This was a new location and wouldn't recommend going through the growing pains. I am giving 2 stars because I was grateful that they took our daughters in last minute (after Los Amiguitos on MLK unexpectedly delayed when they would be able to start our daughter). The teacher who spoke English and Spanish was let go which was really when I started to notice that they weren't doing much with the kids. It was more of a daycare vibe where teachers just watched the kids and made sure they stayed alive. The only teacher who ever engaged in conversation and did cool activities like had the kids help set up bird feeds. The kids are changed anywhere and everywhere. I didn't agree with this personally because of sanitary purposes and as someone with a childcare background, I believe it's important for children to have a designated bathroom place to make that connection. Especially when it's time to potty train. We had started shortly after they opened. So their playground was still under construction. There was ZERO shade at first. Kids spend 2-3 hours in hot weather. Some days the HI was as high as 103. They quit doing water play for like a month when it started to get hotter. When I brought this up to Jackie, the director, she dismissed me and stated there were no guidelines for weather according to licensing. My daughters wouldn't eat at school because of how much the heat affected them. Mosquitoes and flies are a huge issue here even though they have pest control. This is an issue if you have a child who is more reactive to mosquitoes bites. My daughter would come home with what looked like marbles under her skin from the bites due to her reaction to mosquitoes. My 3.5 year old came home learning more English than Spanish. Most parents here are only English speaking so they place their kids here in hopes they will learn Spanish. It was hard on my older daughter as there were no other children who spoke Spanish. As far as I knew from what I was told, we were the only Spanish speaking household. So if you're of Hispanic background and looking for a Spanish program, this isn't the place. What was our deciding factor? I got a call from them that my youngest daughter had a fever of 102.4. I picked her up within the hour. The HI was 103. When I got there she was outside with the rest of the children in the heat. I brought this up to Jackie, and again she dismissed me and made it seem like it wasn't a big deal. She stated they were short handed and she had went to lunch so she had my daughter go with the rest of the kids and that she had her water bottle. Apparently my daughter's health wasn't more important than a lunch break. Child care licensing states that a child that is sick and sent home needs to be isolated from other children to reduce the chances of an outbreak. So they also broke licensing regulations. My daughter came back positive with COVID. No letter was sent out to the rest of the parents regarding a positive case (especially since they refused to isolate her). This was obviously a concern as it made me wonder what illnesses they were exposing my kids to as well. After that incident is when we pulled our girls shortly after securing another spot elsewhere. I never received an apology for Jackie not being respectful of my daughter's health even though I mentioned this was the reason why. Absolutely no cares given.

I believe that Casa has fostered independence, confidence, and creativity in my children. My kids do things at home like dishes and folding that are definitely not the types of tasks I would have thought they could do, and they enjoy it because it's doing real work, and they are comfortable challenging themselves. The gift casa has given me is to help me realize that my children are capable of so much more at a young age than I would have ever thought possible. And I feel that the parents who choose to send their kids there have similar values a us, which is great as we have become close with several families. They keep the child-to-teacher ratio relatively low in comparison to other preschools I have toured, and they all seem to know my son by name as they greet us coming and going each day (and not just his teachers, but seemingly the entire staff, which is awesome)! My son had never been to any type of daycare when I first took him to PLC as I previously worked from home. When I initially enrolled him, he started as a twice-per-week student, was extremely independent and had low-level communication skills. Over just his first 2-3 months as a part-time student, I saw a major improvement in his social and communication skills, and quickly decided to begin taking him three days per week. It wasn't long after that, we started him full-time and I am so happy we did, as his skill level went through the roof (and also became potty-trained much faster than I'm sure it would have taken without their help)!! He comes home talking about his teachers (Ms. Ashley and Ms. Tierra, whom he LOVES) and all of his friends, which always makes me really happy, knowing that he's happy. Ms. Caren and Ms. Sal are also AMAZING to work with. They are always extremely communicative, flexible and happy to accommodate parents' needs when possible. If we weren't moving way down south, I would have, no-doubt, stayed with PLC as long as possible until my son starts kindergarten. The rest of this review is an issue with the owner, Rochelle. To sum up she made me feel like my daughter was unsafe and this issue now made my daughter unwelcome to return to class. The issue began when Christina was gone and no one else confirmed my daughter was ready to come back to school after being sent home with a fever (I sent a note via chat letting them know she will be returning the next day). I understood that they needed a Dr.'s note or that we wait a full 24 hours (her fever broke at noon that same day). What I felt was unnecessary and set the rest in motion was when another teacher, Ms.Vanity, felt the need to apologize for the situation and say she saw my message and figured someone else would respond. No one else responded and now I had to make adjustments at work. This made me distrust Prep N Play. If an incident were to occur and Ms. Christina wasn't there, no one would feel the need to help, protect, and ensure my daughter's safety. When I addressed this with Rochelle, she apologized BUT they were just following policy in sending her home. I brought up other issues where communication is not being received by other teachers that sub in and she felt the need to explain to me why that is inaccurate. Rochelle could not understand my fear and left me feeling like my daughter was completely unsafe. After that emotional conversation, Rochelle called back at 6pm and confronted me saying I was rude to her and she is wondering if my daughter would be a good fit for the school. This made me feel that whenever I have a concern, Rochelle is unwilling to address and follow with a change. Her ego is more important to her than my daughter's safety. She has no empathy or sense of understanding. I was in shock that if she was going to make this call she couldn't have waited until the morning. Her lack of professionalism amazes me. I can't expect that only when Ms. Christina is there that she will be safe. The purpose of this review is to remind parents to really get to know the owners, sometimes accidents happen due to their inability to take action. This was a result of a simple issue. I can't imagine how she would handled a larger issue of any kind.

We were part of a larger brand name daycare before we moved here and it not did deliver the way Prep N Play has. Rochelle, Jeff, and everyone at Prep N Play really love my child and take their time with her. She comes home happy every day chattering away about all the activities she did or about all the new things she learned. Our pediatrician is so impressed with how advanced she is for a child her age and I give Rochelle all the credit. The way she structures her Montessori curriculum with life skills application is genius. I am a former public school teacher and I can see how my daughter not only learns the material but can also apply that knowledge. My daughter has also made lasting friendships and is excited to go to school in the morning. This makes my life so much easier. With the brand name daycare she would cry and be upset she had to go. Now, she is happy and cannot wait to see her friends. I am so grateful to Jeff and Rochelle for all they have done for my girl and her little sister will be joining Prep N Play very soon!
