At this event, they had tables set up in the gardens, around the gazebo in the center. We got to take in the wonderfully catered brunch, while checking out all the hummingbirds, and the flowers they have growing! The gardeners have thoughtfully identified each type of plant growing in the garden, so you can look up more info on them later! Smart! They have statues and birdfeeders, and the gardens are official Monarch butterfly way points and stopping grounds. Inside the museum, you'll find a bunch of information on Connie Hagar, who set up the first Rockport nature preserve, and a bit on the history of the Key Alegro development. It shows a bunch of historical artifacts, and some stuff on the wildlife of the area. Interesting! The Aransas County area has long been a destination for nature lovers, and this area expresses the local love for the natural aspects of this coastal county. The museum is ADA accessible, and has ample air conditioning and clean restrooms. When I went, it was free admission to the museum, because we were there for an event. Not sure if it's free or open every day... I'm glad I came in! I certainly learned more about the development and history behind the area! Dawdling slow, reading placards, taking some pictures, & talking with the very friendly volunteer on site, it took only about an hour for me to see the displays on the lower floor of this Sears kit house from back in the day when a whole house could be a DIY project. Upper floor is admin spaces. If you're looking to fill a quick time slot in your schedule, this museum may well be your jam.

Thousands of photographs going back a 100 years to look through. Incredible artifacts to look at. They even have a gift shop with hard to find books and art for sale. This was the second time we've been there. This time they had a surfing display. The history of surfing in Port A goes back to the early 60s. I've been surfing for almost 30 years and I learned a lot. They had some really nice classic boards, memorabilia, artwork, stories, and tons of photos. We really enjoyed it. You should stop in here whenever you visit Port A. You will be blown away.

If you go when it's hot, bring water. Mosquito repellent is also a good idea but if you forget it, it's sold in the visitor center. When you pay for admission, you get an arm band and a crude map. We wished the map was better. At least one part of a pathway was under construction, so we ended up cutting through the playground to get back. While called a botanical garden, this place is equally good for seeing birds, insects, reptiles, and other animals. Admission is very reasonable, so it's a great place to bring the kids. In the visitor center there are small caged reptiles. If there's an attendant, you might be able to pet a lizard. A blue-tongued skink was out while we were there. There are other animals in large outdoor cages, including several beautiful macaws and lizards. There is a winding path that takes you to a variety of areas on the property. Some areas, like orchids and butterflies, are within enclosures while most things you'll see are out in the open. Along the path there are a couple of elevated observation decks and lots of descriptive signage. There is an unshaded play area. There are several purple martin houses, which are fun to watch. We had hoped to see some hummingbirds in the gardens, as there was a hummingbird area with feeders and flowers they generally like, but the heat was perhaps too stifling. All in all, we found this to be a great place to visit, weather permitting. If you happen to be a member at another AHS garden, you can get in free.

As longtime fans of Selena, this was a stop we had been looking forward to, and it did not disappoint. Admission was only $5 per person, which was an incredible value for the experience. Upon arrival, we waited in the front area until our group was escorted inside. The tour began in Selena's recording studio, where we learned more about her life, career, and legacy through displays and information provided throughout the space. There were plenty of great photo opportunities, and it was amazing to see so many pieces of Selena's history preserved. After the studio portion, we were escorted into the museum itself. Photography was allowed, but video recording was not. Everything was kept in pristine condition, and the employees were friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about sharing Selena's story. Of course, no visit would be complete without stopping by the gift shop. It was larger than we expected and stocked with a wide variety of merchandise for fans. We definitely didn't leave empty-handed and walked out with a pretty good-sized bag of souvenirs. We spent about an hour exploring everything the museum had to offer, and it was time well spent. Whether you're a lifelong Selena fan or simply interested in learning more about her impact on music and culture, this is a must-visit stop when you're in Corpus Christi. The museum does an incredible job showcasing Selena's life and legacy. It's packed with authentic, collectible pieces--her iconic outfits, personal items, and career achievements are all beautifully displayed. You even get to see the actual recording studio where she worked, along with her piano, drums, and her stunning Porsche Targa on display. Seeing all of this in person was truly special and meaningful. This visit definitely felt like paying my respects to a legend. The gift shop is great as well--I picked up a vinyl before leaving, and they also have plenty of shirts and memorabilia. The staff was excellent, the museum itself is clean and well maintained, and the overall ambiance and service were fantastic. I absolutely loved my visit and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area--especially fans of Selena.

While I personally didn't find anything that I needed to have in there, it's a very nice little shop with lots of powerful air conditioning, and a nice lady who was happy to let us stroll through, checking out all their wares. They have a large selection of local artists, doing cool and innovative things! They have a variety of media- jewelry, accessories, stuff for the kitchen, closet, and paintings. The shop was clean, and parking is easy! The prices were quite reasonable, and all the stuff was quite interesting. This shop is of many cool little art galleries along the main drag in Rockport. It's a fun way to get some culture in while you're at the beach!
