I had a very disappointing experience today when I returned to the store with a box of hair color that had leaked after I purchased it. The business owner refused to refund or exchange the item, insisting it wasn't his fault. For an $18.00 product, this level of inflexibility and lack of empathy was surprising and unnecessary. As a business owner, he writes off losses every year, so accommodating a clearly defective item should not have been an issue. This kind of treatment makes me not want to patronize this establishment again, and I will be sure to let others know how they choose to operate. read more

I have been going to this place for over 10 years now. They are family owned and Lou and his wife are the most amazing people!! Please say it's small but in that space you will find everything you need!!!! You can ask the owner anything from what helps a specific illness or your symptoms. He also will tell you if something just won't work. Once i had an issue that he told me only a doctor could look at and the product wasn't sufficient. But its rare there wasn't an antidote in his store!! My children had pink eye one year, he told me colloidal silver and not even 3 days later my children were better. Teas, herbs and the BEST diffuser!! Store always smells of lemon grass and is such a relaxing environment!! I will continue to go here as long as I live in Killeen!! read more

Officially one of the only places I can find within about 30 miles that sells nutritional yeast. After several phone calls to area businesses asking if they sell nutritional yeast, we were directed to Health Arena. I'm floored more people here have no idea what nutritional yeast is, but was happy when a friendly voice answered the phone at Health Arena knew what I was looking for. I cruised over right away and was greeted by a couple friendly employees who are clearly very passionate about what they do. The store has TONS of products, vitamins, minerals, etc. I obviously only needed nutritional yeast. They had it in powdered or in flake form. Their prices are very competitive to what I'd pay in Southern California where these products are readily available everywhere. I went there 8/3/21. The fellow that runs it said more than once, "No. I do not want you in my store." He was upset because the time before that when I was there, I had already added up about $200 or more but he was visiting & I really didn't know where to find things or which brands were best. He did really start to help me until he suddenly started visiting with customers coming in that her knew. I needed his help but he seemed more interested in visiting with customers. I waited long enough and finally sat everything on the counter because it wasn't like I was going to put it all back and he did tell me that he had to put it all back (I would not have even known where to put the items) by himself. When he told me he didn't want me in his store, there were a few others in there that could hear him. He is talkative to everybody but there are times some customers need an owners undivided attention and I sure don't mean demanding either. The first time I was there oh, I spent a few hundred dollars. I'm just not in their click of friends.I was hurting & I think I huffed a few times this last time in there, I'm glad he did not want me in his store because with my lab values, I would've had about $300 this time. It saved me money. He was visiting w/ a lady checking out.I was not trying to make him hurry or be rude because I did huff some but only because I was hurting so bad. I was not mad or upset at anyone. I just thought it was unprofessional. When I go to work, I stay on my feet, doing everything for my patients as if they were a loved one. I don't act that way. It is very possible that he just did not like from the 1st time I came in there. I suppose it happens that there's people that just don't like me and it's okay but I sure wish he would've told me why at least maybe the 2nd time I went in. I may have offended him when I told him I bought activated charcoal there and something else that was expired. He did quickly let me know if did not matter. I found receipt showing that I had spent hundreds of dollars just a couple times I was in there. read more

For being a very small store, there were a lot of things here to choose from. They carry a lot of protein powders, herbs, alternate forms of pasta, grains, seasonings, vitamins, body products and more! It is a little crammed and there are things sitting on floors, but that's understandable since the shop is so small. There are no raw foods here, only packaged foods. Unfortunately, it was very hot when I was in here. They said the A/C normally works a little better. Not sure how hot is usually is but it was pretty warm. The staff seemed friendly and helpful. My only complaint in that area is that they carry xylitol and when I told the clerk that maybe they could consider telling people that it's toxic to dogs, his response was "Well, we don't sell products for animals". I explained that we used to use it in our coffee and the dog accidentally got into it and had anaphylaxis and we ended up with a $1400 vet bill and almost had a dead dog. I told him the vet explained that in recent years, they have discovered that the product is deadly in small dogs and can make a large dog sick. He said, "I've never heard of that" and then went on to tell me that it's made from corn now, not birch (implying that it's safe). I dropped it and at the end of my transaction, he said, "thanks for letting me know, I'll let our customers know". I can only assume he said this to patronize me and hope I would return. I'll still have to shop here since they appear to be the only decent place in town. read more

Funny story: I hadn't been there in a few months... so when I walked in, I was greeted as always and walked to find my favorite product; unfortunately, it had been moved. Hours: M-Sat 11-6. I was so happy to see many familiar natural beauty and food products that are easy to come by in my native Seattle. The owner was there and eager to answer my questions. While you'll pay a premium for these items, it's nice to support local businesses and most of these products aren't available at bigger chains in the area. Great store, my family shops there for vitamins and the like. Regarding Joy's issue with Xylitol and dogs, that issue is up to the owner of the dog to deal with. If an employee went through every possible scenario or warning he/she could think of, it might take awhile and not be fair to other shoppers. Let the buyer beware. read more

First I called the store to find out about a certain product, and the guy had 3 other interactions going on. He gave me the address and when I arrived I wasn't greeted at all. I walked around and found what I was looking for and asked if I could open the jar that clearly had the word "sample" printed on it. Instead of happily assisting me he stood at the register trying to scold me for wanting to open the jar and told me that I'd be surprised at how many people open products. That's when I told him that the jar said sample, and unlike "others" I clearly read the word sample on the bottle. He refused to assist me and started a verbal altercation about how I'm not a Christian woman, which I replied to him that if he were a Christian man he would have just assisted me with no problem. I told him that I will not spend my money there at all and he continued arguing with me, telling me it was private property and I'm not allowed to take pictures of his storefront, which obviously needs a makeover! Bought a Organic green tea there. The green tea said one thing on the front but in reality it was only 20% green tea. The rest was a filler of brown rice solids. Considering it specifically says NO FILLERS I thought I would alert the store. To date I have called 18 times. Most go to voice mail... with no voice mail, I will get a fax, or I will get hung up on... this is normally followed by me getting the fax. My guess they are trying to fax and then just hang up on you. This coupled with them not having most the stuff I am looking for, inability to keep things stocked when they do have it (for example in a box, and the lack of help in the store.. I walked into this store on October 22, 2015 about 5;30pm after leaving class at Texas A&M. I entered and saw a male worker on the phone talking very loudly. After I entered into the store I was not greeted immediately because my thought was because he was on the phone. However, after waiting for about a minute or so, a female worker came from the back and asked, may I help you? I replied, yes do you have frankincense and myrh? She said not together but separate. As she was walking towards the counter where the male worker was she pointed behind him on the shelf where it was and said the male worker would help me. He rudely said we don't have any frankincense and the female worker said yes in the blue bottle and she left and went to the back. I thought he was going to give me the merchandise to purchase never did. So I asked him, do you have the frankincense that you can burn. He rudely stated, "OH NO THAT IS NOT NATURAL IF YOU HAVE TO BURN IT AND IF IT IS, IT WILL COST YOU ABOUT A HUNDRED DOLLARS AND YOU CAN'T AFFORD THAT! I stated, excuse me I can afford it, especially if its pertaining to my health. He says, I didn't mean it like that. I said anyhow I am not going to burn it but use it in my vents as air freshner because it clears the air naturally. He continued to rant on and on. So I exited the business and said Peace and Blessings to you! On the other hand I did not go to this business to be stereotyped because of my skin color or my image but to purchase something good for my health as well as the environment.
