $200 in a savings account . I did not use this CU since a loan I had in 2020 but in 2022 they started charging me $6 a month in service fees for a checking account slowing siphoning off my $200 in my savings to a negative balance, it wasn't until I hit -$1 that I was made aware that this was happening, and in some ways I am glad I did because I was able to close my account immediately. This CU never had fees for membership for years at some point they changed their policy owners or whoever. Pretty much need to change your name from credit union to Bank. Looking at reviews it seems Im not the only one, also your employees seem to not really care with there blasé response of ummhmm to every comment. If the service here is no better than an average bank whats the point of using your institution? You are a service industry we our your customers. You guys are doing your old loyal members a disservice congratulations in treating them like you do you managed to get the result of a and I am glad I got out of your shenanigans. read more

TBCU isn't my favorite bank and I regret letting them finance my auto loan. It's as if they try to make it difficult to work with them. The employees are nice and courteous, but the policies of the institution are outdated and difficult from the customers point of view. Long long long hold times on the phone. The recording keep stating that it is a 7 minute wait time. I have been on hold for 12 minutes I have heard the recording 6 times. Seriously?? They charge me $5.00 every time I make a car payment. It called a convenience fee. I am being charge $5.00 for making a payment on their APP. It is not a convenience to pay online in 2025, it is just about required. It is shady and unrealistic to charge this to members. Imagine how much money they are making just on "convenience fees!" This is a credit union and should be taking better care of their members. I guess it is time to refinance my vehicle with a credit union that actually cares about it members and wont charge me $5.00 for simple trying to make my car payment. I am writing to formally file a serious complaint regarding the gross negligence, lack of accountability, and complete failure of service at Texas Bay under the management of Miss Sylvia. The repeated mistakes, refusal to address urgent matters, and utter disregard for customer concerns have not only caused financial hardship but also eroded my trust in your institution. When I first opened my account, I was issued an incorrect account number. As a result, I incurred multiple NSF fees through no fault of my own. I followed the bank's instructions and submitted the necessary documentation directly to Miss Sylvia for adjustments. Despite multiple follow-ups via email, she has ignored my requests, failed to make the adjustments, and has not responded to this day. This is a clear case of negligence, and a direct violation of the customer service standards expected from a financial institution. If these fees are not reversed immediately, I will escalate this matter to the relevant banking regulatory agencies. 1/29/2025, I visited the branch due to a malfunctioning chip on my debit card. I was assured that I would be issued a replacement card with the same 16-digit number but a new expiration date and security code. However, when I attempted to use my new card, my transactions were repeatedly declined. Upon contacting customer service, I was informed that the card issued to me was not properly registered in the system, effectively leaving me without access to my funds. This is not only unacceptable but also poses a serious financial risk, especially if I had been relying on these funds for essential purchases. The most alarming aspect of this situation is the complete lack of accountability from the branch manager, Miss Sylvia. She has ignored multiple formal requests, failed to take responsibility for errors made under her supervision, and consistently avoided addressing customer concerns in an attempt to dismiss or "sweep issues under the rug." Her failure to perform her duties properly is not only unprofessional but outright unacceptable. A bank branch manager is expected to uphold integrity, provide solutions, and ensure customer satisfaction. Instead, Miss Sylvia has demonstrated incompetence, lack of responsiveness, and a blatant disregard for customer issues. Miss Sylvia's misconduct and failure to fulfill her managerial duties. A complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and Texas Department of Banking will be filed. I will share publicly share my experience of warning other customers of the risks associated with banking at your institution. This situation is beyond frustrating, it is an outright failure of service and leadership. I expect immediate corrective action and a direct response from upper management. Anyone who is thinking about coming to this bank you better think again. read more

