On 01.09.26 I came here for knee surgery. This was a bit of a hike from my home, but it was well worth it. The medical team that cared for me was comprised of rock stars. Nurses Judy, Alexis, Cody, and PT Keri were extremely personable and attentive to my needs. The anesthesiologist was down to earth and relatable. Everyone there seemed to truly love what they do, which apparently is providing attentive and supportive care. And of course, my surgeon, Dr. Robert Burgmeier - simply the best. From check-in to check-out, the process was almost perfectly smooth and efficient. I am due to return in a month or so for another surgery, but my confidence in that outcome is already well established. read more

If you, friend or family member are in need of treatment here it will be just fine. At least by our experiences. Every patient has a story but I will skip ours and focus on the facility and other stuff. Parking is free and usually open on the ground level. I have posted photos of the surgery waiting area where one goes through the final admission and onto pre-op ward. You may have gone to 3d floor earlier to complete pre-admission. Free WiFi in building. Snacks in waiting area and coffee/tea beverage station. If there over lunch go to 1st floor cafeteria for inexpensive meal. After surgery patient will probably go to overnight patient ward on 1st floor. The hospital uses the app EASE to keep friends and family posted as to what is going on during surgery and right afterwards. Take advantage of service. Bring phone/tablet power cords if patient needs them for overnight stay. TV in room but easy enough to run battery down on phones. Last point; if your friend/family member needs to wear compression socks after surgery be sure to have nurse show you an easier way to help put them on using the unused 'barf' bags. Don't doubt me. My husband came here for surgery yesterday and all I can say is what an incredible group of medical professionals they have here. From intake to pre-op to post-op to discharge. Everyone was fantastic and so personable. The nurses were amazing as well especially in pre-op. Any bit of nervousness was easy to ignore because the nurses spent time with us and had conversations with us that took the upcoming surgery off of your mind for a moment. I love that there is an app you can download as the visitor so the nurse can keep you updated throughout the entire surgical process. I truly appreciated that and have never seen such a compassionate approach towards patients and their visitors. Also, there are snacks in the waiting room that are complimentary. Thank God because we went in at 12:30 and left around 5pm and guess who thought it was a good idea not to eat breakfast or lunch... me! The snacks were a saving grace. Most importantly, my husband was treated with dignity and respect. They took great care of him and for that, we are so grateful. read more

Unfortunately I have to use this facility because it's close to my house, any my surgeon operates here. Otherwise I would use UTSW any time over this one. My biggest gripe is that the facility requires a pre-op for a minor elective surgery with light sedation (maybe 30 minutes?) IF you are over a certain age. Ii am in perfect health and don't appreciate my insurance having to cough up a thousand dollars for a pre-op, all the tests and a chest X-ray where I am exposed to more radiation -- all to please their lawyers. Just covering their rear ends. This is a result of the buyouts and mergers of hospitals where there is zero common sense. If it were more than that, UTSW would require, AND THEY DON'T. When possible I will always use UTSW. New quide lines requiring a chest X-ray over 70 say its unnecessary and deems a risk of radiation exposure to the patient. A thorough health history and pre-op should suffice. These guidelines are no longer valid! I would love for the head of the center to contact me to discuss. I will have to switch doctors because I will never subject myself to this again. DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY. read more

I've been here over the past 10 years as both patient's father and twice as a patient. My last surgery was on my ankle in February 2017. The billing is good, the staff is great and the process is simple. All show absolute concern for your comfort and satisfaction. Well, I just can't say enough good things about the Texas Institute for Surgery. Here's the deal: I was having some elective surgery and wound up staying the night. Initially, it was a mistake that I was scheduled to stay over night, but I was in bad shape afterward, so it worked out for the best in the end. This was elective surgery, so insurance didn't have anything to do with it. I paid everything up front, so there were no surprises. We got there at 6 am to register and that went very smoothly. I got into the pre-op room about 7 am and got my IV started and paperwork signed. I was under anesthesia, so I didn't wake up until about 4 pm that afternoon in the post-op area. It was a long time to be under sedation and I felt terrible, but they took such good care of me! Like I said, I wasn't planing on staying the night, but it seemed like the best thing for me after the surgery. They got me upstairs and my first RN was Jordan and he was just wonderful. I had a couple of other RN's and Tech's during my visit but I'm so sorry that I can't remember their names. After some discomfort in the beginning, things calmed down for me and I had a late dinner (and also breakfast for me and my wife in the morning). The surgeon came to see me in the morning to make sure I was doing well, and then they got me discharged. The entire staff at TIS (is that acronym a thing?) was just simply amazing and I thank them all for taking such good care of me when I needed it. read more

