I'm a 100% disabled Veteran with cardiac issues (very high burden of PVCs). I reached out to Dr. Burkhardt for a second opinion and understood that this consultation would be at my expense. I've had two telephone calls with Dr. Burkhardt. The first was a consultation (second opinion) which took place on 12.27.24, was billed $157.20 which was paid in full on 01.10.25. The second call was on 01.24.25 and lasted less than 1 minute - yes, less than 1 minute - as shown on my telephone records. I also received a bill of $157.20 for this call. I disputed this charge as being excessive and had a back-and-forth with the clinic, and their third-party billing office, for finally on 03.10.25 I was told by the billing office that the new amount due was $21.60 which I paid over the phone. However, I have continued to receive bills for $157.20 and have had numerous calls with the third-party billing company, as well as the practice, and there has been no resolution. The practice manager, Rachell Thomas, has not returned any of my voicemail messages regarding this matter. No one can explain why I was told the total was $21.60 nor how the $21.60 was applied since the remaining balance is still "$157.20 - the original amount. No one can explain how the amount due appeared as '0-30 days' one month and the very next month it appeared as '120+ days) and was turned over to a collection agency! Fortunately, the third-party billing office has been trying to help and recall the bill from the collection agency and put a 'hold' status on it until I can get resolved. The billing company needs authorization from the clinic manager to adjust the amount due; however, the clinic manager is completely non-responsive to my calls or messages from the billing company. Today, I left yet another message for Rachelle Thomas, clinic manager and, based on past experience, do not anticipate a return call. In researching, I have discovered many patients who have had issues with billing - including those with insurance who were told by the clinic that insurance would cover the charges only to discover later that it was not covered and the patient is 'on the hook' for the charges. While the care/treatment provided by Dr. Burkhardt may be 'top-notch', please be aware that you may have continued cardiac issues from dealing with the billing issues and lack of response. read more

Great providers, but they don't validate insurance. Going to this doctor genuinely has the potential to bankrupt you. They made absolutely no effort to verify that the people they were sending labs to were in network for my health insurance. No effort whatsoever. I went here a year ago, and I am still getting balance bills in the mail. I have a great health insurance plan from Aetna, they just didn't want to spend the extra 15 minutes it would take to make sure that bloodwork, labs, etc were getting sent to people that actually accept my insurance. After driving an hour to her appointment (and taking off work for the day) my mother was told she couldn't be seen because her insurance wasn't accepted. We had spoken to the office on the phone on three different occasions at this point, and no one bothered giving us warning. In office, we got no apology, zero sympathy, and were told to just pay out of pocket anywhere between 50 and 300 dollars. No. We're not paying out of pocket when we have insurance. Now we have to find a new doctor and get an appointment, which notoriously take weeks to get in. Horrible customer service, a new policy is needed to protect your clientele. read more

I had my first procedure with this group when they were are part of Texas Cardiovascular Consultants. They split off a few years ago and not much is changed as far as the quality of service, but now I have (2) bills, one for my cardiologists and one for my electrophysiologist. My original consultation was by Dr. Horton, who I love. He is a down to earth boot wearing Texan who talks straight. My original procedure was done by Dr. Canby who I got to say (5) words to when I was supine on a EP lab table being administered anesthetic. I had no problems with my device and I had a nicely healed scar so Dr. Canby did his part. Since my first procedure I have had follow-ups with Drs. Burkhardt, Sanchez and Zadgrodsky all who were great. My battery ran low in 2011 and I had a new ICD device implanted in January of 2012. I elected to have my new device to be implanted by Dr. Canby again since the first implant went so well. Our conversation was just as short as the first one, but everything went great. I have also had great experiences with the nurse practitioner and other staff. The 5th star is missing because of some run-ins with the business side of the practice. Policies the second go around were not explained well and I got a really stressful call the day before my procedure that 100% of balance would be due before I had the procedure! I had to scramble, move money around and get down there before closing to get them their money. They were apologetic, but there definitely is room for improvement in that department. 39 year old patient with ventricular tachycardia. I was referred to Dr. Gallinghouse through my dad's cardiologist in Houston. After meeting with me and listening to my issues Dr.Gallinghouse then referred me to Dr. Burkhardt who specializes in the ventricular problem I was having. In both cases I was treated with respect and kindness. Dr. Burkhardt recommend an ablation, which he performed. This was about 18 months ago and I've been great ever since, no issues. My young adult daughter with a pacemaker was trying to find an EP when she moved to Austin. She consulted with both Dr. Coffeen and Dr. Gallinghouse who both recommended an aggressive procedure when she just needed a new generator. As a nurse, I questioned the need for laser lead extraction and they were condescending and didn't even look at the condition of her leads. We got another opinion from her prior EP and from Dr. Hong in Austin. The procedure that they had recommended was completely unnecessary and instead she was well cared for at Seton heart Institute. read more

