Service was great. Ambiance was not bad. The food tasted good and seemed to be fresh but they have zero concept of serving food at the correct temperature. The complementary soup had great flavor but came out so hot we had to wait more than five minutes to eat it! Our chicken dumplings arrived and they were barely warm. My wife actually said she wished she had soup left, so she could have dropped them in it to warm them up! Our entrees came out. Again both were nowhere near hot but to make things worse, I requested that mine is made spicy hot. (A 4 on their scale of 1 to 5). It came out, with a spice level of about 1.5. Really disappointing. If the meal had been served hot and with the right spice level this could have quite easily have been a 4 or 5 star experience. read more

Extremely delicious food. Hearty, flavorful, food is incredibly fresh and delicious. When I first sat down, the waitress immediately gave me a very small, very simple, but very delicious rice soup in a cup. I got the #18 Pad Woon-Sen, which came served in a bowl with a size of rice. For some reason, the rice here in all of its forms is strangely incredible. Quite literally some of the most satisfying and delicious rice I've ever tasted in a restaurant. The vegetables were cooked wonderfully, and went well with the broth that went with the dish. I have a small personal taste for clear glass noodles, so I wish there was a liiiiittle more. But that doesn't take away from the fact that the food was delicious. Totally worth at least one try. read more

In my experience, the shorter the wait staff, the better the food. The woman at the front (there will be only one), is actually incredibly nice. She's the only one (there will be only one) that waits tables, clears tables, etc. She's busy, deal with it. Regarding help with orders...there's at least one full page of piCtUreS. The accompanying peanut sauce is very chunky and greasy with little flavor. But the cucumber salad that goes with it is decent, in comparison to other restaurants. If you dare to order the yellow curry, however, BEWARE. It isn't even yellow. The only detectable flavor is coconut milk with oil. Zero curry flavor. Just look at the pic I took and come to your own conclusion. Server was inattentive and dismissive. We said thank you for bringing the food out...she just turned and walked away. Love Thai food & for me, the spicier the better. Went here for lunch & ordered the green curry with a spice level of 3 stars ("hot"). The "soup of the day" was a broth based soup with rice & chicken. I added some Sriracha sauce to give it a little more flavor. It was ok. The green curry was not your traditional- no potatoes but zucchini & a lot of bamboo shoots. It was not hot at all, hence the dousing of more Sriracha. This was $7.95 for lunch. Service was good & there was only 1 lady doing it all- delivering food, taking orders, being the cashier & she was still fairly friendly. I have now tried four different Thai restaurants in the Fayetteville Arkansas community and this by far has the best food so it is going to receive my highest rating of any of the Thai restaurant. My daughter is a student at the University and was super excited to bring me here to try the food. For our dinner we ordered the fried spring rolls for an appetizer, then we had green curry, Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mao for our main course dishes. We had three stars on all three and it was the perfect amount of heat, yet keeping it very easy to eat. We had some other students with us so they were serving a table of 6 and got all our food out hot to the table within about 2 minutes of each other which is pretty good for that large of a group. I like the Pad Kee Mao the best of the three dishes. The sauce was exactly as I would have suspected for this dish and had great flavor. They were generous with the variety of vegetables and the portion of pork we had with this dish was also very generous. The Pad Thai was probably my second favorite, and then the green curry. The green curry was a little thinner than I am used to. While it was a very generous portion, it kind of ran off the rice instead of coating it. I would be interested in trying the green curry again on a future night to see if that is how they always serve it. You can tell that the people running this restaurant are doing so on a minimum of staff. I would not be surprised to find out that it is family run. The waitress is all pure business and could benefit from taking a lesson on the art of small talk, but as I watched her through our meal, she was doing everything for the front of the restaurant. That can be a lot for one person as the number of tables continues to grow through the night. I noticed a sign in the restaurant that stated that they will be moving locations on April 15th 2019 to a location on MLK. I am excited to see what they are able to do with a new space. I hope that it will allow them to bring the building and dining experience up to the same level of their food. I am sure that I will be returning to Sala Thai on future visits to the University of Arkansas and Fayetteville. read more

Tried the place because reviews were good. Upon entering the restaurant, got a bad feeling. The hostess/waitress greeting was not warm and welcoming, more "find yourself a seat in the back". She was no help on the menu questions and seemed annoyed that we were taking our time ordering. We ordered fresh spring rolls, chicken satay, Yumyum salad and Tom Yum soup. The waitress then brought a chicken broth based chicken rice soup as an appetizer, free of charge, I think. It was flavorful but a bit salty. The fresh roll was OK. It had shrimp and chicken in it. Would have preferred shrimp only. The peanut sauce was mediocre. The chicken satay was plentiful but not very tasty. The YumYum salad was awful. Very heavily flavored with fish sauce. We ordered the beef as the meat in the salad and it tasted like fish. Totally inedible. We brought it to the waitresses attention but she seemed indifferent to our request to take it back. The Tom Yum soup with shrimp was the best choice we made. Very small portions on this and salad for price. The waitress didn't offer to take the YumYum salad off our bill. Only said she would like the cook know we didn't like it. Bad first and last experience here. read more

Ive been going here ar least weekly for over a year but in the last couples months the quality has really gone down, mostly rice and not enough veggies to balance the ratio and the last 3 times I've come in I ask for 3.5 spicy and Ive had to add my own when i came home which wasn't as good. when I called to address these concerns as a regular customer I was met with a simply apology and not much else. My favorite Thai food place in Fayetteville. This historic building has been Hoot's Drive In, a Tex-Mex Place and now SalaThai. The local owner's have prepared many meals for us. In it's present incarnation, the menu has pictures and descriptions of the usual Thai dishes. The servers and chefs offer quick service for lunch and dinner. Prices are very good. I was pleasantly surprised to find this gem so close to where I live. Being new in town, I decided to just go ahead and start trying Thai restaurants around town, and I was rewarded by a delicious meal on my first visit. My only ding was on the service. It's a two-man show in here, but it took a long time to be served and the server didn't seem particularly pleased to be working today. Despite that, I ordered the Pad Thai, mild, with tofu. The tofu was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was deliciously flavored. A warning, though, to anyone sensitive to spice: the mild might be too much for some.
