My daughter and I came in and it was all amazing. First we got the shrimp tempura. It was so good and crispy. We requested their sweet and spicy sauce with it and that was excellent. My daughter ordered her standard which is masaman curry. She loves it. I ordered the roasted duck in red curry sauce. It was really good also. It had a little kick, but not enough to have to use rice to tone it down. It was just yummy. I also ordered pad Thai. Yes I knew I wasn't going to be able to eat it all, but I have heard of a doggie bag. I thought the pad Thai was a weird reddish color but the taste was out of this world and perfect. They gave us a coconut mushroom soup gratis which was alright but not worth taking up room for. read more

This place is very overpriced and CHINTZY in and unappealing environment and not even good food. Ordered the Thai noodle and it came with barely a half cup of soup, barely any chicken and what it did have was dry and flavorless. The BASIL fresh rolls had one teeny leaf of basil. Thai Diner was my full time boyfriend when I lived in Fayetteville several years ago, we only broke up because I had to move away, so I always visit when I'm in town. I always get the tofu noodle bowl, with extra sauce. It is not spicy at all, sweet and savory. They do pick-up and dine in, when you dine in and order this at lunch it comes with the mushroom soup. I would give Thai Diner 5 stars on any other day because I have been coming here for years..... but today when I walked in at 2pm, to eat by myself, I was asked to take it to go. As a former restaurant worker I felt this was EXTREMELY unacceptable and rude. I'm not trying to stay long I just wanted to eat fast and leave. It wouldn't have taken me 30 minutes to eat depending on how fast their service was. I was very disappointed at the customer service today. We had high hopes for this place but after 3 out of 3 entrees being unsatisfying, we will not be returning. The rice used for the Curry was a sticky rice that did not absorb anything and the curry was very runny and did not have enough flavor. Authentic, delicious and awesome service. We dined here while staying in Fayetteville, visiting my fiancee's grandmother and aunt. It's their favorite place. Being Thai and loving all things Thai food-related, we had to check it out. It was a little cold -- we went during the mega winter storm of 2011. Snow pummeled the area and it was slick and icy. The temperature was in the teens. It was a little chilly inside, but the food was phenomenal and our overall experience was pretty good. We ordered quite a few dishes and ate them family style, per tradition. We had left overs, but I took a nasty slip in the icy parking lot and lost all of my pad Thai. Before I start, let me preface this by saying that my girlfriend and I have lived in LA Metro and have dined in many Thai restaurants ranging from superb to pathetic qualities. So when we first sat down, we were shocked by how little selection of actual Thai dishes there actually is on the menu. On that note, who the heck would go to a Thai restaurant to buy sushi or Chinese stir fry? Anyway... The secret to this place is to order OFF THE MENU. Management of this restaurant have changed all the traditional Thai-based dish names with English translation. So while that is slightly jarring at first, but quickly you will realize, for example, that "stir fried flat noodle" actually refers to pad thai. Further, if you know exactly the Thai dish you want, simply tell your waitress what you want. If it's a Thai dish that you commonly see in other restaurants, chances are they can make it for you no problem. For example, both tom yum soup and drunken kee mow are not on the menu, and yet we got them, with one caveat. That caveat is the tom yum soup. The traditional tom yum soup in many Thai restaurants has large pieces of lemongrass, served with fresh herbs such as thai basil, bean sprouts, and maybe tofu. Then under the hot pot container should be a fire lit to keep the soup hot and fresh. Unfortunately, ordering off the menu means that many of these ingredients are not typically prepared in advance. So instead we received a wonderful broth in a hot pot, along with sliced mushrooms, with no lit fire. No problem, the broth was delicious and definitely up to par with some of the above average Thai restaurants in LA. Our pad thai and drunken kee mow came soon thereafter. The portions are absolutely huge in comparison to some other local Thai restaurants. Despite the huge portion, the flavor was great too. Neither dish was too greasy, and both had just the right amount of sauce to flavor the entire dish, no more and no less. In fact, we made three meals (for the both of us) out of the two dishes we ordered. The service was fast and friendly too. So, for the best food in this restaurant, order off the menu. Want to know a secret? The staff is actually from Laos. Still this place has great food! There is a bit of difference between Thai and Lao food but it still is great. The green tea ice cream here is worth the visit alone, I love the coconut soup, and the Beef Thai noodles are great. The sushi is usually pretty good I haven't had any problems with it. I would like to mention, don't insult the cook. A friend of mine told the waiter that the spicy curry wasn't spicy enough and wound up with very spicy curry. The prices here are probably the best in town, with huge servings compared to A Taste of Thai. I almost always get Pad Thai when I go here, so I can't comment on the other dishes, except to say that my friends like their sushi a lot. For dessert, you can't go wrong with their flavored ice creams, either. So here goes my first ever negative yelp review. I have to be honest... Definitely not authentic and some of the worst Thai food I have ever had. I am half Thai and unfortunately my mom moved back to Thailand so I am missing her food. I decided to finally venture to Thai diner with a Living Social deal. I can tell you it was not even worth it at half off (it's overpriced to begin with). I asked if they served noodle soup (very basic Thai staple meal) and the server pointed to their selection of soups (all of which were NON noodle soups). The very first being wonton soup...not Thai. Needless to say I didn't order any soup but instead the Cashew nut chicken - mediocre at best. My husband ordered Massamun curry. It looked very sloppy and was served with avocados on top!? So strange. Was not pleasant either. Two more things: 1)The atmosphere at McDonalds has more appeal than this place, no joke and 2)if you ever go to a Thai restaurant and there is a sushi bar, guess what? Sushi is not Thai!! I will never be going back and I highly recommend getting your fill on Thai food elsewhere...save your time and money!! read more