To look for a solution to some recent SVT's I'd been having, I was recommended to see Dr. Horton. I really liked him right off the bat. And had a successful, I assume, ablation done. The whole experience was harder than it needed to be, since we were forced to wait from 10:30 am arrival time, until 5PM to start the procedure. I understand that things sometimes take longer than expected and things can go wrong. But it is draining to be fasting since the day before, no food or water, and wait 6.5 hours in a hospital gown in a tiny, cold room. We left the hospital and 9:30 pm, 11 hours later. We should have been told to arrive at 3PM. Seems as though more concern over a patients schedule should be shown. read more

This place took me for a ride on the money train. Had heart issue, was in the hospital. They set me up for an appointment, waited an hour and a half, never saw the Dr I was scheduled to see. Nurse came in said everything was fine but wanted me to go for more testing. I would not recommend this place to anyone! They played on my emotions to get more money. read more

Let me start by saying that I actually really like Dr. Zagrodsky - very kind and knowledgeable. But this office is definitely difficult to deal with. My last appointment a few months ago, I got a call that Dr. Z wasn't available and would have to reschedule. He's only in office 1.5 days a week, so had to push it out by about a month to find an opening. Alright, no big deal. When I show up to that rescheduled appointment, Dr. Z isn't there, it's a medical assistant who is pretty strongly suggesting a treatment plan that seems to be contra to everything I'd talked about with the doctor. I want to discuss it with the doctor before deciding, so schedule another follow up. Show up for that appointment, and again the doctor isn't there - it's a different assistant this time. This person seems to have no idea at all what my history is or why I'm there, suggests repeating the monitoring I just had done but can't really explain why that would be necessary, and then seems annoyed with me when I say I want to talk to the doctor. I've also had pretty consistent trouble getting anyone from this office to ever return a call about scheduling. Again, I actually really like Dr. Z, when I can actually get to see him, but may have to change doctors due to how difficult that is. read more

Never. Again. I should back up a little. I'd had a pacemaker for 8 years when I started going to this group. Admittedly, I have a complicated history that up till then had been overseen by most of my Dr's who diagnosed me initially and knew the full story. But that's the entire problem. My Dr. at Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia weren't interested in my history. He was interested in what he could see RIGHT NOW. The PA was horrible. Walked in and said "so it looks like you have blah blah blah blah" (something which was NOT my initial diagnosis). She decided I had something else entirely by looking at my chart for 5 seconds without talking to me at all. Then there's Zagrodzky. Here were his exact words to me: "I think we should take out your pacemaker and see what happens." See what happens? SEE. WHAT. HAPPENS? If he'd read my chart AT ALL, he would know what happens. The prior to my pacemaker documents pretty accurately what happens. But, he's not into patient history. He's into what he sees currently. Maybe some of the other Drs are better, but my experience here was awful. That was the last time I walked into that office. read more

Dr Burkhardt at TCAI put my persistent afib to rest when my local doctors said it couldn't be done. Been almost a year and still doing fine.. This is the only place to go if you have any kind of heart arrhythmia. Do your research they are the best in the world. read more

Dr Gonzalez used modern technology to correct Afib after a mitral valve repair. I had been told ablation wasn't likely to be effective.

Was mislead into going here by dr Burkhardt and his nurse. I'm no better but on my own. They will do nothing to help me. I live in ky.

This office is completely unorganized. We traveled from Dallas to this office for a procedure to correct my husband's afib. Since we don't live in Austin we had to book a hotel stay. The date of the procedure given to us verbally changed by the time they emailed us a confirmation. No phone call or anything. Now our hotel rooms (whole family came) were booked wrong and days requested off of work were wrong. That was August. Now his second procedure was verbally told to us for the last week of October. Didn't book hotels yet. Well, guess what? Date moved to Thanksgiving week. Monday the 19th. This time I called and MADE SURE that they were not going to change it again. This date was final. She didn't call me back but called my husband back and assured him that's the date. That is in 5 days. My husband hasn't heard anything from them so he called to get his pre surgery instructions. Can you guess what I'm about to tell you...surgery isn't scheduled for Monday. I am beyond livid. This office doesn't give a damn about their patient's time. So completely ridiculous read more