My husband went in for injections in his neck yesterday. We were both super nervous - he's never had any kind surgery before this. EXCELLENT experience! Myreesha checked us in - she's so personable and made us feel at ease right away. LaRhonda was his PCT and she was great too. Sarah was our RN and man, were we blessed to have her. She was so caring and took all our concerns into her process. She was bubbly and could tell she really loved her job. Dr Boehler was the anesthesiologist and she was amazing! My hub felt nothing! And of course, Dr Banta... hands down a great guy and great surgeon! We could not have asked for a better experience! Thank you for everything!!! read more

He took care of a friend of mine and I was so pleased how he was with her and her family. Not only he took the time with her in pre op but also made sure she was ok all the way through stepdown. Been here for a couple of hours already. Actually, kinda like the place. It does NOT smell like a hospital. This is a definite plus. I don't have great memories from hospitals and the smell triggers the memories. The parking and access to the building is super easy. The staff is so pleasant and helpful, they are serious and professional, but ready to be light hearted and help you feel less nervous. They have a pager system to keep in touch with you, or at least the people waiting on the patients. I like that, I don't need to worry that I missed an update while running to the potty. If you have a long wait, there's plenty of quick food near by and even shopping and movies! read more

After having a dreadful experience at Precision Surgery Center in Dallas, it makes me realize just how truly outstanding and remarkable the Texas Institute for Surgery is! It's about time someone set the bar high for others to follow. Everyone (and I LITERALLY mean EVERYONE) was so welcoming, kind, courteous and friendly! Unbelievable staff!!! The waiting/registration lobby was beautiful and clean with a lot of privacy as well. The private rooms were large and comfortable. No one tried rushing us out after our son's surgery. They let us take as much time as we needed and then some. We could not have asked for a better experience! And to top it all off, no gimmicky games afterwards where they continue to bill you for extra "stuff" after your procedure. Straight up, honest, dependable, caring... I could go on and on. If you have the time, do yourself a HUGE favor and spend the time to go see ANY surgical centers out there before deciding where to have your procedure done. It makes a HUGE difference. If your doctor doesn't perform surgery at the surgical center you pick out as the right center for you, but rather at some sub-standard center, then I would question why and maybe even look in to finding a different doctor who cares enough about their patients that they would actually be concerned with associating their reputation to any surgical center that does not perform to standards of excellence. read more

From the time I entered til I was discharged, efficiency yet personal attention was evident. My surgery wasn't scheduled until that very day because it was suddenly needed/near "emergency ". And, I still experienced timely compassionate care. My surgeon and the entire medical staff gave me great care!!! I have been here 3 times and highly recommend it! read more

They told me they were in network for my insurance, but they weren't and I had to pay full price. Staff did not enforce Covid mask wearing in waiting area, and I had to ask a nurse to put gloves on. Would not recommend. read more

Dec 2017: I had surgery on both of my feet. My wife and I were welcomed into a modern comfortable waiting area; our arrival was registered and our parking ticket validated. My wife was thirsty and was shown to an automated snack area that she said had good choices. We had arrived early and were expecting a long wait, but we were expediently shown to our pre-op room to begin preparations for my procedures. Our nurse Kathy S gave us her undivided attention, was pleasant, informative, and great at starting my IV. Dr Cook came in to inform us how things would go, and sign my legs; Dr Dao came in to discuss anesthesia and gave tips for home pain and nausea control; the anesthesia tech (I forgot her name) came in and verified that her doctor had been in, the anesthesia plan, and that my legs were marked. Priscilla, our surgery nurse came by to introduce herself and verify all information pertinent to the procedure. I was given anti nausea medication and medication to start relaxing me. The last thing I remember is rolling out of the room toward surgery. I woke up in recovery with Cassie RN and my wife. I felt fine, no pain or nausea. I think I ate, drank, went to bathroom, and got walking boots. Cassie verified earlier teaching, gave written discharge instructions and wheeled me out. I do not believe the whole experience could have been any better. These are awesome people with crazy skills ready and willing to take great care of their patients. read more

Great atmosphere, great nurses, great bedside manner & extremely clean! What more can I (or you) ask for?

