I came in to pick up some quick dinner for my fiance and I after having an evening flight back to Orlando, and I gotta say this I was seriously impressed by the hospitality and kindness of the staff. It's definitely a small place and not fancy at all, but it's well worth it to support this family :) After placing my to-go order, I was brought out complimentary hot pineapple tea along with two cookies and plantain chips to enjoy while I waited and also to take home. My order came out pretty quick. I ordered a Pad See Ew which had delicious and perfectly cooked noodles with the egg, broccoli, and carrots in soy sauce. My fiancé got the Drunken noodles which is almost the same as the Pad See Ew but with chili oil and a couple more things in it. That was excellent! It's a simple place, you can tell it's a family run environment so it not all glitzy and glamorous as other Thai restaurants but, the hospitality never fails at this place, their service is top notch. They treat you like a guest in their home and it really makes me happy to feel so welcomed. Food: rotten carrots, the chicken satay was two skewers which is short like 3 compared to my hometown spot, the veggies in all dishes were rotten and the fried rice was white and wet. Easily one of the worst meals I have ever paid for. Service: super sad because the ppl were so old and just seems so sad. Ambiance: this place was filthy in the back where you go to pay and I just couldn't believe it. It almost looked like the couple that was serving us may live there too? I really am confused about the other reviews. I Tried this place while I was stuck in Orlando for the night for flight issues. This was the closest Thai place to my hotel. I ordered the basil beef and the pineapple fried rice with chicken and no pineapple. There wasn't a basic simple fried rice that I could order. The fried rice was not good, way too much onions, it had a very obvious sweet taste, the fried rice had cashew nut and raisins in it. Honestly there was so much wrong with the dish its too much to list them all. The chicken fried rice had a total of 5-6 pieces of chicken. The list goes on and on. Next, the basil beef. I've tried probably 25-30 basil beef dishes and this was the strangest and worst I've ever had. There was no beef at all, almost like they forgot it, terrible shredded vegetables and the ratio of vegetables to protein was 10:1. Hubby was livid with the food but we had zero options as it was late in the night. I've never left a review like this and compared to other yelp rating my only guess is they send terrible food out to delivery services like uber eats. Very disappointed in the value and taste of this restaurant. $16 ginger vegetable entree and barely received half of a bowl ( photo attached) and it was salty. I didn't get a picture of the chicken satay that was suppose to be 5 pieces but it was more like 3 cut up into uneven pieces that didn't resemble what a typical satay looks like. It's served with rice and was so delicious and full of flavor! The sweet surprise came at the end when the owner gave us some tea and cookies. The inside is not anything special. It looks to be a long time. Family run restaurant and there isn't anything new and shiny about it but I enjoyed my meal and it was tasty. I like heat so I asked for a medium spice and I enjoyed it. My husband asked for mild and he thought it was super hot lol. I'd say if you truly like spice, you will enjoy the flavors here. Unfortunately the food was inedible; I couldn't even finish my dinner (and I never waste food!) Owners were very nice; tried to like it. I rarely ever write reviews; only for very bad or very good. Thought they were just being negative. I got a chili basil chicken dish and the sauce tasted awful. All the wrong balance of flavors, like random things were mixed together, a weird sickly sweet salty fishy goolash that left my stomach feeling queasy. Tasted like no Thai I've ever had (have eaten hundreds of times). I also paid for extra chicken and received no extra, perhaps even less than a standard portion. Also there was no fresh Thai basil, which is standard; just some dried basil. Vegetables were weird and mushy esp carrots; someone else said they were off. So yeah, $22 for me to just eat the side of rice. The owners were kind and endearing and old and she even gave me cookies (from a box) and grapes and hot tea for free while I waited, and asked me to leave her a 5 star review while there, but I figured I'd wait until I got my food. My intention of this is NOT that they don't get business, but that they work on improving their cooking! Their kindness warrants success and abundance, but if your profession is cooking you kinda have to be good at it, especially since Thai food is so standard and it's consistently good pretty much anywhere you go. Owners were very nice and had great service! Food came out fast and was fairly priced. Menu had a lot of variety with vegan and vegetarian options. We got tom yum and chicken satay for appetizers, tofu param, chili fish with crispy tilapia, and tofu singapore noodle. Everything tasted good but the rice was a little dry. I'm not going to lie but when I came in around 630pm and it was a bit dead, I was a little worried. A very kind grandma that did not speak much english instructed us to sit down and pointed to a menu and we said, "yes please!". I do hear cooking and noises in the back with occasionally uber chime when an order comes in. While we waited, we decided on what we wanted to order which was chicken satay, Nam Tok (beef salad), and pineapple fried rice. (opps forgot - also panang curry with shrimp) We waited some more but a kind gentleman took our order and everything came out quickly after that. Everything tasted delicious! The pineapple fried rice has cashews, raisins and rice was dry, not soggy. It could be a bit oily for some people. The beef salad has heavy season but personally, I like it that way cause i'm a savory kind of person. The chicken satay and panang curry was good and normal. As previously noted, their hospitality provide us with chips that included what tasted like tamarind cookies, and a cup of tea towards the end of the meal. This is a really special Thai restaurant. It's humble inside, but the Service and food are stellar. We were served a few extra nibbles at the start and end of the meal. My dining companion had red curry and I had green curry with tofu. I order this at every Thai restaurant and their version was really excellent with an extra depth of flavor. And you don't survive a long time in the restaurant business without doing things right. The food is spectacular, strong flavors all over the place. After a week of cruising, we had a few hours to kill in Orlando before our flight and knew we needed to eat some real food before getting stuck with fast food airport choices. We had initially driven by Thai Island earlier that morning when we hit up the nearby Cafe De Colombia Bakery. So when we passed it again, I checked Yelp and was excited about their 4.5 star rating. We called ahead since it was Easter and they had regular hours opened. We had planned to order our food to go but the kids walked in and were suddenly hungry to dine in. (We did just momentarily ask before going in if they were hungry then and they had said no.) We ended up with two orders of their Tom-Kha with Fried Tofu ($4.99/each), two Steamed Jasmine Rice ($3/each), and one Pad See Ew with Fried Tofu ($11.99). The kids devoured the steamed rice with coconut soup. It barely breathed once it hit the table! I did get a taste of it and it was pretty good. The noodles were yummy too. We also got complimentary pineapple tea and root vegetables chips at the end, which everyone just loved as well. The kids asked if we could return to Thai Island the next time we were in Orlando! So we definitely know which place we'll be hitting up when we are in town. During our lunch time dine in, they had tons of pick up orders. They do work with various order delivery systems, so they are very popular. There was one party dining in as we left. The owner lady was very nice and chatted with us quite a bit.
