Problem here is it says the place is open until 11, I came in at 9:15, sat at the bar, and was told I had 5 minutes to order food bc they were closing. ...........wut. Then was told that the bar closes at 11, kitchen closes at 9:30. For the next 20minutes I counted 6 groups that came in and were turned away. Money is green isn't it? I got a jack Daniels chicken sandwich that wasn't cooked all the way through and was rushed out so they could get the kitchen closed at 9:25.. Terrible business. Terrible management. On the way to Florida today we stopped here for lunch. We use their 10 for 10 menu and we each ordered a salad with grilled chicken. I ordered it with thousand island dressing and French dressing on the side. My wife ordered it with ranch dressing. When you arrive at a sports bar 10 minutes before the kick off of Super Bowl LI, and find a spot at the bar in front of the TV, are you lucky? I thought so. Service was cordial and orders for awful gunky french onion soup and horrid bacon wrapped jalapeños arrived promptly. The server advised enjoying them because "they" are removing them from the menu. In my opinion this location needs a complete overhaul. It's of the older layouts and they really do need to get this one remodeled to the new set up. The inside is really showing it's age, especially the tables and chairs. The bathrooms... well, lets just say go in there "after" you eat. I find the menus are overly tattered, sticky, and missing pages. The wait staff are okay. They take your order, no real attempt to connect with you and running from table to table. Generally as sign of being understaffed. The food quality is lacking, and presentation is just not there. Clearly slapped, or glopped onto the plate with no care or pride in what goes out the kitchen door. My suggestion is if you are going to come here, stick with the hamburgers and "don't" get the steaks. Ribs are hit or miss. The appetizers are okay, perhaps the best item on the menu here. My impression with this location is the owner has made his money from this place a long time ago and has no intentions of sinking any funds for improvements, acquiring better cooks, or hiring on extra wait staff. read more

My husband and I just had dinner at TGI's in Effingham. The restaurant is located inside an older building that is showing its age and has a distinct unpleasant smell. Fortunately, when you walk into the restaurant, the smell is no longer noticeable. The restaurant itself is older as well, though it appears to be acceptably well maintained in general...with the exception of the restrooms. The restrooms look very dated with walls that need painting, floors that need new tiles...and they have the same musty, mildew smell as the hallway outside the restaurant. On the good side, the servers were very polite and helpful. They were the reason we stayed to try the food. I ordered my usual...hibachi chicken. It's my favorite dish at TGI's. Other than the rice, it was excellent. The chicken breast was flavorful, juicy and tender. The rice that accompanied the chicken had a slight off-flavor reminiscent of the musty smell in the bathrooms. Removing the red peppers (of which there were way too many) improved it noticeably making it edible. My husband had ordered steak. He reported that it was very juicy and tender with good flavor. He also liked the cheesy mashed potatoes and broccoli. We had also ordered an appetizer...the pretzel breadsticks with beer cheese. My husband and I had told the server we prefer regular cheese to beer cheese. He said they don't have it, yet he still managed to bring cheese dip without the beer in it. That really impressed me. The breadsticks were awesome...hot and fresh with a buttery, garlic salt flavor. The regular cheese dip made them even better. The combination of good service and a great appetizer saved that whole experience. The server also brought soft drinks to go as we were leaving. That's something we really appreciate. There are some serious drawbacks to this restaurant...such as the age and smell. Even so, the quality of the service and food (except for the rice) make it a worthwhile stop. read more

This is our go to nice sitdown restaurant; their menus fresh and constantly changing. They always have drink specials and appetizers. Employees are super friendly and aim to please. Allowing substitutions here and there; usually for no additional charge. We can't go wrong with this restaurant, especially since our Ruby Tuesday's went out of business.