I used to love this CU. Last auto loan I was told 3 different percentages before signing up. 2 over the phone and 1 in the store. I have had so many rude and incompetent people over the phone. One lady is amazing and super helpful. ALL the others I have spoke to I wanted to hang up on or I did hang up on. I have worked with people in service industry customer service, auto dealerships, telemarketing--- all kind of jobs dealing with people and I am tired of the random numbers they have have me. random dates of money due changing! At the drive through today first she says one number then another and I questioned it and she said she ROUNDED UP -No thank you.... then went over my question just asking for the money again. the entire payment was different over the phone when I was called. I am so tired of the randomness and confused or whatever's wrong with whole can't get with the program. I've had friends say also --"yeah that bank has changed". hope yall get better. I'd like to stay but Shell is calling my name for my next auto loan. Hopefully this helps someone else. Hellscape like no other and has the distinction of the worst "financial" institution I have ever dealt with. This subprime lending hellhole will lie to you to keep you on the hook with the promise of completing what should be a simple process for a home equity loan so they can continue to try to sell you on the insane idea of refinancing your mortgage with them at ridiculous rates. We felt like we were at a North Shepard used car lot perhaps named "Uncle Bob's Fine Used Motorcars" where the buffoon manager tried to convince us that ditching our 3.125% loan that we have 10 years left to pay off for a 5.25% 20 year loan that will cost many times more based on the concept of "easy monthlies". She tried to sell it on the lower monthly payment as a smart financial move :D. Does that idiot ever find anyone that will go for that! It took months to close the accounts that were only opened to facilitate the loan, and refund our money, and I have had to report them to the Texas Credit Union Department to contest their illegal business practices, fraud by classic bait and switch, and the fact that they would not comply with repeated requests to close our accounts and return our money! We gave up on these idiots and just went back to my former credit union, MemberSource Credit Union, that did the loan with a great rate quickly and professionally. Is it possible to give Texas Bay a ZERO? If not, there should be. A COMPLETE failure and comedy of errors as a potential LOAN source for TRUE REAL ESTATE INVESTORS. Not talking about personal home purchases that many people think of as an investment. I am talking about buying a property a single family home (1 unit) to 4 units that an INVESTOR would purchase to RENT OUT to others and collect an INCOME. That is a pure real estate investment. So I called Texas Bay Credit Union initially because of their APPARENT excellent customer service and eagerness to work with me as a REAL ESTATE INVESTOR. I was told by one of their loan officers "A" that it was possible to do a 20% down payment on a 4 unit property I wanted to buy and I was up against a very tight deadline since another buyer wanted to buy the property I was interested in . Mind you, "A" kind of acted as if I was the person who would be the reason for any delays in getting my loan approved- (please)-rushing me through questions I had on the phone. I confirmed with loan officer "A" TWICE if she sure about the 20% down ('Yes Yes') because a week prior they told me it was 25% down so BASED ON THAT I said it was ok to run my credit. She then tells me today, actually as a FANNIE MAE requirement, it would have to be 25% down. WHAT???! Had I known AHEAD of time that 25% was required and that it was a USELESS WASTE OF TIME FANNIE (or Freddie) backed loan, I would not have even considered Texas Bay. I thought this was pooled credit union member money (My bad I guess for not asking up front which I usually do) The loan manager "L" called me up after I told them about their major mess up and he asked if I still wanted to go ahead just to get a LOI so I could submit a contract and look for a better lender later. I reluctantly said OK because I figured Texas Bay OWED me something for my time and loan application and exposing my financial life to them for their ROYAL SCREW UP and wasting my time, running my credit and costing me points---I FULLY expected an approval as I have a fairly significant stash of cash in the back and barely any personal debt---L gets back to me and says my loan was rejected because I didn't make enough. What again?? First of all my personal income net was over 9k a month (as they calculated) and he said that wouldn't cover a $2080.00 a month loan because of their definition and calculation of Debt service ratio. Huh??? I had to tell him I don't pay my mortgages out of my PERSONAL net it comes from the INCOME RENTAL PROPERTY I am BUYING- the property I am trying to acquire is estimated to bring in $5100 a month. It is pre construction not even built yet. I have been in RE investment since August 2004 by the way. He says 'per Fannie Mae guidelines...' (barf!) Who cares about the fools trying to run Fannie and Freddie and making life difficult for millions. I said to him that TEXAS BAY MISREPRESENTED ITSELF as a lender for INVESTMENT PROPERTIES because that's not how real estate investors run or operate their business. I wondered out loud and asked 'L' why Texas Bay wasted my time and cost me the deal and cost me credit score points only to embarrass ITSELF sending me a 'rejection letter'? The chutzpah of it all honestly. Aren't you guys in the REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT business? Don't you know what you are looking at when you see the tax return of a real estate investor? (Another fail by Texas Bay--they sent me an email telling me they couldn't find my investment property on my 2019 tax return. DOH! I sent them a SCREENSHOT of exactly what page the Schedule E and investment property was on. Right then I should have cut these rank amateurs loose but....because I always LIKE TO THINK, a bank or credit union knows what it is doing...but NOPE.) BEWARE REAL ESTATE INVESTORS! Stay away from ANY would be lenders (banks or credit unions) who are hemmed in by bonehead Fannie and Freddie restrictions and have NO IDEA what they are doing. Drop them at the FIRST RED FLAG and don't let them run your credit EVER until they give you an LOI--neither party is legally bound to it so demanding a credit run is just an unnecessary move on the would be lender part to make them feel validated. Don't even talk to these sophomores. It will save you time, money, your credit score and most of all, closing on great deals! J.T. read more

Early on if the first pandemic I got a call saying I owed them $500. I had taken out all my money but a few dollars since I didn't want to go in to close the account. I opted out of overdraft because I didn't want to owe why was taken out plus a fee years ago. The $500 I owe is in fees. The call early on I made a case that they lost no money and all the money they wanted was from their own fees. Which their creditValet app didn't notify me of. During the call I said that it was a bad look to do this during the pandemic and just unfair since their app didn't tell me anything was charged (I forgot to change over something to my new card). An Anna said she would talk to someone if I needed to pay and call me back. She never did. They are still saying I owe them months after this was settled. read more

I have banked with TBACU for over 25 years. For many years they were customer focused and had very polite employees. The last year I have had several terrible experiences getting left on hold for 30 minutes or more, and had rude employees who don't seem to care about me or customer service at all. I tried to get a car loan this month and they indicated the only way they would fund was with a check in the mail. I got the auto dealer to accept an overnight check in lieu of electronic payment like all the other financial institutions do lately, and even offered to pay for the extra cost over snail mail. After a 15 minute hold I was told the manager Louis Barrara would absolutely not consider any options other than normal mail even if I paid for it. Dreadful customer service. She's extremely helpful, thorough, responsive and truly cares about you and your financial goals. I've been trying to get an auto loan here and have had to go two weekends in a row because the banker keeps promising to email me or call me and never does. She practically told me I'm approved but she seems to lazy to do her job. I rather not name names but I've completely had it. Even when I go through the drive thru or inside it always takes so long. I'm honestly thinking of changing credit unions because of this. From my understanding bankers work on commission usually and I'm not sure if that's what they do here; if it is then I seriously don't understand what has been the delay. Had purchased a car through another credit union years ago and it was totaled in a car accident and for some reason it ended up on my credit report as a repo. I provided all the documents to Texas Bay Area credit union that the insurance company and I had paid the car off with title release documentation. Without further question and proof of income they finance my Mercedes. The easiest credit union I have ever dealt with in the quickest car buying experience I have ever done on a vehicle.
