Swung by here after a workout for a post workout smoothie I was in a tropical mood and got the peach lover with peaches, pineapple, and strawberries and added pea protein. My husband got the blue whale and added peanut butter. He was very happy with his choice. I discovered this place about 10 years ago when I lived in the neighborhood. The owner (an Olympian) and her employees are extremely helpful, positive and friendly. I usually go here for great smoothies, but have also purchased cold-pressed cod liver oil and other nutritional supplements. Conveniently located, well stocked, helpful information and relaxed atmosphere. I had a very poor experience with TFN nutrition I bought a beach chair from them through Amazon that was rated at 300lb capacity- I weigh about 235, When i first began to use it, it collapsed. When I asked them for a return, they told me it was 'out of warranty'. They also told me that they 'hadn't had any complaints' about the chair, when most of the reviews on Amazon were very low rated. if you want to trust them, that's your business, but i will never buy another thing from them again. I have only been into TFN a couple of times. If you are ever driving S on Research Blvd up near the HEB on Lake Creek you will see their TFN white van sitting in the parking lot. Good marketing stratgey. I have only purchased the smoothies there. I am not really interested in a lot of the other supplements they also sell. I must say, the smoothies are really good. The first time I was in there a year or so back, the service was not very friendly. I always try to "chat it up" with people especially in small local businesses and I can't even remember what happened but just remember feeling a little put off. I went in recently and it was totally a different story. The lady working the smoothie bar and cash register was very friendly and helpful. You can't judge a place by one "bad" visit. This is why I am posting this and giving a good review.......too many people on Yelp get upset by one bad instance and never return. I think everyone gets a second chance. Everyone has bad days... I got the orange and pineapple "smoothie" and added a lil strawberry, but I should have known the disaster about to unfold in my mouth when the lady said they "only add ice and some distilled water" to them...meaning, I just paid $4 for slightly citrus flavored chopped ice. Delicious tropical & protein smoothies! I stopped by after a work out and spoke to the friendly staff about supplements and vitamin sources. The owner is very knowledgeable and helpful, great varieties of herbal supplements and I was impressed with the education I receive about Omega oils and enzymes. I have bought online previously, didn't know the sources of the vitamins. Great education for anyone looking into buying good quality supplements for themselves or their families. Not sure who owns the place anymore, but the first and last time I was in the store I had a bad experience. The person working behind the counter immediately started diagnosing me with all sorts of ailments and tried selling me supplements. I told her, I came in for a smoothie, thanks anyway. They are always very helpful and have always given me exactly what I came for and not upsold me once. I happened to be at the mall and looked at the chain store there but didnt buy since the person was trying to talk me into something I did not want. Yes, the smoothies are good, but I would hardly say that's the main attraction of this place. The supplements are the best out there..no matter what you need. If you go during the week between 10am and 2pm you'll find the owner, Yvonne. She's almost more knowledgeable than a doctor and can help treat anything from fine lines to certain cancers, and everything in between. I've seen others on here complain about service to preferred customers...very silly. There are times during the day when the store gets busy and because so much attention is paid to each customer, one might have to wait to get their individual attention. But one could just as easily call (again, ask to speak to Yvonne) and consult over the phone. This makes it easier to save time by just coming in to pick up what has already been put aside for you. with so many medications out there that have been proven to have harmful long term effects, I trust this store, which invests in a program that makes the latest research readily available to reference. Having someone to do the homework for you is definitely worth waiting a few minutes, in my opinion. This place is worth the drive. read more
