Dr Harris was taking new patients so I scheduled with a clear understanding that I was coming for an annual wellness exam covered by Medicare. Unfortunately my appointment was during the flooding in the Austin area, with low water crossings closed prior to public road closings were updated. My travel to the clinic took 90 minutes that is typically 50 minutes. I checked in to the front desk 17 minutes late and Dr Harris made the decision to turn me away regardless of the 3 hour round trip I had just made, white knuckling it all the way. Since I didn't know her, I gave her the benefit of the doubt and rescheduled for the following day. Storms still prevailed but I took alternative routes and arrived 20 minutes before my appointment. Upon checkin I was told this annual physical would not be covered by Medicare. And was given a spread sheet that required fasting for the blood test, another request I made in advance to have before the exam, only to be told she doesn't do that with new patients, requiring a followup visit - I'm guessing for additional costs tacked on to the initial visit. She finally showed up to my room 30 minutes after the office visit was scheduled. This was our first introduction and I knew just by her appearance she was not in good physical health based on her obesity. I proceeded to share with her the appointment confusion over an annual wellness exam that clearly is covered by Medicare and the $215 costs now being required not to mention the return for labs. Then I showed her pictures of my previous days travel showing her the closed water crossings from the morning before, and the 17 minute delay. At that moment I was prepared to leave without an exam based on her 30 minute late entry to my 2nd appointment! I'm done with this "God" mentality in the medical industry and how rules apply to clients but not held by the same doctors that set these rules. And one more point...if you are in the medical industry, especially primary care, you should practice and look the part. One of the questions I was going to ask was her knowledge of nutrition, supplements and peptides along with HRT. I got my answer when the fat Dr Harris walked into my room. Do better.

I felt personally violated. So I was very nervous going into my first appointment Dr. Shah. I chose Dr. Shah based on several good reviews that I read online. His bedside manner was as explained in the reviews. Very kind, very patient, very informative, very "gentle." We discussed all of my options. I felt like he really took his time with me. He and I decided on the best next course of action for me to get well. For only the second time in regards to this very painful and potentially dangerous medical condition, I felt HEARD. Specifically, that Dr. Shah understood my trepidation and concerns about upcoming medical procedures. After my initial consult, somehow something got lost.In translation. Dr. Shah did refer me to another specialist; however, it was not as we had discussed in office. Since my initial visit, I have had a subsequent telehealth with Dr. Shah. Once again he addressed all of my questions. And offering telehealth is so incredibly convenient, particularly when mobility and transportation is an issue. Next step is to readdress a new referral and move forward on my medical journey. I feel like I'm in good hands...physically and metaphorically. As far as the clinic, making an appointment was really simple. Everyone at the front desk is super nice and helpful. My in office appointment was right on time. I set in the very crowded waiting room for about five minutes. I was pleasantly surprised. I recommend Dr. Shah for your medical speciality care needs. He manages to make the really not so fun and scary stuff somewhat not as bad. :)

I first started with Kristin F (practitioner) when I would make an appointment. I always felt comfortable and she was always helpful, informative, and listened. Every time I walked into that office I am greeted right away and there wasn't a long wait time. Everyone is always smiling and filled with joy. I travel from south austin and I don't plan on changing them unless I move far, far away. lol Now that Dr Alberda is part of the team there is no better doctors office then this one. I have never walked in to a place like this where you get joy, understanding and great knowledge/skills like this office. Even the phlebotomist is a sweetheart with great skills to draw your blood. Its a short visit with her but her pleasantry last beyond that. Every single person of the staff is excellent at their job and they feel like old friends. I wanted to give kudos to this team and know that it's appreciated how they treat the patients like family with care and excellent skills. I think they tried to kill me...Why the hell did it take three months to get me to a surgeon? My…read moreexperience with Cardio Texas started out well. I originally went to the Cardiologist because my doctor found that I had high blood pressure in August of 2023. The Cardiologist Dr. Otero put me on blood pressure pills. I took the pills for a few months and stopped. In March 2024 I ended up in the hospital with extreme dizziness and got physically sick when I moved. I went through a plethora of tests and the emergency room doctor said I had possibly had a small heart attack and/or Stroke, the hospital said I had to see a heart surgeon immediately and set an appointment. When I spoke with Dr Otero he said to cancel the appointment with the surgeon and that he needed to do more tests to verify my condition before I see a surgeon. Then I was run through every singe one of the same tests that were performed when I was in the hospital costing me for out of pocket expense again. Then an angiogram was scheduled for the first week of June 2024. The results were not good, Bicuspid valve that needed to be replaced, a 70% blockage that required a double bypass and a aortic aneurysm which could burst at any moment, (same thing killed my grandfather). I was told that a surgeon would call me the next week to schedule an appointment. Well, the next week came and went and no call...then the second week went by and no call. So, I called Dr Otero's office and left a message with his assistant Andrenika Ellison that I had not heard from the surgeon. I never heard back from Cardio Texas, and this was three weeks after my diagnosis. I waited until the next week, called again, no answer, left a message and never heard back. I had other family members who also used Cardio Texas but other Doctors in the practice call to try to get a response, and STILL NO CALL BACK! Remember, I have an aneurysm that could rupture an any moment and I would die on the spot. This went on for THREE months, I called every week, without an answer or a returned call. Finally at the end of August a surgeon's office called. I scheduled an appointment and the first thing the surgeon said to me was " I'm very concerned that you were diagnosed with this condition and your cardiologist took three months to get you to a surgeon?" Then he said, my diagnosed blockage was not 70%, it was 85% blockage and I didn't need a double bypass, I needed a triple bypass and could I be ready tomorrow for surgery? Then the surgeon said, I could be almost recovered by that point if they would have sent you back in June. BEWARE OF THIS PRACTICE, THEY ARE JUST LOOKING TO GET THAT COMMISSION FROM BIG PHARMA. Then, when I went to Cardiac recovery CARE with a physical therapist to help with my physical recovery. I was supposed to go to for several weeks but I ran into an issue the first day with my heart rate shooting up to 130 bpm. The therapist made me stop and instantly called to speak with Dr Otero and didn't get a answer. I was told to go home because we could not do any more exercises until he spoke with the Dr. Well, needless to say after making several calls and leaving messages the therapist never heard back from Dr. Otero or his office staff and would not see me without their call back. I'm going to have to say this is pretty sad for the type of doctors that are in this office...you know...HEART DOCTORS...or are they Grim Reapers!

Everyone from the front desk to the imaging area was so kind, helpful and knowledgeable. The nurses were thorough, professional, and caring. The radiology tech was one of the nicest people I've met in a minute! The doctor actually spoke to me like a real person. This was in stark contrast to the CareNow clinic I visited earlier in the day wherein the doc stared at his computer screen as he typed the whole time he was in the room with me. At Ally, the doc had a conversation and let me have a voice in my care plan. She actually seemed like she cared about what was going on with me even though we didn't really figure it out. She made she I was safe to go about life and try to figure it out with my pcp, which was all I needed. I had seen the Ally logo around but didn't know what it was. Now I know they are my emergency medicine ally! Hope I don't have to go back, but know I'll choose Ally over anywhere else if I do.

I have never met such a kind and patient doctor in my life, and that experience was continuous from our first visit to this office, to the Heart Hospital prep / surgery, to the follow up here a few weeks later. That said, the receptionists need some training in customer service... every visit has been less than pleasant at the front desk, but I imagine they deal with a lot of terrified / angry / nervous folks all day every day, so I gave that a pass. Would not want to miss out on Dr. Dewan over a couple of grumpy secretaries. 10/10 for Dr. Brendan Dewan.
