Most classes have 5-10 black belts in addition to Coach Travis, plus many more upper belts who take the mentorship of lower belts seriously. This means you have exponentially more people passing on knowledge they learned at Team Lutter. If you show up on time, be humble and coachable, you will eventually reap the life-changing benefits from Team Lutter's tight-knit community.

On these mats, he learned the grit and discipline that became the foundation of his character; he is now serving as an officer in the United States Marine Corps. I credit this gym with helping him find the internal strength to achieve that. For me, I have continued training into my late 50s. This isn't just a place to exercise; it's a place to find true camaraderie, learn an amazing life skill, and find a support system that truly wants you to succeed. Whether you are a parent looking to give your child a head start in life, or an adult looking for a challenge in a supportive environment, this is the place to be. World-class instruction and a world-class community.

The gal that does the registration can't seem to explain why the registration, down payment, are ridiculously high, so you are left pondering why are you going to invest over 2000k in a contract two day 40min training camp whose head coach by the name Story can't even introduce himself? The head coach left a single purple belt student alone with 15 kids- most who were there for the very first time- so the whole free trial became a huge WTF experience. My kid kept being tossed by another experience kid, so naturally, he was a human throwing bag. I ended enrolling my kids at Gracie's Barra by Wilshire, 1000 time's better than this place and cheaper.

They have another tournament in Oct, but do not go especially if you are a women. Not only were there not enough women competitors, but I didn't have anyone in my division and they still refused to refund me. The same thing happened to another girl who was in a weight class below me. They simply forgot about her until she reminded them that she would like to participate in a different division. A lot of guys got robbed of their matches too. Some waited for hours only to have 1 match! What was even more tacky is that they had to pull out their own "referees" to help participate in those competition because there wasn't enough people. The owner, Chris Story, (can't believe someone like him is a black belt with his personality) was extremely condescending when I flat out said that I don't want to negotiate, I just want my refund. He offered credit, but honestly, hell no. We won't be back. Terrible facility: in the middle of PO'DUNK USA (nowhere), no A/C, no water fountain, no on-site medical supplies They do not honor their own rules: - Some people had to weigh in with gi's on and some people didn't - They did not have double elimination. Some people had it, and others only had 1 match. They guaranteed double elimination but half the people in my academy got short changed and only 1 match Something has to be said about a business who is so short sighted and not willing to refund customers. All they want is your money, but I hope their brand and reputation will eventually catch up with them. I know many of us won't be returning to compete at his shitty tournaments.

After asking around, different people tried to get me to join their school, but when I checked them out, they appeared very stereotypical, macho-oriented, which turned me off. When I found out about this RCJ Machado location, I got excited. I came in and Hugo, the office manager, was really friendly and helpful. I came back a couple of days later with my gi and tried out a class. I signed up right after the class. I previously trained with another Machado black belt, this place maintains the same high quality teaching and training as any other school run by a Machado black belt. Marcos is a great instructor who gives everyone equal amount of time. Unlike other places were instructors have favorite students, Marcos makes sure that he works with everyone, often going around doing drills individually with everyone in class to make sure that we all get it. But the instruction goes beyond Marcos and Hugo, as advanced students are helpful in working with new students as well. There are no egos here and everyone is willing to work with one another. This is simply a great place for anyone that is serious about training in jiu jitsu at a high level.

TLDR: rude, unprofessional, and will do fraudulant charges and then lie about what they stated…read more The instructor is so nice during the trial class and then magically forgets how to treat kids after that. Every class the instructor comes up to me and tells me what he did wrong in class, which I appreciate the opportunity to work with my son in addressing issues so no problem there, but the last straw of his attitude was when he took his belt away, I asked what my son was doing because I was actually watching and for the first time mine wasn't being out of line and his response with a snark said "he's just being Ty" well i can't work on anything with him if you won't tell me but the attitude is very telling of how you feel about my autistic child, mild but that doesn't matter, and he still feels your attitude because children are very intuitive. Either way, I've never met a 4 year old that doesnt wiggle. Another day before class the instructor addressed my son and i said "it's not an excuse but he hasn't slept more than 4 hours at a time in the last 2 weeks so it's a little rough" and the instructor literally told me "that's a home issue, give him nyquil" to a 4 year old. When we signed up the paper states $200 termination fee if leaving before 6 months but I was told in person by the lady in charge "but I don't charge that for kids because they change their mind a lot" no I didn't add an addendum the paper because I had a fussy nursing baby so no hands to write entire sentences. She charged it anyways to a card they didn't have permission to use but I used it in their business once to buy his uniform and pay the start up fee, and she tried the approved card first but it was declined because it was stolen recently. she sent a link when we signed up for future monthly payments that were to be charged on a completely DIFFERENT card and permission was revoked in writing to use original card they had on file. She's now saying the contract wasn't notated and initialed, either way you should stick to your word and not lie, but also verbal agreements are binding in the state of Texas.

The owner, Coach Dondi is a great combination of fun yet strict, which is so good for the kids. They enjoy their training and progress well in their skills. The classes, which can be quite large, have good discipline. We highly recommend this school if you're interested in your child (or yourself) gaining strength and skills that will benefit them for a lifetime.
