My mother purchased a beautiful wooden kitchen island with a marble top and leather woven stools for her home. She came home one day to find the marble countertop side trim pieces shattered on the floor. This kitchen island is now dangerous with sharp edges exposing that the marble countertop is less than a 1/2 inch thick. The owner was unwilling to give her any accommodation or good will gesture to rectify this defective piece. I was told to sand the sharp edges to prevent injury to my mother's aged thin skin. I guess you get what you pay for as this was a reasonably priced solution for her kitchen and now it's dangerous and unsightly.

They describe their items as a blend of the obscure with the uncommon...100% agree!! Every single item is hand selected...yes, hand picked! For this particular story/collection...they had items like the most amazing beautifully scented soaps... my FAV was the Spanish Anise Goat Milk Soap...so fragrant and yummy! They have, specialty leather goods, vintage goods, handmade ceramics, books, postcards, jewelry, they have the most amazing jars of honey, bottled root beer, tinctures + spray, one of a kind chairs, lamps, baskets, t-shirts, incense, ponchos, pants, flowing vintage dresses, soft soft cashmere and the list of amazing and truly special items goes on and on. I purchased a variety of items, so many favorite things here!! Another one of my favourite things was the Rain Water! I am a fanatic about drinking water and let me tell you this water was simply wet and pure and is a MUST HAVE! On Friday, November 11th, I flew to Texas from LA just to attend their sneak preview that happened at Midnight and it was just incredible!!! I thought they might get a few people in for this opening...well to my surprise there were like 50-60 people there shopping until 2:45am! I was also surprised to learn how many people from the LA area go to Smithville on a regular basis for weekends away etc. This sweet and amazing place, Midnight Monkey Mercantile, is located in a recently renovated brick building, built circa 1910 on historic 2nd street in quaint, charming Smithville, Texas! Which is also the home of the chick-flick favorite, HOPE FLOATS!! If you have a chance, Go Visit... you won't be disappointed!
