This personalized training offered by a young staff of Certified Personal Trainers, Nutrition Specialists and CrossFit Coaches is pricy but well worth exploring if you are seeking one-on-one and/or small group training shadowed and directed by a Certified Trainer. I was fortunate to meet with Tammy who explained to me that all the Certified Personal Trainers are independent consultants and work with members individually to develop packages that help them further their fitness and nutrition goals. Tammy also gave me a tour of the studio which is equipped IMO with the bare essentials like dumbbell racks, bench press benches, treadmills, gym rings- probably more stuff but those are the items that stood out. This is a very unique personal fitness studio model which differs from my experiences with other fitness centers and gyms. All the coaches are always available and approachable for Fitness Programs, tips, personal training. Hyperswole is not your typical gym. From a quick glance you may think that the gym is intended only for the hardcore fitness\gym fanatics. While the gym does have dedicated members, HyperSwole Sports Performance Gym has a program for every one regardless of age, fitness level and goal. The daily group fitness classes (that can be signed up online/mindbody app) are also posted on the main gym monitor. KidSwole Classes for ages 7-14 are held M,W,F as well a new offering for Senior fitness classes. You always have the option to follow your own workout OR work with one of the coaches to develop a custom tailored workout to meet your fitness goals. All of the artwork around the gym is by Coach Matt. It adds to the uniqueness of the gym and compliments all of the familiar gym equipment. There are rowing machines, xbex bikes, LifeFitness Resistance machines, cable cross-over machine, dumbbbell free weight area, squat and press rack area, and a dedicated deadlift area. Also available are heavy punching bags, weighted/fitness balls, kettlebells, boxes, monster tire/hammer, plate weighted push sleds and even an indoor basketball hoop! As the COVID-19 Pandemic is top of concern with many, all of the gym members and Coaches follow the best practices of proactively sanitizing equipment before and after use. The small group classes also allow to spread apart with space for each participant. While the gym can be busy at times, it is never overly crowded to the point where there is a concern or you have to wait a long time for equipment or machine. This is especially true for typical the peak times of other gyms or fitness clubs. Master LaMasters and Master Williams have been extremely accommodating to allow us to train with our kids, and our kids to train together despite being at different age and skill levels. As the parents we've been able to assist the kids in class, but also learn for ourselves different MMA techniques for self defense. And from the kids' perspective, they've gained a ton of confidence in their own strength and abilities. The days we can't make it in person, we're able to attend online so we don't miss any classes. They also offer online only memberships so our family and friends that are not local are able to train with us too! There's so many cool events as well like "ninja nights", aka parents night out, so we can drop the kids off once a month and enjoy a date night or some kid-free self-care. They've also started doing cosmic dojo parties, light saber classes, family game nights and so much more so we can come together as a community and enjoy great company. I highly recommend joining underground fitness! We're not only a community that bonds over wellness and self defense, but we've all become a family that is constantly growing and encouraging each other to be the best we can be!

Yesterday, a close family friend commented that he has noticed a significant growth in confidence, composure and maturity in my 2 kids since he first met them last summer. We train at least 2 days a week. During each class for every age group, there is a character lesson of the week. Lessons like, how to make a SMART goal, how to be gracious receiving Christmas gifts you already have or don't want, trick or treating safety, what to do if someone bullies you, etc. I love that all of these life skills are immediately applicable. I love that training at Tersak's is more than karate and self defense, it is also leadership and character building. A few months after both kids started training, I joined in. My husband followed 2 months later. Now we do the Open Family class together every Saturday morning (along with tons of other families). I also train in Adult class 1-3 times per week. I am building adult friendships for Me. I am honing my body for Me. My kids can see me as an example of consistency, dedication and doing hard things. And, we spend family time together doing something active and without screens. Two of my favorite "extracurricular" karate events at Tersak's were Family Board Breaking Night and the Spring Tournament. I also really enjoy the festive events like Trunk or Treat and Easter Egg Hunt! The people here are good people. I am so thankful the Abitria family told me to check out this dojo. The yard is completely unassuming, grungy, hot and humid, beat up, ghetto, old school, and hidden off the side of the road in an old warehouse in springfield. Perfect. Monday through Thursday from 6pm - 7pm and Saturday from 9am - 10am you get an hour long intense cardio workout with a mixture of different exercises that Hector will break you down with. Want to take a break or rest a little without being told to? Be ready because Hector will get on your ass immediately and get you going again! These hour long sessions are a group fitness class that combines fundamental boxing techniques with calisthenic (bodyweight resistance) exercises to improve stamina, power, and tone. Expect a full-body workout through various boot-camp-style drills, shadowboxing, jumping rope, footwork, punching heavy bags, and abdominal exercises. Memberships consists of $10 drop-in, $99 monthly, or $299 for personal training. It's a blast and I can't wait to train here more often. Lots of good people here in a friendly competitive environment where everyone wants to push themselves to the max. Don't worry if you've never boxed before.