Best place to have surgery. Staff is very professional and knowledgeable. Place is very nice and clean. I had a tonsillectomy there by Dr. Bates and Dr. Margolis was my Anesthesiologist. Both physicians did an excellent job from beginning to end. They made me feel comfortable and at ease before going into the OR. The OR nurse, Theresa, was great too! I woke up in the PACU with no problems. Registration was a breeze. The wait to be called back to PREOP was not long, and the PREOP/PACU staff (especially Shanel and Rachel) were great. They also use lidocaine to numb the area before starting the IV so that's a plus. My whole experience there was great and everything went very smooth. Would definitely go there again for surgery if needed. read more

Was scheduled to have surgery here and was told my "discounted" cash pay cost was going to be $27,000. I then found out that this is much higher than other places so I cancelled. Surprisingly, an hour after canceling I received a call that they had made a "mistake" and it would be $17,000. Super shady!! If you don't have insurance, this place is ripping you off! read more

Dr. Champine performed hip surgery on my husband at the Texas Institute for Surgery. After careful research and recommendations, we made the decision to use Dr. Champine as his physician. We had been told that he has the best recovery rate for this type of surgery (hip replacement) and we have not been disappointed. He is a professional who surrounds himself with professionals. The surgery took place at The Institute and the level of care was over the top. Every single person we came into contact was helpful, friendly and professional. This facility was top-notch all the way through, from their waiting room, admissions staff, patient rooms, anesthesiologist, pre-op/post-op staff, the heated gowns :)...I really could go on and on. My daughter has had 2 surgeries at this hospital and both times I have been absolutely pleased with the care!! Dr. Paschal is phenomenal at what he does!! Dr. Burke the Anesthesiologist is so funny you can't help but put your child's life in his hands!! He is the first Anesthesiologist that ever made me comfortable enough to allow that MJ killing drug to be administered to one of my children. My son needed a wisdom tooth pulled I wouldn't let them use it I went to a completely different orthodontist, but with Dr. Burke I felt in good hands. So I definitely recommend this place to any parents. The Dr.'s I mentioned here are thumbs up when it comes to dealing with your children and not treating them like a number!! read more

I would give Texas institute for surgery 10 stars if I could. I had sinus surgery there may 2015 done by Dr. Albritton and hip surgery July 27, 2015 done by Dr. Steven Thornton. The doctors and nurses are very caring, happy, professional, organized, and knowledgable people. They treated me with respect and made sure I was comfortable at all times. The two anesthesiologists that I had listened to me and my concerns about getting super nauseated after surgery. They gave me several different things before, during, and after surgery to prevent nausea. I never got nauseated. It was such a relief. I am so grateful for these positive experiences with a hospital. Recovery has been easy and fast. I would recommend these doctors and hospital to anyone. read more

Top notch in every way. I would chose this place in a heart beat to have more procedures. In fact having just checked out today I am already scheduled for another related procedure in just a few more weeks. I am most hesitant of ever having an IV line placed into my hand; having one too many painful experiences with such location for an IV. Well, not this time. They gave me a tiny needle lidocaine injection into my hand to help deaden the IV needle. That made all the differences in the world. After the lidocaine injection (felt like a mosquito bite) they placed the IV in my hand. I didn't feel a thing. The lidocaine did the trick. The procedure itself was uneventful. No pain going in and no nausea going out. This place is the best. Every staff member made you feel as if you were their only concern. This place must have picked the best of the best to staff this place. All my questions were answered. Do yourself a favor and chose this A+ place - you won't be sorry. read more
